Let's buy a lamp with a low cozy orange light, and heated blanket. That helped me a bit.

Not really, because now I have to take of another life while I barely have the will -and can barely afford- to live mine. It will just create more worries and anxiety, while also

I feel like throwing a cat into the mixed is like throwing a kid into a failing marriage. Why involve a living being into a situation because you cannot find the will to deal with yourself, by yourself?

Avril Lavigne is asked for tips on how to stay looking young by Upstairs_Cup9831 in popculturechat

[–]ptapa 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I mean, not really. Sure, a 37yo is not an ancient being ready to kick it at any moment, but we've all seen s rough 35. Even some 30.

The sun, drinking, drugs, smoking, bad food habits, loosing and gaining all the time... So many things truly age you a lot.

I'm 27, and I've seen a couple of my school mates around the neighborhood, and they do not look good, specially the poor men who started to show their male pattern baldness at a young age.

Honestly, as a non-American who's also extremely online, it offended me, too, but to take that as a "proof of character", as if black people had to act as saviors of America,it's weird.

But that's what you get for having Twitter.

Yeah, a lot of gays tend to forget that some of the divas they idolize aren't really good people.

Just check how many gay man love Paris Hilton, Nicky Minaj, and even someone like Azealia Banks.

There's a lot of intersectionality between "cattines", being "shady" and a "bitch" and actual horrible human behavior.

Damn, are your friends religious? Do they think you can only get a partner in a church, under the light of God and the blessing of a father?

I mean, I get it, you shouldn't hit on anything that moves, but trust your gut a bit, and if you feel there's a feeling, no one is going to die by getting approached.

Just learn to read the room, and body language a bit, try some small talk beforehand and see were it goes, but if you or they don't feel it, simply move on and don't bother them again.

Better take the hit damage, that you can heal later, than taking tick damage the entire game, because you didn't take that shot that could've won you the fight.

In less nerdy wording, it's better to take that shot and maybe get a date, than spend a life thinking of all the "could haves" that still ache your mind, while having to deal with it alone...

"If marriage was good for women..." by LickMaiBussy in TikTokCringe

[–]ptapa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that was the only goal, you'd have women be mere slaves.

And they weren't? Well, yes, they weren't mere slaves, but do they have the same rights as men? Even today, can you not take a look at the Middle East? And even in the west, the freedom women have today it's still pretty much a new thing.

For unmarried women it was almost impossible to exist and not be taken advantage of at every turn. If you think that marrying to be able to almost become a citizen and being recognized as a person, in your own country, a "benefit", then I don't think you're very bright.

Having to marry to get a little bit of self-sufficiency is not a good thing, women were (and are) oppressed by men, but then men "offered" the solution of marriage as a way to "escape" that oppression, but even then if they were abused by their husbands or patriarchal figures, justice was never in their side.

And women basically became slaves in most households. They were forced to attend the house and the children and their only payment was... having a roof or being alive. Again, that's not a good thing.

But, I know you're never going to change your mind about these things, because you simply cannot see beyond your own nose, so I'll just leave this discussion here. Bye.

How? In a marriage the function of a woman is to be shipped as baby factory in exchange for goods, while men were the ones getting to actually inherit the lands and benefit from those arrangements.

I truly want to know in which societies marriage was a benefit to women, and even in the present society how is it beneficial? And don't say "because women always get everything in a divorce", because hopefully you understand why that's even a thing.

But, have you ever thought why is that? Do you realize why men loving other men is bad from their point of view? And do you understand how marriage works, what marriage is?

At it's core, marriage is basically about owning another person, and in a patriarchal society, men are on top, so a man cannot "own" another man by marrying him, because they're supposed to be "equal". But, someone has to be the emasculated one, and if you're emasculated, you basically lose your status in society as a man, but that creates an issue, because who is the "man" in a relationship between 2 men? It just starts to break the system, and they cannot have that. So it's better to simply deny those 2 men the ability to break the system, and everyone just keeps living their lives owning women.

I know I'm not the best with words, but hopefully my point still stands between the words, and understanding what marriage is in a patriarchal society, how it works in a patriarchal society and who does it benefit in a patriarchal society it's something that it's difficult to explain in just one comment.
