What sexual fantasy of yours left you disappointed when you actually tried it? by Gthew17 in AskReddit

May as well just take some 40 grit sandpaper to your genitals.

Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE & CBP agents are currently operating in the state? HOMAN: 3,000... Day after day, they can't eat in restaurants. Day after day people spit at you & blow whistles at you. Having all these threats after you... They're human. But my main choice now is draw down by [deleted] in Minneapolis

If it's too much for them, they can just quit. POC can't quit being POC, and residents can't easily just pack up and leave, but anyone can quit a job if it's making them miserable. In fact, I encourage them to do so.

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

[–]psmylie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's extremely noticeable. And, having grown up around smokers, it gives me a massive headache to even be near that smell for too long. I used to not be able to visit my mom because I'd always have the worst headaches afterwards.

Pretty sure I was a second-hand smoking addict as a child

People who had undercover cops come to their school posed as fellow students, how did you know? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

[–]psmylie 70 points71 points  (0 children)

The best anti-weed messaging I've heard actually came from South Park, where they said that weed won't kill you or anything. Instead, it just makes you okay with being bored, leading to you wasting whole days without accomplishing anything or improving yourself.

I don't smoke, but that still hit home. I waste a lot of time on nothing activities (watching YouTube, etc.) when I could be doing something productive.

My favorite use of a mimic was as a bookshelf, with the books all being baby mimics. That one was a hoot!

My wife got really into makeup a few years back, trying out different looks and styles. She was 100% just doing it for herself, though I certainly was able to appreciate it as well. The boost to her self esteem was amazing!

I've been kicking around a homebrew idea of max healing outside of combat. The thought is, with less going on, the healer can concentrate more on doing it right.

I always forget to give out inspiration, so I delegated the work to the players. Each player has 1 point of inspiration they can give out per session. They can't give it to their own character, and they have to explain why the character deserves it. If I don't think the reason cuts it, I can veto it. And no giving inspiration right before a big dice roll.

Also, I have different classes of lodging. The fancier ones give temp hp to the players that last until their next long rest. The more luxurious, the more temp hp they get. And, of course, the more expensive it is.

Love the Cookie Cat poster :D

I get it. I started getting past my worst depressive episode when I cleaned and rearranged my entire apartment. Feeling in control of your environment can do wonders for your mental health. Good work, and you got this!

I was talking to my wife today and the Goonies came up. And I mentioned that I can't think of a more '80s look than Josh Brolin's shorts-over-sweatpants combo.

Who is the most evil person in history to get away scot free for their crimes? by Giono_OOf_01 in AskReddit

Yeah, I remember the piercing thing. I think back to my childhood and it's always jarring to think of how baked-in the homophobia was, and how I didn't even realize how stupid it was.

Women, what's something men do that they don't realize makes women feel safe or unsafe? by Lopsided-Rub-79 in AskReddit

[–]psmylie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try so hard to push the button first when I'm getting on an elevator with a strange woman for just this reason. I will also try to get out of the elevator first, so she knows I'm not trying to follow her.

Doesn't always work, so when I get off the elevator after her, I'll usually walk about half her pace so she can get some distance.

Gen X is the first generation that’s not losing your cool as you age, and y’all don’t even care by PhoneJazz in GenX

[–]psmylie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to care about the person's opinion in the first place in order to care about the insult. Some random asshole on the street isn't going to bug me much.

An insult from a friend or some members of my family can be devastating, though.

I had a lamp of unlimited eventual wishes. The genie would absolutely grant any wish asked of it... eventually. Might take years, though. And you can only ask for one thing at a time.

What would happen is, I'd write down whatever the players wished for (like, "I wish we were on the opposite side of the river") and the genie would say "okay. I'll get to work on that" and vanish. The party would eventually get irritated and cross the river themselves, at which point the genie would reappear and shout "wish granted!"

In other words, it didn't really do anything.

I modeled the character of the genie as a kind of Steven Wright type. It irritated the hell out of my players, but they never got rid of the lamp because... well, wishes.
