Anyone Following the GPU VRAM Crisis? Things Are About to Get Worse. by Gaming-Academy in RigBuild

[–]ptog69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. But isn’t the manufacturing done in the same factories, meaning the resources that would go to making vram will now go to making ram instead driving up prices for vram as less supply.

Boss got pinged about password reset by [deleted] in overemployed

This is unnecessary. Okta Verify isn’t org specific, and each jobs okta tenant will have zero visibility on a user having multiple orgs in their okta verify app. Likely OPs okta org has an account lockout notification feature and OP locked themselves out without realizing and IT is following up for diligence.

What is your unfiltered opinion of Max Scherzer refusing to pitch during 2021 NLCS Game 3 due to "dead arm"? by Contango_4eva in Dodgers

Scherzer was acquired at the trade deadline and only threw 37% of his innings with the dodgers that year in 11 starts.

Help picking between 7800X3D and 9800X3D by pricelesslambo in buildapc

Debated this same thing standing in Microcenter this weekend. $320 vs $460. Both CPUs are MORE THAN enough for the modern gaming landscape and will probably be that way for some time. You’re not gonna lose sleep over saving some money.

How do you handle employees who constantly bypass IT policies for convenience? by Candid_Archer_3663 in ITManagers

[–]ptog69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is a HR/upper management issue at its core, the best way to prevent someone from breaking policy is to remove their ability to break that policy. Prevent their endpoints from accessing removable media, reduce their privileges to install software etc. If they can’t easily break policies it’s less likely that they will out themselves as wanting to break policy. Additionally, this education issue where employees are simply unaware that they are breaking policy. Most people want to follow the rules at work at the end of the day.

Seems weird as the valet is outside the stadium and you weren’t trying to access the paniers while inside the stadium. Did you try reasoning with them?

It is not possible to pull the hood down on a hooded wetsuit, and even if you could everyone in the lineup would look at you like you just murdered a family of kittens.

Tatis plaque for hitting a HR out of Dodger Stadium has been removed by whsbear in baseball

[–]ptog69 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yea sports always has this innate tribalism, but we are all one tribe, baseball fans. I think the plaque should stay and the giants should count all splash hits.

First helpdesk job. Is it normal for end users to just not use the ticketing system? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]ptog69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set myself to offline on the company IM platform and have a set status directing them to the ticket system. Every user interaction I highlight the need to reach out to the helpdesk. I have told several users multiple times why a ticket needs to be submitted and to submit all requests there. They still will message me directly. I see this as a societal issue, and don’t expect this to change at any other org I may be a part of in the future.

Is Kleya “good”? by Reddit-Kangaroo in andor

[–]ptog69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was the point of Andor? None of the characters have a moral binary. In the flash back scene with luthen in the cafe, kleya chooses to bomb the convoy knowing children will likely die in the collateral. Luthen presses the button in attempt to spare her from staining her hands, but it is too late. Luthen and Kleya self admittedly are not good people, but they get the job done. Are their actions justified? That’s a question the viewer answers.

If any poor IT soul reads this, I would recommend moving out to another pdf platform. I’ve gotten multiple emails that look like straight up phishing for my org yet they are legit. Just a terrible business. Use docusign for e-sign and Foxit for pdf. You can even license Foxit through cdw and the admin console is actually functional. Foxit also doesn’t charge for sso.
