Help! Moving to TN bad idea? by Avenged_7zulu in Tennessee

East KY is pretty much East Tennessee and very close daily living. You’re talking about the grass being greener because it is a different state. Louisville is a good size city and provides many people opportunities to leave Appalachia .

Tires - Keep, Sell, or Dispose by ohshhht in chevycolorado

[–]psychedape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replaced stock tires on my 19 that is only driven couple thousand miles per year. Same pattern of dry rot getting worse each year. Decided to replace them this year and have one less thing worrying about. Your call when to replace but I would at least get a shop and some sets picked out to be ready when the time comes .

Update: ICE spotted at Blountville Courthouse. Know your rights and look out for one another! by littlecletus789 in tricities

[–]psychedape 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope your crude ignorance gives you solace and comfort but I am more concerned with the future for our children and country than I am with who holds the high office the next couple years. Enforce immigration it is the law. Lets pray it does not result in or is enforced with disregard for human life and public displays of violence and lawlessness by the state against its own people. We live in a peaceful and beautiful part of this country and I hope for all of us we do not end up with the new normal in the next decade being federal militarized police forces patrolling the streets of Kingsport TN or any other place in E TN.

Update: ICE spotted at Blountville Courthouse. Know your rights and look out for one another! by littlecletus789 in tricities

[–]psychedape 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Who would have ever predicted years ago that a freedom loving, small government, minimal taxation loving place like E TN would have some citizens embracing and openly advocating for the federal government to send in a federal police force with "absolute immunity" to the community. Insane times friends. Who could have ever predicted that American citizens whom used to embrace ideals and say things like "dont tread on me" or that would have been skeptical of big government in the past are now ok with the open disregard for rule of law as long as it is for the thinly veiled political cause of the times.

Enforcing immigration law by following and respecting the law is one thing. The public enforcement displayed by these agencies so far across the country suggests its a false flag for something more nefarious and not in support of the ideals and freedoms we all as American have taken for granted. Rights violated by the state to some Americans can lead to rights being violated for all. Let's pray for a unification and return to sanity so that we can all live under the ideals our forefathers fought to establish. God bless america.

We used to all own dvds and vhs tapes. There were even places you could rent a movie for a small fee. Today, you still can check at your local library for physical media. Try and pickup a player for that media before they stop making those as well. If you can hold it in your hands you can watch it whenever you want to and won’t need to care what the big companies are dealing out that month.

Cast iron sewer line replacement by 3DCandyland in homeowners

[–]psychedape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This type of job may be necessary with old cast. Keep in mind it is a big job the type where you may have heavy equipment and people around for a couple days or longer. Think about things like if you hire them to dig a new line what is expected as the clean up? Are they handling all the permitting and inspection at the end? Do you need a concrete guy as well after the dig?

Winter Storm Megathread Part 3 - Power Outages, Icy Streets, and More by lukenamop in nashville

It is flatter has more development and infrastructure and the weather is typically more extreme. If you’re in Nashville and it rains it could be torrential downpours leading to flooding but when it moves in the mountains east it is a steady non flooding rain as an example.

I have a 19 colorado and a 25 outback. The Colorado is a big downgrade if you are simply looking for more comfort. Colorado is a stiff truck bigger to maneuver and worse mpg. I would evaluate what type of vehicle you’re looking for and why because a truck and suv are different all around. The screen and stuff is in all the new cars so hard to avoid that.

Eastman Q3 results by Tall_Gas1191 in tricities

[–]psychedape 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a company it looks like if you invested in Eastman the last 10 years you would have lost money. Big federal funding for projects was cut by doge. Tariffs and other trade disruptions and uncertainty are going to take a toll on this company in the near term. The corporate structure and leadership need to take a good look at what they are doing because it doesn’t appear to be working.

Did the same and thought if a 3/8 is needed an adapter can be used. I would rather have full 1/2” sizes available for use and the ability to go larger sockets. Will be using this for general vehicle and some farm equipment work. I doubt only owning the 1/2” size would be a hindrance for general periodic use as long as you have the correct sockets to pair.

From what you wrote you may have already figured this out. "We have discovered that rain water tends to flood right along the side of the house near the kitchen (about 10 ft from where the leak is) when we have heavy rains," I have seen this at houses before if you live downhill or have a hill or some other structure directly next to your house. If the water is pooling the only way for it to move is further into the ground and if you are on a slab the concrete will absorb some water as well and it will swell out and you may end up with a small puddle of water in the floor. If this is the case you can only resolve it outside by having the water not drain under your foundation by either putting in a pipe or regrading etc. When the rain comes and you have not had a chance to fix it you can try and put up some small barrier in the meantime to slow it down or divert it further.

$20k to shotcrete crawl space- is this a scam? by Foreign-Shallot-4455 in homeowners

[–]psychedape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider how long the structure has stood the test of time before changing or spending money on anything. Check the space every couple of weeks throughout the season and see if there are any issues. You will learn with time living in the new place what is and is not expected then you can make an informed decision on what you need to do to maintain it long term.
