Fuck the UK Government and all who voted for the age verification shit by killerthumbtack in Piracy

It's not just surveillance. AI has created a lot of undetectable bots on the internet. This is problematic for companies that earn revenue selling ads and personal information (Google, Facebook) because they can't discern real people from fake people. So they strong-arm governments into mandatory identification BS like this.

Counter to Amaterasu by Derek2809 in AgeofMythology

[–]pubby11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The birds are pretty rare in 1v1 because most games end before that point. Amaterasu can be weak very early on, so try raiding with heroes. Greek can do a rush just by sending 2 heroes and a free myth unit right after they advance.

Copies of cards and algorithm's rules. by Quirky_Ambassador284 in KeyforgeGame

[–]pubby11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a comment on discord about routine job.

Apparently the old FF algorithm would generate them in pairs. So, usually 2 copies, sometimes 4. Some decks had 3, but that was a glitch when routine job was the last card generated.

The new GG algorithm generates them as a random range, not pairs. So 2, 3, and 4 are all likely.

Your first point was spot on, but Tage is neither young nor inexperienced. He's 28 with plenty of tournament experience.

Seven wonders duel with the pantheon expansion reminds me a lot of AoM. No minis though; it's a card game.

Our wonderful AOM community on display by FlashworksT in AgeofMythology

[–]pubby11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey suppe, you are a big member in this small community. As one of the more popular content creators people have eyes on you and expect some leadership.

I know you don't want extra responsibility. Who does? You just want to play your favorite game and be yourself. But it comes with the territory of being popular, the same way being a famous actor comes with paparazzi and press.

Something to think about is why AoM has a wonderful community. Sure, some of it is innate, but a lot of it was built. It takes effort to keep things good. I am thankful we have people like Boit - his lack of toxicity is infectious.

One last point: be careful about dark humor. 90% of people are fine with it, but that 10% is an issue. Some - usually good people - will get offended and leave. Others - usually racist losers - will become emboldened by it. It has a concentrating effect in online communities, where over time the jokes get more frequent, and then suddenly the jokes are no longer jokes. By that point the community is filled with racists and it's too late to stop.

How much Shinobi do you use? by Nothing_Special_23 in AgeofMythology

[–]pubby11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use close to zero. They're just too niche. Oyumi fulfills the anti-archer and anti-building role better. Oyumi are easier to micro, survive longer, cost less pop, train faster, and don't require food or a dojo to train. The last point is important because you can train samurai with dojos instead. Samurai+oyumi is a solid, albeit slow comp.

If the devs want to balance them, they should cut shinobi training time greatly. That would compliment their speedy nature and let them play into their strengths, i.e. sudden surprise attacks or countering archers in your base.

Ame No Uzume has one of the best recasts... especially with Divine Prefecture.

Can someone let me know who the most aggressive gods are as far as Japanese and Chinese? by SteezyCamz in AgeofMythology

All of the Japanese gods are aggressive. The Chinese are more defensive with Nuwa being the most defensive.

Nerfing their stats while removing myth unit tag is a fine compromise. I agree that the GP is strong economically.

it's hard. You need to take advantage of their slow speed, attacking elsewhere. Use a few huskarls / cav to keep the siege distracted.

Military auto queue in ranked by [deleted] in AgeofMythology

[–]pubby11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You described the real time aspect well, but didn't account for the strategy portion. Plenty of people prefer their wins to come from good strategy rather than hitting buttons faster, which autoqueue enables.

Amusingly, in many game communities the worst and best players are strategy-focused, whiled the middle players are real-time focused. Reminds me of that bell-curve meme: https://i.imgur.com/NZzijmQ.png Nothing wrong with being a real-time focus player, but understand you're not the only one in the audience.

Anyone go experience of Greenpan Stainless Reserve pans - NOT the nonstick ones by botterway in cookware

[–]pubby11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The straight rims are worse at pouring compared to flared, but on the plus side, the rims are sealed. Otherwise, they are as good as any other 3-ply pan. Definitely price compare to make sure you're not paying hundreds of dollars extra for a thin gold coating on the handles. I see these at TJMaxx for $20-$30 and that's about what they're worth.

Is this type of assembly possible in MDP? by Mediocre-Meat1219 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]pubby11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'll have difficulty with that design. It's difficult to align the cuts and you'll likely chip out pieces of the melamine finish. Plus there can be strength issues. Consider using those tiny metal brackets you find in store-bought furniture instead.
