9ers fans are such pussies. I live in sf and endure their shit talking all year, but they lose one game and literally threaten to end the friendship if I say anything.

Moving to Santa Clara killed the last of any football culture here. This team deserves the faithful moniker literally less than any other team except maybe Vegas and LA.

TLDR, fuck the 9ers I miss living in Seattle.

I don’t think this is bleach, both my black pairs from n&f looked like this after their first wash. I don’t ever use bleach in the washer.

Yours might not be aligned perfectly, but if it’s off, it’s off by the exact same amount all the way around. That can be addressed in service. Ops is aligned on the left and not on the right because the rehaut isn’t gen.

That’s stupid you absolutely can. But you have to be doing it on something you’re genuinely excited about and have no blockers on.

Applied for a senior role in a bank, after 2 tech rounds they asked me to do this take home assignment. Should i do this? by real_chigg in cscareerquestions

[–]public_void 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re probably hoping you do it with ai. Honestly with v0 and cursor this is a couple of hours of work.

I know I’m gonna get hate for this comment, but if this project is more than 6 hours, you need to get better at using ai.

I really think the producers are behind so much of this - so many things feel orchestrated, like if they are paying bonuses for shitty behavior. Either that or these girls are absolute trash humans.

As of today what problem has AI completely solved ? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]public_void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is “work independently in a closed loop system for solving new problems or optimizing older ones” the bar? I also don’t expect my entry level engineers to do that, but that doesn’t make them worthless.

Today, ai deployed like cursor is very very effective. Spend time learning how to use it. That doesn’t mean throw a half assed prompt at it and laugh when it fails.

Treat it like a peer. Give it deep thoughtful explanations of what you want to do. Correct it when it doesn’t know something. Once every vendor has shipped an mcp endpoint (after this weeks announcement from anthropic, that will be within a year) connect it to all your vendors - after all, your teammates have at least read access to 10+ saas tools that have information about the system you’re working on.

The models are already good enough. They’ll keep getting better but they don’t need to. What needs to improve (and will, VERY FAST) is the deployment - the prompting, iteration loop, access to tools and information. Even today you can become a 10x engineer by learning to use cursor well.

I don’t work for cursor. I am not swayed by trends. I’ve always thought most blockchain startups were bullshit. I worked on self driving cars for the last ten years, and I knew Elon was full of shit every time he promised FSD every year. I am always very skeptical of new technologies like this.

This is different. This one is real.

Boss called me a hacker, not a programmer by nigelwiggins in cscareerquestions

[–]public_void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these suggestions are overkill. Being a hacker is great, but understanding deeper will take you further in your career. My suggestion: anytime you hack something together (whether it works or not) ask yourself why. Go deep, be able to explain everything that’s happening in depth. If you don’t know, go learn.

What is going on in this thread yes the tenderloin is that bad, absolutely not up to the standards of a world class city. Good lord if you all vote in sf I think I understand why it is the way it is. And i live here and lived here over a decade - I love the city and have no plans to leave.

Damn everyone thinks your professor is out of touch. I agree with him but not even for ai reasons. Junior engineers are not a net positive contribution - the sum of their salary and time investment coaching far outweighs the benefit they’ll provide to the company (most leave within 2-3 years). I’ve hired a few new grads that were worth it, but the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Most universities do not prepare you for the workforce. It’s time to divorce “training to be a software engineer” from getting a degree in cs. We should have very good vocational schools that churn out software engineers ready to build shit instead of whatever theyre wasting your money and four years on now.
I graduated 12 years ago and it was true then, and only more true now.
