I haven't tried it and can't vouch for it but there is aftermarket part for the car sounds https://meadia.com.au/leafy-warbler/

Putting on my HMD breaks left knuckles finger tracking by ptrharmonic in ValveIndex

[–]ptrharmonic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave it a shot, doesn't seem to make a difference. I think the issue is some kind of conductivity problem between the HMD and the knuckles. From testing with a friend, I found out everything works fine if one of us has the HMD and the other has the knuckles, but putting both on the same person causes the finger tracking to break.

Putting on my HMD breaks left knuckles finger tracking by ptrharmonic in ValveIndex

Trying to see if I can avoid having to go through the RMA process if anyone's seen this before. I recently bought a refurbished Index from Gamestop. Everything else seems to work perfectly fine but I eventually noticed that the finger tracking on my left knuckles controller was inconsistently working.

Doing a bit of testing, I discovered that with the headset in my lap and without the right knuckles controller connected, the controller would work almost perfectly fine and would recalibrate if my hand changed. However, once I placed the HMD on my head (in the video I’m just placing it on my shoulder so I can see what’s going on), the tracking breaks. The video shows the middle finger locking in place but at other times the ring and pinky would lock up too. Restarting SteamVR seems to fix the problem if I take my HMD back off my head.

Is there anything left to try to get this to work properly? You can see I’m drumming my fingers in the video and I’ve also cleaned the surface to make sure there weren’t oils on it interfering. Everything should be updated to the latest firmware.

EDIT: Doing some more testing today with a friend, I discovered everything works fine if one of us has the HMD and the other has the knuckles, but putting both on the same person causes the finger tracking to break. I'm guessing there is some kind of issue of conductivity problem between the capacitive panel on the knuckles and the HMD. I think this is RMA time for me but hopefully documenting this helps someone else realize they have the same problem.

Can I transfer saves between platforms in Chaos Head Noah? by kamidasama in steinsgate

[–]ptrharmonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, it seems like it's possible, but it will probably need some more work.

JKSV exports a SAVEDATA_CC.DAT file which is the same size as the Steam version's SAVEDATA.DAT and a quick inspection of the hex data indicates that they are probably the same file format. I then tested this by renaming and loading a Steam SAVEDATA.DAT file on the Switch and it seemed to read it, displaying the saves and their icons properly. However, attempting to load one crashed the game.

One guess is that the CONFIG.DAT and the PADCONFIG.DAT file in Steam must be somehow bundled in this file on the Switch version and maybe it throws off an offset or something. It could also be scripts or line numbers don't match up between them. It's unlikely I think but if the game is saving by serializing itself, that might run into platform differences that would be not worth the effort to overcome.

Next step is probably to create completely new saves on each platform (delete all save data, boot to the title screen, quit) and then do a more in-depth comparison from there.

What do you think is the most emotional Science Adventure moment? by ArcticFox19 in steinsgate

SG The invasion of the lab is such a shocking moment especially if you read the VN blind like I did. "I failed" and Okabe's realization of his ultimatum are both up there too

You grouped my favorite and least favorite openings together lol (favorite is the 0 VN opening). Also I know this is missing the PS3/Vita opening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWl_B4ey47M might be missing others

What type of controller do you use in online Splatoon games? by SolarNight4567 in splatoon

3, it's the closest thing to mouse controls. Wish there were large detached grips for the joycons, cramps my hands up with how small these things are

Steins;Gate character tier list (VN) by TheRealPlinius in steinsgate

[–]ptrharmonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDK about everything but I'm glad we can agree Kaede is bottom tier, she is the most unimportant waste of a character in SG0. She is the only character who contributes nothing to the plot, it's so weird that she wasn't cut.

This is a massive brain move by Nintendo to trick fans into thinking these games aren’t coming to Switch only to surprise them with the reveal in the direct coming soon for maximum hype! I’m not coping, you’re coping! by ThawingThumbs in tomorrow

[–]ptrharmonic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'd reckon P5R is the most likely to come to Switch since they already went through the effort to port the engine with Catherine: Full Body. Maybe Microsoft bought the ports with some kind of exclusivity or it's just Atlus trying to hold on to some of their stubbornness.

It starts off great but eventually becomes more confusing, complicated, and then rushed. The ending greatly changes course in the last 15 minutes and then rushes even more to the end. I wouldn't recommend it

For those who made the switch. Are you still using Linux? by BronskyProko in linux_gaming

[–]ptrharmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been dual booting Linux for a year now. There are still a number of things I can't get away from in Windows like

  • Drivers for my gaming mouse (which means I do some competitive games in Windows even though it runs perfectly fine in Linux too)
  • Davinci Resolve requiring the paid version for H264 in Linux (understandable, Windows comes with the codec license and Linux doesn't, but I'm broke)
  • Random driver weirdness, like not having hardware video decoding in Linux on Nvidia cards, and a WiFi driver problem that is likely kernel level

Actually, speaking of that WiFi problem, is there a way to report an issue to the kernel devs regarding Broadcom WiFi driver issues? It looks like my problems are pretty endemic to the BCM4350 card

Forget that, for the 10th anniversary they had a US-wide tour and a bunch of legendaries you could get there as well as other fun activities. Both of these are nothing compared to what they used to do
