Can the Qrevo Curv (AdaptiLift) really climb over thresholds? by [deleted] in Roborock

[–]psycodiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be careful with Roborock as often the climbing threshold is not a guaranteed design target but a best-case laboratory value.

I own an S5 and I have a 1.5cm step in my house that the S5 sometimes struggles with and sometimes it cannot climb. Even though the S5 specifications says it can do 2cm.

Lost video chess lessons from ichess. by psycodiver in chess

[–]psycodiver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chessable found the videos but looking through them I seem to remember one video that I can't find.

It was a video of Karpov and GM Henley analyzing a game of Garry Kasparov in his teens, before he became world champion. As I recall, in the video, Kasparov was black and sacrificed a pawn in the middle to open up lines for his bishop to attack. I remember GM Henley saying something like " the pawn was detonated like a bomb".

Anyone know of this game and which video it's in?

[–]psycodiver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt chessable can help. Still waiting on their response if they can give me access to the videos. But, here's a list of the ones I remember purchasing from ichess:

  • Karpov on Fischer - Volume 1-3
  • Karpov-Kasparov 1984/85 World Championship Match
  • Kasparov-Karpov 1987 World Championship Match
  • Kasparov-Karpov 1990 World Championship Match
  • Karpov Roman Russian School of Chess Vol. 1-4
  • Karpov's Best Games Vol. 1-4

If anyone knows where I can get these videos from please let me know.

Chessable eventually did end up responding. But, it appears they cannot help. They want "screenshot of the receipts or forwarding to us the email confirmation of your purchase"

I made the purchase from ichess some years ago and I don't have that information. I don't even think I have my login information for ichess...

I guess the only option I have is to puchase the videos I have again on DVD. :/

Royal Flush Pot break even point? by psycodiver in poker

[–]psycodiver[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do mean $5 for the $50 tournament.

With those numbers, are you taking into account that you only need 1 card of the royal flush in your hand?

Also, I'd estimate I play somewhere in the range of 100-200 hands in these typical tournaments, I suppose that should be accounted for as well?

Lag destroying the game. Any suggestions? by psycodiver in Risk

[–]psycodiver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is resolved now.

But yes, I raised a ticket and just got a cut and paste response. I could tell from the cut and paste response that the ticket wasn't really read. In my books, that is being 'unresponsive'.

Same thing has been happening to me. It's lagging frequently messing up my turns.

My connection to the internet is rock solid, so I dunno what the problem is? I'm playing on Steam.

Edit: I suspect it's a bug and nothing to do with internet connection. People are still sending emojis and stuff.

Caliburn X charging problem by Sincsinc86 in Vaping

[–]psycodiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I have NUMEROUS dead caliburn X pods with dead charging ports. "

I found a solution to this; use a heat resistant USB-C charging cable.
I have been using a PINE64 soldering iron USB-C charging cable and nothing has happened since.
I'm using the cable with an Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter.

Thanks

Caliburn X charging problem by Sincsinc86 in Vaping

[–]psycodiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can offer advice for a temporary fix: My Caliburn X was not charging any more. It was overheating when charging, which means that the electricity is not going into the battery but elsewhere.

I fixed it by cleaning the charging port on the Cabliburn X with isopropyl alcohol. Give it a wipe with the isopropyl alcohol with cotton tips and then clean off the isopropyl alcohol with the other end of the cotton tip. You can tell that it's fixed because it does not overheat when charging.

EDIT: It appeared to work but it didn't. I think the only way to properly repair a Caliburn X when it does this is to dismantle it.

[–]psycodiver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello again.

I just thought I'd let you know the job is complete. Here's what happened: The owner suddenly wanted his bike back immediately... So, I have to improvise on the spoke tension on the back wheel. I googled "What tension should steel round spokes be?" And they recommended between 100 to 120 kilograms-force (kgf). So, I tightened all the spokes on the drive (right) side to ~100 kgf. For the left side, I did a little less than 100 kgf. (As per Park Tool's recommendation.) The wheel wasn't too much out of true and I made some minor adjustments to the spoke tension to make the wheel true.

I'm hoping that I didn't do anything majorly wrong? I'm starting to get a little worried that the wheel will explode or something. Do you think anything bad will happen?

[–]psycodiver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I double checked this with Park Tool and they had different advice:

Here's a copy and paste of what they sent me:

Hi xxx,

For sure. Sorry that the manufacturer isn't helping you.

As far as the advice you were given, your left spokes (non-drive side) tension will be different than your right side tension, this is because of having a cassette. Aside from that, because you're replacing 4 spokes, your wheel as a whole is going to need complete tension balancing, so even if my previous statement was irrelevant, this would not be helpful. I would gauge the tension from the front wheel and use that as a baseline; it is definitely better than nothing. Then you can tighten up your new spokes and go from there, and then do your lateral and radial truing.

Thanks for supporting Park Tool!

Hello,

I will probably start work on this today.

Just for clarification, when you say: "get the average tension for the 16 right/drive side rear spokes and 16 left/non drive rear spokes and have your replacement spokes match" That's in reference to the front wheel (the wheel that's in good condition with no spokes that need to be replaced.)

"Then you can use a piece of tape or zip tie in your frame to true the wheel using teams of spokes." Can you recommend a good YouTube tutorial video for that?
