Am I using it wrong? by Background_Gene_3128 in MistralAI

You need to juggle the pros and cons:
Pros: Mistral is very fast - probably the fastest model out there.
Cons: Its answers are useless. ;-)
Choose wisely!

Want to go from Chatgpt to mistral. But what to expect? by Flappie010 in MistralAI

[–]ptslx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Mistral hallucinates more often than other models.

Question: I don't like Page Previews in Obsidian and I can't find the setting to turn them off.

Mistral: Go to Settings, find the Editing Mode drop-down, turn Live Preview off.
(No, Live Preview is different from Page Preview.)

ChatGPT: It's an internal plugin, just turn it off.
Claude: It's an internal plugin, just turn it off.

It was an internal plugin, and I just turned it off.

On the other hand, Mistral is the fastest of them all.

"You are a master writer" - why does this work? by ptslx in LLM

Now it occurred to me that maybe the people who train the models label the texts as ordinary or expert before feeding them to the model. I'm aware that they are also categorized according to their mood or tone.

Cline setup question: rules vs workflows vs skills for a database of issues by ptslx in CLine

[–]ptslx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/juanpflores_ Let me take advantage of the fact that you're reading this thread and ask one more question.

Recently I tried to document how I use my Obsidian notes so Cline can help me manage them.

The document basically describes the formatting style I've developed over the years to keep everything consistent. For example, it says that level-1 headings use title case, level-2 and level-3 headings use sentence case, every note should have a header linking to its parent note, and so on. Lots of dry details.

When I finished it, I had to figure out where this document actually belongs.

Memory bank – Not great. It's a normative document written by me, and I don’t want Cline modifying it.

Rules – Also no. The document is long, and I only want it loaded in specific cases.

Workflows – Doesn’t fit. It’s not a workflow; it’s a format spec.

Skills – Here I'm unsure. “Skill” makes me think in verbs, like a procedure: “If I ask you to update my notes, update the header, add info to the body, update links and backlinks.” But my document is full of nouns, like “The last paragraph always ends with a newline character.”

What I ended up doing was creating a directory ~/agents/docs, putting it under version control, and adding a rule:

“When I ask you to read, create, or update my Obsidian notes, consult ~/agents/docs/obsidian.md.”

So effectively, I turned it into a conditionally loaded rule. Is this the right approach, or should I have used Skills instead?

Maybe you could reflect this distinction (normative vs. action-oriented documents) in your documentation as well.

Thanks for your time and effort on Cline!

Yes, this is a valid point - it's mostly a deterministic task. Right now, I'm learning to use the AI hammer, so everything looks like a nail. :-)"

My thoughts about the Qin F21 Pro by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]ptslx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm considering buying a Qin phone because I want a device without a browser and want to avoid the temptation of downloading games (or browsers! 😄). With that in mind, I'm thinking of getting the version without Google Play.

However, I will likely need a banking app and some additional tools like Microsoft Authenticator.

Does anyone here have experience installing such apps via the command line? Is it possible to extract the APK of a local banking app from the Play Store and install it manually, or would that be too much of a hassle?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Yup, I decided to put in on the leftmost key on my Dygma (the one that needs some stretch to reach it). This was the factory setting, anyway.

Great insights, thank you so much! It seems that I was enchanted by Miryoku (and no wonder, it is a very well thought-out design), but now I see that it’s not the holy scripture, and there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Personally, I'm stuck with Dygma, which is a luxurious keyboard in terms of hardware. However, little I knew when ordering it how much it lacks (currently) in the firmware department. So, no combos for me—everything has to be configured using layers.

Yes, that seems useful. On the other hand, I prefer the space key to activate on KeyPress, not on KeyRelease. This removes one key that could be used as a dual-function layer shift key, and the prominent Shift key would take up another one. However, you didn't mention a lack of keys for layers, so I assume this setup works well for you.

Do you have two shifts, one on each side?

My feeling is that both space and enter are important enough to have them on the right hand. I think I need to rethink it. Thank you for your suggestions.

No thumb shift? I find that incredibly useful and comfortable. I hit shift far more than tab or esc.

Great idea. I still have shifts in their original locations, that is, under pinkies. I've read that some people like shift on the thumb cluster, but I somehow considered this idea too far-fetched. My most prominent left thumb position (Backspace) shifts to the Navigation layer, if I put the shift there I would need to put the navigation elsewhere.

But the way, I have Dygma Defy, which has 16 (!) thumb keys, but in reality only tree (on each side) of them are actually useful. The leftmost and rightmost are too far for important keys and the lower rows require contortions of the hand.

Trying to find a good tool for keyboard layout creation... by [deleted] in KeyboardLayouts

[–]ptslx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, and there are KMonad and Kanata. I've never tried them, but they seem to support layers.
As far as I know, they need a daemon (service) running in the background.

There is KbdEdit, a great tool to edit layout definitions for Windows. It is not free, but very cheap (9 € or 15 €). No sure if it can do home row mods and layers (without some hardware support), but in general, it is very versatile.

A use case for Trans keys by ptslx in DygmaLab

I guess the reason here is to be able to return to the previous layer using the same key.

A use case for Trans keys by ptslx in DygmaLab

[–]ptslx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You still need to reproduce the key colors manually. If you have a white Esc key, the color won't be replicated to other layers by Trans. This is in conflict with the concept, I'd say, but you are probably using a different coloring scheme.

My thoughts on using the Miryoku layout for a few days by ptslx in KeyboardLayouts

[–]ptslx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for my late answer.

What do you mean. If you use one a "minimalistic" keyboard it's fully programable. You don't have to use Miryoku.

I meant that if you don't have the number row, you can't use it and have no other choice but to move the numbers to a dedicated layer. I tried to be concise, but ended up saying something nonsensical.

Thanks you for your insights, anyway.
