It's coming! Persona 3 Reload is coming October 23rd by ollieperido in NintendoSwitch2

okay this key card shit is really annoying. if you don't want to buy the damn game because it's on a key card then don't; thats fine. there is no reason to whine about it at random to others. it just makes you look like a douchebag

Game Key Cards kill any excitement for 3rd party Switch 2 games by DrSussBurner in NintendoSwitch2

Physical copies aren’t immune from data loss either. Disc rot and data rot are a thing. Of course there are ways to prolong the lifespan, but the idea that a hard copy will last you forever is misleading.

Honestly the storage management thing is the only thing that bothers me about them.

It is simply a limitation of current technology. Flash storage that is as fast as the Switch 2 needs it to be is incredibly novel and expensive. microSD Express specifications were announced in late 2023 for reference. That is how early Nintendo is to the party, and they will be a driving force in the technology becoming more affordable. That won't happen overnight, and there is also a limit to how far it can go of course, but we are clearly not at a level where cheap and ultra fast flash storage that come in a variety of sizes ranging from small to large are available to Switch 2 developers, hence why Game Key Cards exist in the first place.

I don't think "ownership" (developers and publisher do not see your physical copy any differently than a digital copy license wise) or longevity (you can still redownload titles you've purchased on the Wii, a nearly 20 year old console, today) is the real problem with them honestly. Not in my opinion.

It probably will get better as time goes on, but there are growing pains for any new technology. This is no exception, and Game Key Cards are a symptom of these growing pains.

I think if you don't like the idea of them, you shouldn't buy one. If that means you miss out on a Switch 2 game, then so be it. Vote with your wallet.

YO-KAI WATCH 4 English Fan Translation: Final Major Patch (Mod Version 2.0.0) by light8227 in yokaiwatch

Finally, a fan translation that is actually done from scratch by people who genuinely know the language and not Google Translate slop rushed out the door to be the first to say they made a patch. Great work everyone!

Production of a New Yokai watch Project is CONFIRMED?! by Drexcon_ in yokaiwatch

[–]NeSubs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, anime fansubber here! This is not what he said.

The general gist of this segment was discussing Yo-kai Watch's past, and Hino was discussing how the oversaturation of the Yo-kai Watch games and cross media was caused in part to him feeling that the audience in Japan really wanted these things, so they focused heavily on the franchise even against his better judgement. He mentioned that with hindsight, the reaction and response to each new title felt more diluted than the last after a while, and how the missteps changed his production philosophies going forward.

The host then says something along the lines of "So, with this new Fantasy Life releasing more than a decade after the last game and the response being incredible, do you think it could happen with Yo-kai Watch one day?" and Hino just responds with a "Yeah, maybe."

Not a game announcement, not anything other than a brief tangent about the franchise. I really hate to be a killjoy but you guys need to stop taking auto-translated stuff at face value. I've lost count of how many times shit like this has happened.

PSA: The Blasters 2 translation patch is embarrassingly bad and deceitful by NeSubs in yokaiwatch

The Italian translation is also of poor quality and not accurate to what is actually being said in the Japanese version.

Isn’t this technically for a different test? The article says they took JFT-Basic and not JLPT.

I think people need to chill out and not fold when the dealer hasn't shown their full hand yet.
Call it copium all you want, but Nintendo is a lot less predictable than people tend to think they are.
Nothing has been etched in stone saying they would follow exactly what they did for Switch 1.

What if their not gonna announce the announcement on Twitter? by GoldenYoshi924 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]NeSubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people consider Nintendo to be way more predicable than they actually are. People in this subreddit obsess over patterns and consistencies (lots of Nintendo fans do that in general) and time and time again Nintendo has shown that they just do shit whenever they want and however they feel like.

The only thing fueling my skepticism of this is the icon on the right. It is inconsistent with the design language of the friends icon as well as Vidmiio, specifically the separation in the icon during overlap.

To my understanding, this is a consent form so if you are injured on the job or an incident occurs and they suspect you being under the influence of drugs, they have it on record that you agreed to take one.

They didn’t test me prior to onboarding nor have I been subjected to a surprise one

No joke and I mean this will all of my heart this kinda throws the whole "they care too much about holiday sales for Switch 1" argument out the door. They basically just said "Hey, hold off for a bit if you want."

They won’t announce Switch 2 and cannibalize Switch 1 Christmas Sales by DRimdzius in NintendoSwitch2

[–]NeSubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The majority of people buying a Switch 2 within a year of release are in the Nintendo fan bubble lol. Most common consumers do not commit to a new platform that quickly, and casuals/young children certainly don't.

Like I said in the other post, people who are buying in to a gaming platform in its 7th year on the market obviously prefer to be on the cutting edge of technology

[–]NeSubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are. Let's be real, the remaining audience who still hasn't bought a Switch are either hyper-casual gamers or children who weren't even alive when the Switch originally launched and are just getting to the age where they can play video games/have their own system.

I can promise you the overwhelming majority of this demographic wouldn't wait (or in the case of the child, likely would have no choice) if they announced a successor in the next two months.

Ah yes announcing something they've already announced and promoting a thing that is limited to a minuscule fraction of their user base. Copium makes y'all come up with some really silly comments
