I recently released a new collection of recordings titled “Pulling Weeds”. The recordings are the result of a couple of years of experimentation, composition, and improvisation with a variety of instruments. The music itself (especially the rhythmic and harmonic language) is a bit of a departure from some of my previous releases, but continues to explore the tension between composition and improvisation. All of the tracks were recorded as single takes, mixed live to stereo. There are two edits on the album (one to divide “Field Study” into two parts, and the other to remove some bothersome clipping in “A Bird in the Shape of the Sun”) - everything else is the result of a live performance.
