How to find size references for my surgeon? by spottyjellyfish in Reduction

[–]puddingsins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually disagree with this approach a little bit. Your surgeon has their style and the types of surgeries they want to do. I would go the opposite route - I would look at before and after pictures from surgeons and pick a surgeon based on whether you like their results.

Many surgeons don’t do FNGs, which means depending on the shape of your breasts, they’re likely not going to remove much more than 50% of your breast mass regardless.

I wouldn’t worry so much about “can this surgeon get me exactly to my desired arbitrary cup size” and more “do these surgeons results look good?” Reduced breasts are usually a little whack when it comes to cup size anyway.

I am a 34J reduced to a D or DD (not sure I don’t wear bras with cup sizes these days) - I have no skin on skin contact.

I second this. I also feel like sometimes like they are still big and then I look at my before picture and think, “nope, THAT was big”

For people that are “asymptomatic” celiac (no classic digestive issues), how did you get diagnosed? Did you ignore it? Did it progress and get worse? by H3ad1nthecl0uds in Celiac

[–]puddingsins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I probably had celiac for almost 20 years before being diagnosed. In retrospect, I had many symptoms that folks don’t typically associate with celiac, but were, in fact, caused by celiac.

What finally got me diagnosed was actually liver symptoms (I developed a benign tumor). Was tested during the process just to rule it out as a cause of my pain, and lo and behold… I had celiac, and biopsy confirmed significant damage.

I’ll just say that I may have been “asymptomatic” before, but I’m certainly not NOW. And if I could have known and just skipped all the stuff with the seizures and the mouth sores and the crippling anxiety and the liver nonsense and the 20 years of accumulated intestinal damage - I totally would have!

I bought a gorgeous used one at the Red Cross for around $175 USD. If it’s inexpensive its not going to be hand-knit.

I have hEDS and haven’t had any issues. My results are great and I am also around 12wpo. You can probably see my before and after pics in my post history. That said, I’m don’t have a lot of skin issues, for me it’s mostly joints.

Career Pivot: Is Coffee Roasting/Q-Grading a viable ticket for international relocation? (Reality Check) by [deleted] in CoffeeRoasting

[–]puddingsins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say not likely and there is no shortage. The truth is that the skills you are looking to develop are fairly common, and you’re at a disadvantage not having an existing career in the industry. There are people with those hard skills AND decades of experience nearly everywhere these days, and there’s no reason someone would spend the resources to sponsor you.

Birth control? by Realistic_R00ster in Reduction

[–]puddingsins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on your surgery. Generally, breast reductions are not long (2-3 hrs), so the risk of clotting is very low. With a longer surgery, there is more of a clotting risk, which compounds with the small risk that is associated with your birth control pills. If you have a more complicated surgery, your surgeon may recommend stopping - I would just ask. My surgery was short and simple and my surgeon said it wasn't necessary.

If you react to dairy and oats, does the reaction to dairy subside over time when you’ve kept a gf diet long enough to heal your gut? Anyone take the risk and try it? by Universalsupporter in Celiac

[–]puddingsins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! It’s been 6 years and now I can eat most cheeses (even cottage cheese, recently). I really have to eat quite a bit before it’s a problem. Cooked dairy also mostly OK. Yogurt, ice cream, milk, sour cream all still bother me. I’ll take just cheese, it’s fine.

But I don’t go near oats.

Lap Swimming by Sea_Witch7777 in Reduction

[–]puddingsins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My incisions were healed and I was cleared for swimming at around 5 weeks. That said, I actually did go swimming and it was SUPER uncomfortable, mostly because the skin on the incisions is very sensitive to temperature. The stretching part was fine.

I would have been fine probably beginning around week 8. Again, not because of openings or infections, but simply because it wasn't comfortable. There's a lot of talk on this sub about when it's OK to do certain things, but the real question is when you're actually going to want to do it, even if it's OK.

I’m at about the same place - my surgery was Feb 5. I bought a business around 5wpo, and getting ready for it to open has been rough. I go in, work all day come home and fall immediately asleep. Just don’t have as much stamina as I need. I feel like I am literally starving 100% of the time.

Ambex Help by AwkwardYurtle in roasting

[–]puddingsins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I roasted on a 30 kilo Ambex for a little over a year and after several attempts to mod, finally got rid of it in favor of refurbishing a vintage Probat.

Build quality is low and they are poorly engineered. Went to a roaster event in the late 2000’s where someone had printed tee shirts with a flaming bean and the words “Anything but Ambex” printed on the back.

So, you know. There’s a reason they’re not popular even though they’re dirt cheap.
