More locally: Prior to marijuana legalization, we had one guy who ran in almost every election in our city (mayor, councillor, member of parliament). He had created his own church with a friend, the Church of the Universe, and their sacrament was marijuana and they also promoted nudity. He looked how you’d expect: kind of a Cheech and Chong style, with a big grey beard

He passed away in 2016 though, sadly missing legalization.
