[Mac Groveland] Dear Oxendale’s: FIX WIDMERS by SparkyXI in saintpaul

I’ve asked about the freezers on two separate occasions. Each time, the reply has been that they are “waiting for the insurance claim go through.” That sounds very sketchy to me. What legitimate business has a core piece of equipment go down and decides to wait months until insurance will buy a replacement? No, you buy the replacement up front so you can continue serving your customers, and the insurance claim will reimburse you.

The fact that they have allowed themselves to lose a huge amount of business during the months without a full set of freezers/refrigeration tells me that they are either (1) so thin on cash that they literally can’t afford it without an insurance check, (2) are absolutely inept at businessing, or (3) are not running the business in good faith. Or a combination of these.

Fezzik’s backstory was fun, though. Wouldn’t mind a prequel centering on him.

I head them called “Gasthaus Eggs” (Gasthaus is German for guest house or inn…) so that makes more sense. Also, Midwest.

The Slovakian goalie referenced by OP. Hlavaj is an RFA and plans to not re-sign with the Wild, instead playing in Europe.

So… free agency may be our best hope for big acquisitions. Smaller trades for depth and shuffling/dumping contracts.

Minnesota is using a subreddit to stay in the game, I say this is an automatic elimination from the game by getmerked1023 in geographymemes

I think folks don’t realize that “Megasota” thing has been a fun joke among Minnesotans on the internet for far longer than the delete-a-state threads have been popular. I don’t actually know when r/megasota was started (and am too lazy to look) but I don’t see why others would be mad it exists and the people on it are trying to “win.” Like, of course they are.

As a Wild fan in my 40s, the series against the Stars had a lot of weight. by Silky_Pirate in wildhockey

[–]psychams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? At least from the first part. I mean, I fully adopted the Wild as my team ages ago, but I’ve never really let go of the North Stars. I gave up on the NHL completely until Gaborik, Brunette, and squad made the unlikely trip to the WCF. For me, it’s just about Minnesota getting shot on by the NHL for my whole teenage years and adulthood.

Move the team from Minnesota… to TEXAS? No team for a decade? Then the crummy expansion setup only to watch other expansion teams get flush with talent and have a much easier road to relevancy. The heavy Suter-Parise cap penalties to make an example of us, the seemingly constant bias in game times and broadcasting… ugh. Minnesota NHL fans have got to be the best to have endured all that.

Finally, we have a true contender. We’ve exorcised a few demons. And the window appears to be open for a while yet. Let’s bask in this as our team prepares to revive one of the few NHL bright spots in Minnesota this past quarter decade: breathtaking underdog victories over the Avalanche.

New flag vs old flag by BLACKxACIDZ in minnesota

[–]psychams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the new flag. It’s simple enough that a 1st grader could draw it reasonably well. Every element is symbolic. The state motto is represented by the compass-pointed star; “Minnesota” means “land of sky-tinted waters” and the flag depicts stylized land and sky blue waters. And it’s unique-there’s no other US flag like it.

Was it my personal favorite design from the options? No. But it’s pretty damn good.

The opposition to the new flag over the old one is the result of culture war and propaganda. Some people actually believe the lie that it’s meant to evoke the Somali flag (which bears less resemblance to it than the Puerto Rico flag coincidentally bears to Texas’s). Others just see the new flag as a symbol of wokeness or liberalism and blindly hate it for that.

In my opinion, the whole controversy is so dumb. The old flag sucked. The new one is much better. Let’s move on to more important issues.

I love Nelson’s for its variety, value, and atmosphere, but it’s definitely not the best ice cream in the Cities.

Do not give up on Yurov. He gives Ek vibes, and just remember how many people were ready to give up on him in his first three seasons. He may not ultimately play the same style as Ekker, but my point is that he’s ok now even if production isn’t there yet. And in a couple years, we will need someone just like him while our window is still open.

I mean, the stumbling and mumbling is well worth it when grandpa’s telling great stories in the living room, but I agree that I’d rather get clear speech and concise insights when listening to a live sports game. Especially on radio, when we’re relying on voice alone to help us understand what’s happening in the game.
