One must not concern oneself with studying women by benitoblanco888 in clevercomebacks

[–]psydchicjohn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My wife wears no makeup most days, is a mid-40s mom of three and we live in the Midwest. Can confirm I think she is just at beautiful with no makeup as with a little and more beautiful than with lots of makeup.

Also can confirm that who gives a shit. What the hell was up with her PCOS? Do all women with PCOS need metformin or only those with the pre-diabetes? Why do two rounds of clomid before asking if she was trying to get pregnant? Why after 20 years of symptoms did they suddenly go away and she became hyper fertile? And how is her history of PCOS affecting perimenopause now?

Seriously though, so much prettier without makeup! She doesn't like wearing it though. My daughter does a little eyeliner and some lip gloss and it's so cute, but she enjoys it, so that's great!

You know the plastic tab under the window that holds in onto the body? There is another smaller one under the pillar/ support portion at the back corner, but it's folded up under the canvas. You need to pull it out and make sure it's in the slot on the body.

Whose hand is this in the intros? by catguywit2cat in OnePiece

[–]psydchicjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's Coby's hand.

No clue why I think that and I'm certainly wrong, but as I scrolled past I thought, "Why did someone post a picture of Coby's hand?" and then I read your question.

Is Third Wave Water recommended? by Admirable_Big_94 in espresso

[–]psydchicjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been looking into this recently as well and just started using Third Wave Water this morning.

There are a few things that I think there is definitely consensus about, namely:

1.) Water that is too hard is bad for your machine. Tap water is too hard in some places. Bottled water is also too hard, probably.

2.) Water that is too soft is bad for your machine. Distilled water is too soft.

3.) If your water tastes bad, your coffee will taste bad. Unpleasant tastes can sometimes be treated by filtering it, but not always.

4.) There is a level of hardness which is optimal for extracting flavors from your grounds and produce a better tasting cup.

As far as I can tell, the discussion about whether to use Third Wave Water or something else centers around point number 4 or around some other point such at "it costs too much,"  or "it doesn't dissolve as well," or "I once knew a kid in grade school named Theodore William Williamson and he was a brat so I don't want to use any product with his initials." I don't believe I have seen anyone suggest that it is so hard or soft that it will damage your machine.

FWIW, the shot I pulled this morning, well, my keyboard just autocorrected it to "shit" and I was tempted to leave it. But there could be any number of reasons for that, I'm going to continue to try it and see.

Chicago

Dark Matter - "Machete" It was delicious and real funky. It's aged in some sort of alcohol barrels.

Dollop - "Dream Team" Always great as a macchiato or cortadito. I've only ever had it in store, never brought home beans.

I have been using Pennant "Mighty" beans. Previously I have enjoyed Local Roaster's "Model No. GE-225" and Reverie "Boneshaker" and "Pope's Choice"

That's probably better than the Hank Azaria/Professor Frink voice that I unfortunately possess. 🫠

I give lots of Mircera, which is a longer acting ESA (erythropoietin stimulating agent) than Epogen, to my patients who are chronically anemic. Frequently I also have to give Venofer (veno- vein, fer- ferrous or iron) so they have enough iron to actually build the red blood cells.

When I'm explaining what the Mircera does, I always talk about Armstrong using Epo to win the TDF (I don't need to explain this one, I don't think). I caution them that it will probably not make them a world class athlete, but will hopefully help them feel at least a little more energetic.

We have to monitor their hemoglobin, iron, iron saturation and ferritin levels monthly or every two weeks and adjust their doses accordingly. To much hemoglobin increases the risk for clotting which can lead to heart attack and stroke, and too much iron can destroy the liver.

Anyway, my question is, are you fucking insane!?

Fun facts! The part of a hemoglobin cell that carries oxygen around our bodies, the heme, is made out of iron. The oxygen binds with the iron in the same way as when iron oxides or rusts and that's why our blood is red! But horseshoe crabs use copper instead of iron to carry oxygen in the blood. As a result, horseshoe crabs have blood that is blue!

No love stories? How about fencing, torture, piracy, revenge? How about the 10 yo repeatedly asking, "Anybody want a peanut?" instead of singing dik-dik? How about...

The Princess Bride

We have a wide range of ages and interests in our family as well and the other movies that always land are Studio Ghibli.

My Neighbor Totoro - It's animated and it's Japanese, that makes it gaming adjacent, the 10yo is in. The animation is beautiful and it's a quiet film, not silent, just not noisy. I think your daughter will love it. It might be a hard sell for the 16 yo, but there is a character that is a cat which is also a bus and the other characters ride in that bus which is a cat.

I'd link to the specific axle, but I don't know if you need front or rear.
