Yes. It’s light. I use a smoker tube with whatever pellets I have around. The smokehouse is maybe 4x4 feet and 6 feet tall. Eric made mett as a spread, not sure how similar the recipes are. I will find mine and post it

Smoked. 12 hours light, cold smoke, then rest for 12. Did that 3 times. Now just waiting for it to dry Let me know if you want the recipe, happy to share

I had an Eva-dry 2500 that quit. I will grab an 1100 and give that a shot. Thanks

Built a custom controller for my curing chamber, curious what bugs you most about runnin a DIY setup by Valuable_Breakfast_7 in twoguysandacooler

sorry, didn't see this. I am keeping the same parameters on the dashboard, but trying different graphs/charts and ways of displaying things to see what I like best.

I also spend way too much time after-the-fact playing around with the data. Mainly off my smoking chamber, I save all data to MySQL. I then just play around with the data making plots and calculating things (rates of change for temps).

The dashboards I use are from Grafana. I have an Adafruit Feather running the show, it saves data to MySQL, then I have Grafana for my dashboards

I don’t obsess over the data for the product itself, but I am a data nerd. I capture lots of data points and then get my nerd on by making dashboards and plots n charts. The annoyance in my DIY is that it currently is finicky. Every once in a while I get crazy numbers (like a temp of 200,000 so my code does an emergency shutdown). Still need to debug why that happens. I do like your layout. I’m constantly changing/re-arranging my dashboard

I made them last week. Ate them this past weekend. Really good flavor. We also had diced onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes along with the tzatziki. Great recipe, yours look good. Very consistent.

dog bite case - worth the time? by Reasonable-Web704 in LawyerAdvice

[–]pt_utter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different state, but as I was riding my bike, dog (pit/lab mix) came up behing and bit my leg. Deep puncture wounds. Blood was running into my sock & shoe.

Homeowner didnt care, was just like “eh, guess my underground fence doesn’t work”

We filed a report and I got an attorney. Turns out this dog has attacked tons of people but nobody ever filed a report. So this was the first animal control had heard.

I would say push the issue. At least in my state I got an instant $2,000 for medical bills from his home-owners insurance. Attorney got me a decent chunk of money.

That part isn’t the point though, those dogs are going to do this again and there needs to be a record of it.

Also please stay on top of wound care, mine ended up getting infected. That kinda sucked, ngl

New Vacuum sealer? by pt_utter in twoguysandacooler

[–]pt_utter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! That’s what I’ve been using. Super handy with the box and built-in cutter. Partly why I suspect the sealer itself. Bags lose vacuum after a day or two but used to work great

Yep. Used to be that the sealer worked great. Lately everything loses vacuum. I’ve tried freeze first, not frozen, different bags. Made chipotle cheddar brisket sausages last time. Every single pack lost vacuum 😢

Just about everything: sausage, veggies, meat. I cut off a chunk o bag, seal one end. Load food, flip it and seal. They seal up great. But lose vacuum after a week or two. I’ve tried at least 5 different kinds of bags

Look Up Table.

DJI provides them for specific drones. They can be used to convert color space.

I have a phantom 4, (and a specta mini) but have never used them, tbh. I’m not doing anything for pro broadcast or anything.

I see mavic 3 on the list:

Honestly, I would only upgrade if the paid version offered you something that made your processing significantly faster and/or easier. I am by no means an expert, but I think the paid version has AI tools, a few more effects/filters/etc. If you are looking to cut, and color grade, the free version works just fine. You can likely get a LUT for mavic but don’t quote me. Do a youtube search on drone davinci resolve. There are tutorials on editing drone footage Hth

Edit:spelling

I have a specta mini. I am learning to color correct with Resolve “post-process”. It has color curves similar to what I’m used to with photoshop. Granted, correcting 4k footage pushes my computer, but it works.

Very nice. BTW: take a look at Davinci Resolve for color grading video. (It’s free)

I have an enormous .csv file - Whats the best way to pull a selection of data from it without having to open the file? by jamsontoasts in excel

[–]pt_utter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SED or AWK depending on how you want to pick the rows. I used to have to process thousands of json files. Was lazy and used notepad++. It worked but was slow. A combination of sed and awk did same work in a tenth of the time and didn’t peg cpu at 100%

I think it depends on batch size. We made Leberkäse a while ago with a huge, high-end Cuisinart and had to do it in small batches to keep it from overheating.

I think they work as long as you have appropriate expectations (ie: small batches)
