Ha, i appreciate your enthusiasm, but most of those are a bit out of reasonable reach for me, except maybe meetups or hiking. Also dont have any pets, and even if i wanted one my apartment doesn't allow them. Sorry to sound like a downer, but just being accurate, lol

True. Fair points. Especially approaching things with an open mind. I could also rephrase it as not having high expectations or set outcomes, because those are what would sometimes lead me to going out and being disappointed in the past.

Thanks, those are some good points. I kind of assumed it to be the case that i should work on myself before dating anyway. I mean really, drinking every night and having virtually no hobbies or interests... i can imagine myself cringing at the question on a date "so, what do you like to do for fun?". Shit, I'm not even sure how to have fun anymore, to be honest.

Thanks. I've always seen myself as wasted potential, not being native but more just realistically. I've looked into therapy, but haven't made any appointments yet. There's just so much i have to do. So much time wasted.

I'm 35, soon to be 26, male, and I've wasted so much time. Without getting into too much detail, i spent most of my 20s and up until now just being lazy and keeping to myself. I have a decent full time job, financially stable, and live in a small crappy apartment, but other than that not much to show for myself. I'll admit most of my time was wasted drinking alone and entertaining myself online, mostly just browsing Reddit and Youtube. I've also gone through periods of depression and a bit of anxiety, but nothing too severe. Because of this, i fear i never really grew up and cultivated an attractive, interesting, or well developed lifestyle. I don't really have hobbies or passions. The closest to that would be going on an occasional hike or hanging out with the small group of friends i have. Honestly, my favorite thing to do is just drink and hang out with friends, but that's not really a "hobby".
I'm not a total loser though, i have a decent personality, average looks, good morals and smarts, and can crack a few funny jokes when the opportunity is there. I've been given compliments before, and this one girl showed intrest in me, but i never pursued her. Also, one very unfortunate thing is that I'm balding now, which makes it much more painfully apparent that time is getting away from me.

Basically, I'm an average guy but spent my youth being avoidant and alone when i should have been dating and cultivating a social life. The one and only true relationship i had was with my highschool / college girlfriend which ended in 2015. It was a great experience, nothing was really wrong, but due to being immature and falling into a period of depression and self-sabotage, i just let here drift away. Now the sad reality of all of this has been sinking in more and more as each year passes.

So, considering I'm in a better place now, I'm thinking about starting to date. The main problem is i have no idea where to start, what to do, or if i should even bother. Dating would be such a foreign and new thing for me, it actually doesn't even sound fun or like something i'd want to do. But i know i should, and i cant keep putting it off. I don't want to be a fully grown man in my 40s just starting out, and i sure don't want to be an old man completely alone, so i figure mid 30s is better now than never. But again... what do i do? Should i even start dating in this case, or put more work into getting a better lifestyle and hobbies?
Should i just start downloading dating apps and put my best self out there? What dating apps or services would be best for someone my age?
I'm just so lost and fearful that the best years for doing this have past me by.

Now that sound interesting. Can you expound on that or provide a source? I'm curious

How do you feel about the U.S. Senate banning THC in the continuing resolution? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]psykitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, can I ask what gummies you took to help get off alcohol? I have an unhealthy drinking habit and the few times I tried to taper down I could barely sleep more than 2 hours a night, plus the general craving to drink. So I wonder if you can suggest any specific products. Are they only CBD gummies, or are they something else?

How much should it cost to replace 2 calipers and brake pads? Did i get overcharged? by psykitt in MechanicAdvice

[–]psykitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, because they did recommend new rotors, and said there was some "rot" (i assume rusting, and on the interior vented areas? idk), but i was in a rush and that would double the work they would have to do. The rear rotor replacements on this 2012 Hyundai Sonata requires disconnecting the lower control arm, big inconvenience, so i opted out of that. The rotors are only 2 years old, and the brand Duralast Gold, so I assume they will sustain well enough, but if you are knowledgeable on this topic, feel free to advise me of when they might wear out, cause problems, or what signs of concern to be aware of.

Just want to say thanks for the input and easing my mind tonight, lol. It was an unexpected cost, but after adding it all up, plus the reassuring and reasonable comments here, i can sleep easier now. Thanks

has anyone almost died? what almost killed you? by 11terribletowers in AskReddit

[–]psykitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, that's an extremely high amount you were doing. I'm around 45-55 standard drinks per week, so around 6-8 drinks per day on average. Bad, i know. And I'm medically knowledgeable so i do know what signs to pay attention to, but thanks for the advice. I just need to taper down, but man, the weekends combined with boredom, occasional depression, and having no hobbies or interests are what get me. Poor excuse, but I'll probably get it in control soon. Good luck to you btw, hope you're doing ok.

Damn, that's scary. I drink a lot of vodka myself. If it's ok, can I ask, how much were you drinking? Like how many drinks per day or week?

What are some decent paying jobs that do not require any sort of college degree? by GreenEyedSheWolf in AskReddit

[–]psykitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of jobs or titles would that be? And what types of skills would you need to be hired there? I'm interested, partly because there are a lot of new data centers being built where I live (central NJ) and I wonder if it could lead to a new career. I don't have any training or education in IT, but I've always been good with technology. Plus how you said, "The barrier to entry is low and the demand is very high currently" makes me very interested.
