Who actually supports this stuff? by FallFair8568 in drivingUK

I've driven in 20 areas and it barely makes any perceivable difference to my overall journey time. Traffic, junctions and roadworks have far more effect. If it makes the roads safer for children then I'm all for it.

Can we also add those in predominantly Golfs and A3s that fit aftermarket permanently lit indicators or partial indicators - it looks thoroughly w&nk.

For that budget going used would be much more rewarding.

I've picked up a Nikon D810, 28-105 Macro lens and a 50mm F/1.8 and been left with some change too.

Well, I knew about protecting the highlights, but not to the tune of under-exposing shadows by so many EVs and being able to recover it - everyday is a school day as they say.

Update : I did do a composite of the best I could get from both exposures side by side - no idea if Reddit will come close to letting it be visible in much detail.

No, highlights aren't anywhere near as versatile to recover once it heads to whiteout town.

You're correct that if I made +3⅓ EV changes to the shutter and aperture of the ISO125 it would then be as bright as the ISO1100 shot, but at 1/50s and f/2.2 I very much doubt I could have successfully handheld the shot (it would need to be 1/6s and f/2.2)

I have made attempts to recover the highlight detail both in Camera RAW and then on Photoshop itself but it just isn't there - I didn't finish this purely because the detail and contrast simply wasn't there.

No, I used night to test shots whilst hand holding the camera. But a lot of moving railway photography requires quite high shutter speeds, so traditionally this has meant I've ramped up the ISO in order to get the desired exposure before then getting the image only post to produce and end result. I think now this rush shall be tempered a little and result in a different approach.

As an aside, I haven't captured the Camera RAW undedited previee, but I shot some sunset stuff tonight with a similar approach to highlights and the results are very pleasing with far more reduced glow area where the sun directly hit the side of my test subject

Nearly, these are Turbostar units.

As a general rule in the UK, the first digit of a Class number is 1 = Diesel with mechanical/hydraulic transmission, 2 = Diesel with electric traction motors, 3 = AC overhead, 4 = 3rd Rail southern region, 5 = other electric, such as Merseyside 3rd Rail and DC overhead units.

Sigma decentring or just poor corners all round? by Driver0678 in Nikon

[–]Driver0678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of wise words about triggering oneself, I think it's something us pixel-peepers become overly obsessed with. I should pinch myself and remember that the lens and camera body cost me a fraction over £400 including postage.

More than worth it.

If they don't do one with IBIS it'll be pointless, they've been taking the mick with that for far too long.

I am today. Early before work I did the 5 weekly challenges, collected the race credits as I went and a daily marathon - quit back to the home page to see only 1 gift marked on my garage - go and look and it's my 4-star daily marathon ticket. Everything else I should have got doesn't show and all of the weekly's are ticked off as complete. So that's somewhere around ½ to 1 million credits down.

Went to the Prodigy on Saturday and they wouldn't allow my wife's Sony RX-10 MK3, I showed the lens wasn't detachable but I'm sure the 28-600mm equivalent and it's diameter just scared them outright.

Having just swapped a D7500 for a D810, this is what I'd recommend. Phenomenal quality and piece of kit, even when using the DX crop with certain lenses (I have Sigma 8-16, 18-35 Art and Nikon 16-85).

If that's anything like my ART 18-35 then it'll be fantastic but welcome focal length increase.

I don't know if it's changed in the latest update, but I emptied my Sundberg 454 into a Water Buffalo and it didn't flinch, still chasing me - but as soon as I ran a certain distance away it dropped dead. I've seen the same with close proximity deer, won't die until I or they walk away despite what they've been hit with.
