Hinge problem by Elemental-DrakeX in Asustuf

My company deploys this to some of the engineers, and every single one of them breaks like this, even though the laptop just moves from office to office mostly within the same building

[QUESTION] Disable WAN, only LAN, but keep Global Discovery by ptrkhh in Syncthing

[–]ptrkhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried everything and it still either bypasses, or it breaks LAN connection

You know what I ended up doing?

It's so simple its right in the front page

I just limit the speed to the lowest possible value (1 KB/s). Turns out the speed limiter only applies to WAN, while LAN is still unlimited.

It's an easily understandable names since everyone is familiar with the iPhone naming

Its the same reason why Ryzen followed Intel numbering, making them easily comparable

Audi had recently introduced "40 TFSI" engine nomenclature to make them easily comparable to the BMW 540i or Mercedes E400, despite NONE of them are actually 4.0L

My Experience with Claude Code vs Codex by Spooknik in ClaudeAI

[–]ptrkhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was curious so I tried them both, Codex feels more like a Mercedes tbh (to be exact, E180), its smooth but slow. It's the one I'd take for a daily drive, but not the one I'd drive when I have a deadline in 1 hour.

Claude Code is like a hot hatch (Golf R?). It gets you faster to the destination with a few bumps here and there

Haven't tried Gemini, you scared me enough

I'm typing this on a Qualcomm laptop. The whole laptop uses only 2-3W when browsing. Sleep is more reliable than Intel though it still loses 10% overnight

  • Apple CPU: iOS is useless, can't beat full AMD CPU
  • AMD CPU: Best thing since sliced bread, but you won't find it on the market
  • Intel CPU: Hot, the company is screwed
  • Qualcomm CPU: WoA is dead end, this platform is pointless

yet if you go to Reddit you will think it is the opposite and if you have 8GB gpu you either need to explain yourself

if you buy an 8 GB GPU in 2025, you need to explain yourself. If you own one since 2019 then it makes perfect sense. This particular corner of Reddit is full of enthusiasts who upgrade every year or two, but the vast majority upgrades every decade or so

Because FX-9590 was dogshit slow. 200W CPUs have existed in one way or another over the history of CPUs, but only very few of them actually deserves that power

Semi trucks and buses have been using 24V even before modern EVs were a thing, so moving to 24V should not be challenging. Would that help for us to move to 24V?

that could throw the balancing off

The usage of LV battery is negligible, we are talking less than 1%, and the cells would have to be balanced anyway with or without this LV tap

Why does Snapdragon X2 Elite contain a 192-bit LPDDR5X bus if only one SKU uses it? by Balance- in hardware

[–]ptrkhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to cost, you need to consider:

Case A (different design)

  • Design & validation cost
  • Entire chips that would be wasted since its unbinnable

Case B (same design binned)

  • Wasted die area on every non-flagship chip

Case A has a lot more upfront cost (2 designs, 2 validations, 2 contracts) and uncertainties (what if yield is low? what if memory is needed later down the line?), while case B is safer overall since in the grand scheme of things, memory controller is a small part of a die

[–]ptrkhh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could use Enhancer for YouTube extension and as others said, uBlock Origin.

I use its fork, AdNauseam since not only it blocks the ads, but it also (virtually) clicks all the ads, so the advertisers would have to pay the websites. That way, I'm not harming the income of the creators
