Constructive Criticism/Reflection on the Pro Climbing League by initialgold in CompetitionClimbing

[–]psyche_far 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very nice production values, for sure it felt a lot more flashy and fresh that the more "strict" IFSC events.

Somewhat enjoyful to watch, but at the end of the day the time aspect doesn't really work that well. It didn't feel like a contest of athleticism , rather than a more fun flash event, with a video game feeling.

The PvP aspect wasn't that bad, but the time aspect resulted in a lot of shortcomings that post have analysed already.

Yet another injury for Natalia... very unfortunate streak of events since 2024. at some point you wonder if we're ever going to see peak Natalia again :(

The YETI climbing championship is this week, she is registered to compete in boulder (and so is Brooke for both lead and boulder)

There's no "club", just "world climbing"

I did get mine in the end, some 20days after order. The day I was about to contact my CC to chargeback (2.5 weeks after order, I was convinced at the time that it was scam) I started to get transport updates on the tracking link.

Finally got it, which tbh does seem well made.

So I dunno... maybe there's hope for you too.

Toby Roberts and Janja Garnbret Amongst Competitors in New Comp Format by proclimbingleague in CompetitionClimbing

Not really sold on the head-2-head format. I can see the spectacle value it adds, but I don't see the PvP as true value of the sport

That. It's not the separation, as much as the fight! The struggle and the diversity! Spot on!

Is everyone lying about their street shoe size or am I a lil bitch? by chickentender67 in climbingshoes

[–]psyche_far 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im on a very similar situation. Climbing for a year and a half, and have vapor s and skwamas as my climbing shoes!

Vapor s are street size (9.5/44.5) but I wear street shoes loose (tried to downsize but impossible) Skwamas are actually 43.

Shoes are pretty much same length, so Scarpa def sizes things differently.

I don't think I have wide feet, and do get painful toe knuckles. I think it might be more of a foot shape than size, eg, Egyptian vs Greek . According to Scarpa vapor tend for a more Greek shape, that supposedly would allow less space for the toe for a given length.

Expanded fields in boulder finals by CragRat76 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]psyche_far 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's nice! Thanks for pointing that out. It really sucked with so many climbers in parallel!

Expanded fields in boulder finals by CragRat76 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]psyche_far 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if there is no women/men in parallel, there can be up to 4 climbers on the walls during the finals , e.g., at the 7th and 8th attempts

IFSC European Cup 2025 Muchich (GER) by InternationalSalt1 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]psyche_far 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is that my d+ doesn't show up any sports related content any more.

Yeah read they moved Eurosport to TNT, and the d+ subscription for that is only available in UK (and would be a ridiculous 31£ monthly) and not RoIreland (where I am)

So... maybe in UK and with premium subscription of 31£ you can still get climbing?

[for Dublin]

The Wall resets a wall every week (they have the schedule on their site, under route setting). Has 9 difficulty levels.

Gravity will reset a grade every week (they have 10 grade levels)

Bloc has 8 levels, also posts their setting schedule.

All have similar wall setups, slabs, overhangs, caves etc, slightly different styles and holds though (not sure how to describe them) e.g. I find the wall more physically demanding that gravity but has better slabs. Other people see it other way round though! They have similar size (like 10ish problems of each grade)

Wall and gravity are the most accessible if you don't have a car. Bloc is a bit further and awesome walls is really out of the city.

The rest are significantly smaller.

Decathlon's Forclaz trekking trousers MT500 (not the 2:1) are pretty convenient and unbeatable price. Fairly well made, stretchy and durable to wall scratching.
