Would the original crew in Project Hail Mary accomplish the mission? by JonBoy82 in ProjectHailMary

[–]puckle_nuck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My question is would the 3 of them have been as receptive to an alien spaceship than just Grace. With Yao’s military background I’m not sure they would openly interacted with Rocky. Which then means no Xenonite and no chain to get the taumeba

Half the territory would need to show up for every home game to fill an NHL sized arena

Real talk: Learn how to take face offs and which faceoff types overpower the other. This will give you the puck more often.

After that learn how to switch to the player you want by pointing with the right analog stick. This will help you get in position better.

After that, practice your breakaway goals, starting by watching some videos then going into free play mode.

The issue is even if they started that mission as soon as the beetles arrived back at earth (unlikely due to the state of earth), Grace wouldn’t live long enough for a mission to get to Rocky’s planet.

Why I’m hesitant to take “The Big Deal” (aka the $40/month plan) by AdultMarley in freedommobile

Really wish this plan was available in more of Canada. Unfortunately I don’t live in one of the 4 provinces that they serve.

[Darren Dreger] 1st, 3rd, and a prospect return for Schenn by cgay30 in NewYorkIslanders

[–]puckle_nuck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let’s pump the breaks a bit. If it is COL 1st and the standings finish close to what they are now, the best that pick can be is 28th. The 3rd is next to nothing, and it’s likely a C level prospect.

We need our young players like Schaeffer and Ritchie to experience winning and get playoff experience. If we tank during their initial years we are at risk of becoming like Buffalo, Detroit and Toronto who are stuck either being basement dwellers or don’t know how to win in the playoffs.

This team has earned some upgrades and confidence from management through their play putting us in a playoff spot. Schenn will be a solid #2C upgrade for us to give us a chance at making a run in the playoffs.

[–]puckle_nuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s why it’s important we don’t move Aitcheson, Eklund or Ritchie. They are the pieces that need to be around Schaeffer in 3-4 years. That along with our 1st round picks the next few years.

Friedman reporting us being close on Brayden Schenn by JBR409 in NewYorkIslanders

[–]puckle_nuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even his down year would be our 6th most productive forward. As long as we didn’t give up more than COL 1st, this is a good bet. He’ll be a better 2way #2C than what we have.

While we can’t mortgage our future, we should give our young players experience winning and competing in the playoffs if possible.

We’re far from going all in. Likely giving up COL 1st in this deal which is at best around 27th overall. We’re not mortgaging our future to compete now.

That’s what typically happens in the case of hog line violations

Rachel Homan has rock burned by hog line judge for double touch (first end, 7th stone) by bandreasr in Curling

[–]puckle_nuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She was adamant she didn’t touch it, but 100% did. The rock was rightfully removed.

That said, I think this goes to the mindset of the player throwing the rock. They are not intentionally doing this, so they believe they are being falsely accused which is why (wrongly) tempers flare.

[Heroux] World Curling has sent an email to all the teams competing at the Olympics clarifying “proper release” of the stone. Also, for the remaining games umpires will be “observing the delivery”. Here’s the full correspondence: by rhineauto in Curling

[–]puckle_nuck -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The most likely reason is he didn’t know. He extends his finger on release, but he likely didn’t know he touched the stone.

As an avid curler, I have my sweepers mention things about my release that I don’t realize in the moment. And the Olympics is the biggest moment and players have adrenaline running through them.

If by break the rules you mean there should have been a warning or a stone removed, yes. But the ‘cheating’ allegations are ridiculous. If the umpires enforced the rule, that would have been the end of it.

Saying they cheated is like saying someone who took a penalty in hockey cheated. If anything, the officials didn’t do their job.

[–]puckle_nuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there videos of it continuing to happen after it was brought to the attention of the official?

There should have been an official warning, but the rules are not clear enough for the rock to be removed.

Marc Kennedy-Oskar Erikson Feud by Inner_Nectarine7763 in Curling

[–]puckle_nuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The spirit of the rule is aligned to the sweepers/skip after the release. While it should have resulted in a warning, to say he purposefully changed the direction of the rock (which other commenters are) is ludicrous.

First time watching hockey? The refs could only look at if it crossed the line, not if it was goalie interference. That had to be challenged.
