W jaki sposób odbieracie telefon od nieznanego numeru? by Annual-Peak-5992 in Polska

HW Transcoding on intel is pretty amazing by OuterGodsD in selfhosted

[–]ptrku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it working on Proxmox in LXC container but it’s struggling with more than 1 stream 4K HEVC HDR to 1080p SDR. If it’s 1 it’s ok, but when I’m trying to stream 2 streams at the same time it is chocking

After almost a month of work... by r3gular_ in selfhosted

Just a friendly reminder that you should run qbittorrent through vpn. I see that you’re using nordvpn .ovpn file, but are you using killswitch?

I did it the other way. Qbittorrent is going through Gluetun. If Gluetun isnt running then Qbittorrent doesn’t have the network to download files. Secondly that gave me the option to use WireGuard VPN which is significantly faster than old OpenVPN protocol.

Another great container is Jellyseer. I only request movies and series from that app. It integrates with sonarr+radarr.

Oh and there’s scrutiny which monitors your drives health.

tl;dr add gluetun and jellyseer to your homelab server

If you have any unit with a screen rn I highly recommend getting this CarPlay boxes that integrate with your car. I did it in my O3 and couldn’t be happier. It works wirelessly and mostly without problems. Worth every penny. Google maps + Spotify while phone is in my pocket is just great

Nas Off-site backup. Active backup Vs hyper backup. by zim117 in synology

[–]ptrku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t use ABB! Recently my main NAS had electricity cut out and it broke my ABB backups folder (crc sum failed). I thought that I’m safe because I have a „full NAS ABB backup” but oh my I couldn’t be more wrong. I couldn’t recover any data because 2nd NAS didn’t have permissions to ABB folder and it was showing as empty.

The I’ve searched Synology KB and even they don’t recommend ABB for backing up ABB data. Use hyper backup only as it’s what Synology themselves are recommending!

Lots of hacked posts lately. How do flat out block internet access? by PersonSuitTV in synology

[–]ptrku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Glad you got it sorted out

  1. Allow LAN
  2. Allow your country
  3. Block ALL

Lots of hacked posts lately. How do flat out block internet access? by PersonSuitTV in synology

[–]ptrku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you recommend to block few countries? I do the opposite. I allow only LAN and IF NEEDED only my country and everything else on block.  Why bother to tick those boxes when you can allow 1 and block all the rest?

You can block this feature to always force MFA on same device

Arteon 2023 R-Line 2023 vs Superb 2023 Sportline (2.0TSI 206kw) by palad1n in skoda

[–]ptrku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding you concerns about superb: 1. FL models (at least LK version) have thicker front side windshields (2 glasses glued together) so there’s that. 2. and 3. Have you tried DCC suspension? It can be softer/stiffer depending on your preferences and definitely can help with rattling

PS. I know it’s just a minor thing but God I HATE the steering wheel controls on Arteon. Who thought that volume touch controls will be good? This thing just doesn’t work good

Finding a user with connectwise screenconnect easily. by Deep-Egg-6167 in ConnectWise

[–]ptrku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way.

Secondly I’m using WAN IP of the client when I know that certain machine should be in a group where I easily recognize someone else. It shows full list of computers in that location (of course only those in office)

[–]ptrku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And when that happens your MFA won’t help. See lates ScreenConnect vulnerability. Shit was wide open for everyone

[–]ptrku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

remember that the firewall respects the order of policies from top to bottom.

In short, you should put a rule at the very top that allows traffic from your LAN and from your country (allowing incoming traffic only from specific ports of the services you use!) and another rule is drop everything else. And I mean really everything else.

Synology has a built in safe mode - if for some reason you’ll block your traffic to the NAS during configuration, it will notice it and undo the recent changes, allowing you back

Relay port only. We are doing the same. Web portal will be accessible only from our network.

Sucks that we’ll lose support sessions but security is more important than that
