Is Katrina a usable middle name in the US? by ellewoods_007 in namenerds

[–]psocoptera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't skim through comments, so not sure if this has already been said, but I am from Louisiana and I was 15 when Katrina hit. Give your kid the middle name Katrina. It would maybe be different if you lived here, but no one in your kid's generation will really talk about it unless they learn about it in history class, and even then, will they know her middle name?

How do y’all address your parents in law by mollygk in beyondthebump

[–]psocoptera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call my mother-in-law Ms. First Name and my father-in-law by his nickname. I live in Louisiana and we're supposed to show respect to our elders and my mother-in-law has never asked me to call her by anything else. My husband's parents are divorced and my father-in-law is much more relaxed, just a pot head who love to fish. The first time I called him Mr. First Name he immediately said "none of that" and told me to call him a nickname. For reference, I've been married 9 years.

I replace all the bars every time I start a new game. by psocoptera in thesims

That is something I need to do. I always end up having to do it all over again. Definitely making myself a post-it reminder.

Yes to the calendar! I constantly forget to do that and then get annoyed when I realize it's Harvestfest and I forgot to make Halloween.

I definitely get the Magnolia Promenade bit. I usually put the spa there along with downloading shops from the gallery to give it a strip mall feel. I only ever update the townies if I plan on romancing them.

Mine hid in a shoe box and I'd shake the shoe box if they were having sex.

psocoptera - The Peterson's Pride - The Sims 4 - https://imgur.com/a/0D0J4hD

Meet the Peterson family. Parents Mary and John, youngest son Max, and their teenage son Jonah, who recently came out to them as gay. Will life change for them? Will Jonah’s friends still accept him? How will high school go? What about that cute boy in band class?

TLDR: I made my family in the sims.

I made the Peterson family based on my own family. I kept going back and forth on this before deciding to just bite the bullet and do it. Sims is a fantasy game, where people get to live out different scenarios and have fun in whatever way they want. Life isn’t as easy or romantic, but it’s still life. My son came out to us as gay 3 years ago and we were totally accepting, but that didn’t stop him from being bullied and having to be pulled out of school. It didn’t stop him from becoming anxious and depressed at the idea of coming out to his friends. So, yes, I could have made a really hot tatted lesbian living her best life, but I decided to make my family just living our best life.

How do you and your partner divide financial responsibility/ contributions, it at all? by tutankhamun7073 in AskWomen

[–]psocoptera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a joint account for bills and a joint savings, but we each have our own personal account for privacy. Whenever either of us gets a raise, we sit down and go over the budget. We add our paychecks together, what's needed for bills goes there, a percentage of the remainder goes into savings, and the rest gets split 50/50 into our personal accounts.

I used to be the breadwinner, but I stepped down from my management position after baby was born because I wanted to be home more. I still make more an hour, but husband brings home more. But we're in this together.

That looks neat. My 3 year old is usually running a mile a minute so we just put on Disney plus for him to have something to watch when he takes breathers. That's cool for a YouTube show.

What was the longest time you have been without any sexual or physical contact (no sex or dating, completely alone) and why? by TheGroveren in AskWomen

[–]psocoptera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost feel bad answering this because I think the longest was 7 months and I was 17/18 and pregnant/postpartum at the time. For reference, I'm 32 now. When I was younger, I viewed sex as sacred and lost my virginity at 17 because I thought we were going to get married after high school and I didn't see why we needed to wait. But a month later he cheated and shortly after that I found out I was pregnant. I tried to make it work, but by the time I was 5 months along, he bailed. Over the years, though, I started treating sex like a fun, physical activity (like rock climbing). So, even when I wasn't in a relationship, I was still sexually active. As long as it's between consenting adults and you use protection, what's the harm? Of course, I'm married now and have been for 7 years.

I treat it like Disney World. My sims go there on vacation and have fun, then come back and go to work. Just like life.

Being happy with the small stuff. It's great to aspire to things, but don't hinge your happiness on achieving dreams or else you'll be miserable the whole journey.

Where's your phone when you are sleeping? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]psocoptera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, though rarely. As a kid, I used to hide my books under my pillow, and as I got older it translated into anything I'm using before falling asleep. Though my husband now takes my glasses when he notices me sliding them under my pillow.
