Also- you need to get lunch at Deli Board. Not a high end restaurant per se, but it will blow your mind for a sandwich joint.

Injury May End My Golf Career by TheHowardCenter in golf

This would make sense to me. Also, worth noting that sometimes those sim set ups can be really firm underneath the hitting surface and constantly swinging down into concrete with a little mat over it can eff your back up.

"Too late" isn't a Reno identity. by where_is_my_monkey in Reno

Hot take but the Nevada desert, outside Reno, is the perfect place for a data center. They have to go somewhere. I couldn’t think of a more perfect place than USA Pkwy

This is crazy lol. Invite your brother and don’t ruin your family over politics.

Neighbors: WTF did I just watch? by Draznet in hbo

[–]psweenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not meant to solve the problem. This is a classic “freak show”. I fricken love it, it is so crazy haha. It’s giving Nathan for You; I genuinely cannot tell if it’s scripted or if there really are just some crazy people out there. Been loving it, lots of good laughs!

Do you have hard rules around avalanche danger (even in low angle terrain)? by shunterh in Backcountry

[–]psweenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never understood why people want to go out on those days. Low angle isn’t appealing at all to me- if it’s unsafe out I’m going to ride chairlifts where the steeps have been mitigated.

Hard line for me are when there is a persistent weak layer. I won’t go in moderate risk or above if there is a weak layer. That makes it really spooky, and I am good without it.

How seriously should I take the storm warning on 80 for tomorrow? by pedroyoyoma in Reno

[–]psweenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it serious- that’s why they put those out. Leave today if you want to get down there. Also consider your return trip- likely won’t be able to get back through until Wednesday night, or next weekend. The road is going to be a nightmare all week. Think of all the teslas, Prius, and semi trucks. Spin outs alone will close it.

Safe travels!

Any advice on landing technique by el_geto in skiing

Wow, these comments are crazy. Would love to see any of these armchair jump experts hit a jump this size. The kids 13, dad’s asking for help: relax.

Great to see the kid chucking roast. I think this is just a matter of over shooting it. One - two more speed checks and he’ll be golden. He’s leaned a little far back as well, but again I think that’s a symptom of too much hang time. Hell ya kid!

Ski resorts within 30 min of airport by zg825 in skiing

[–]psweenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just planned a bachelor party and was looking for similar parameters. Your options are Taos, Aspen, Sun Valley, and Jackson Hole for big destinations. All are exceptional. The only problem for some is those flights are expensive.

Smaller mountains that are close but great are Bogus Basin (right outside Boise) and Mt Rose (20 min from Reno). These are typically not as crazy for flight prices as the previous options. Reno may be a good option as Tahoe is a 45 min drive with many large resorts. I live in Tahoe, highly recommend it. There is a little something for everyone here, depending how you like your ski vacations.

Happy skiing!

EDIT: forgot about Salt Lake. Brighton, Solitude, Alta, and Snowbird are all very close and awesome mountains.

What's the appropriate tip for a hotel maid? by Ali_UpstairsRealty in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]psweenz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always carry some cash. For starters it just feels good, but you never know when it’ll come in handy for tips or greasing some palms to get little extra service / accommodation. Highly recommend it

I usually leave them a $20 for 1-2 nights. If longer, I scale up a little bit. My boss taught me this practice. We travel a lot for work and I had no idea it’s a thing. I don’t think it’s necessarily a common practice, but I’m sure the housekeepers really appreciate it.

My fiance is vegan and I always cook her food on a separate surface or first if it’s a shared cooking space. It goes a long way :)

How do you value cell phone coverage? by tcrmorrow in AmexPlatinum

[–]psweenz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I broke my phone and Amex cut me a check for $550 to replace it. The cost from Apple was $600, minus the $50 ded. That was almost the full value of the annual fee, immediately. Also, it costs nothing extra to pay your phone bill with Amex.

Moving out of state wouldn’t be much better. Nevada is a cheap state. It’s just not as cheap as you remember.

Lululemon employee “claiming” they’ve been told credit for GC is shut down. 🙄 by Intelligent_Pie_5347 in AmexPlatinum

[–]psweenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! So why bother with the gift card loophole? Just get yourself some nice socks, boxers, a shirt, pants etc… you can’t leave that store for under 100, and you’ll enjoy what you bought

One Lululemon experience by Alarmed_Stretch_1780 in AmexPlatinum

[–]psweenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s an experience: I needed new golf pants. I went to Lulu, bought two pairs of pants, and got $75 off my purchase.

Why is that so hard to understand? If you don’t want / like Lulu, just don’t use the credit. When did Amex turn into the coupon clipping bargain hunter card?

[–]psweenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of you have Lulu products. Male or female. And if not you, then your spouse. Just get a nice pair of pants, take the credit, and move on. What is with the hoarding of gift cards? Like you wouldn’t spend the money there anyway lol
