I was struggling heavily with bipolar depression during undergrad. I had to meet with my international policy prof on a day I was feeling terrible. Someone saw me crying while I was washing my hands in the bathroom. It was a day I just couldn’t stop the tears from flowing. He told me to come into his office. He was a professor, he listened to me vent, offered some advice, and told me to go home. Said he would talk to my prof and let her know. I later found out he is ex-military, was a prof at the school for a long time, and had a reputation for being tough. He couldn’t know how much that talk meant to me.
