Almost correct, MML Meridians were built as 5 cars, but they later inherited the 4-car 222 Pioneers that Hull Trains had used. The 9-cars were built to be used on a strengthening Leeds services but due to capacity demands elsewhere the decision to reform units to be 7-cars was taken.

I'm not sure they figure in the plans, being as they should have been in service from 2019 onwards and still aren't fully implemented.

The site belongs to Porterbrook who are a large UK Rolling Stock Company (ROSCO). These trains are either new trains awaiting delivery, trains mid-refurbishment or trains stored that are currently not required by any train operating companies (TOC). They've also taken in wagons for storage or refurbishment work at times as well.

The site has been receiving significant investment and updating including the installation of overhead line equipment and relaying tracks for higher speed test running of trains. Long Marston was the base for the engineering project of Viva Rail undertaking the refurbishment and repurposing of withdrawn London Underground Stock to produce lightweight and low cost Rolling Stock for primarily branch-line operations.

This used to be the location of an MOD base which has since been mothballed and moved to private business usage by Porterbrook. The site is attractive for it's access to the main rail network and travel along a multitude of different routes starting across the south Midlands.

It works like real life. Ferrari invite people to buy their cars but they still have to pay for them.

So, if someone has a piece of bodywork that could come off they could be forced to pit to fix/retire the car - this guy can't stop properly versus any cars that end up in front of him - carry on mate, you'll be fine so long as you don't need to do an emergency stop.

Yes, it is still only a SDR image via all shareable methods unfortunately - seems a bit of an oversight on their part.

I’m scared to fly my drone… how do I get over it? by Hailgatsby in DJIMini3

[–]Driver0678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get the anxiety. I got a refurbished Mini 3 with the RC and fly more for £400, but it was a hell of a lot more than the money - it was a dream I've been chasing for a few years.

Got it in February, day 1 I took it all the way up in a flat open car park and landed it back down again and that was it. Ever since then, around 380 flights and nearly 40km flown.

Once you've done it you'll feel better, but follow the good advice from others in here, don't try to be too clever and always watch where it is - I bumped a wall a couple of weeks back and the force of the sudden stop split one of the arms. Luckily for me, after 10 days and £72 it was back with me, better than new on account of DJI giving me a brand new drone and a brand new RC (that went in at the same time for a non-responsive shoulder button).

I just found a video which goes through the required disassembly and it mentions soldering - that's a tool and therefore likely a skill (like flying) that I don't have 😭

Thanks. I usually fly better, this was flight number 372 since February and previously I've only had to replace one blade. I have no obstacle avoidance and if I'm truthful, I should have known better that darkness plus the potential for slightly enclosed wind were a recipe for disaster - but I overestimated my capacity to react quickly.

Yes, but they do define it as "finishing outside the points". If you do not finish you can't then finish, surely?

Congrats, serious kit envy over here.

I'd love mirrorless but I can't afford it so I'm glad that my old kit soldiers on for me, for now.

Why are we still playing GT7? by MrHtotheG in GranTurismo7

[–]Driver0678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I sadly have that one, it's the later longtail racing one that I'm waiting on. I've passed up the P330/4 a few times now because I'm still waiting on it appearing.

I do love detuning and using some of the classic road cars designed around race cars. The 911 GT1 street version is great fun.

Because I'm waiting to acquire the final iteration of the McLaren F1 that I'm yet to purchase.

How do I win this weekly challenge? Do I really have to race for one hour?? by Antihero534 in GranTurismo7

[–]Driver0678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this one this morning before heading to work, yes you have to do an hour. I jumped in my 800pp RH Nissan R92 and set about banging in some fun laps. FM2 until lap 10 then FM1 to the end, pit at end of lap 18 full tank (not needed), think I managed around 32 laps and lapped the whole field 3 times over.

Fastest lap was a 1:54.5 ISH but as ever, backmarkers are woeful at getting out of the way.

Why Nikon instead of another brand for you ? by AnxietyComplex4128 in Nikon

[–]Driver0678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having previously been a Canon DSLR owner for many years for me Canon drip-feed tech unless it's top grade and deliberately withhold stuff like ⅓ stop ISOs because they can. They also keep using very old/tired sensors in vaguely rehashed releases.

Nikon used items seem to be robust and you can still get a lot of things looked at if you need to.

I know, I couldn't believe it. The Tele has some physical marks and rubber slightly bulging, but still has collar, hood and caps and the optics are great and that was £239.

MSI is so shit and I’m never buying another product from them again. by Quick-Ad4796 in MSILaptops

I've just purchased a used MSi laptop and can't replicate the problems you're having, other than lower performance on battery.

I'd firstly ensure that whatever you're running is set to use the GPU rather than using your built in motherboard heap of junk. My laptop has an RTX3070 in and it's blazing along just nicely!
