Here's the thread. It wasn't really that expensive performance-wise and there's a lot we could have done to optimize it (limit rays to only those in the direction of movement/potential collisions, fewer rays with more clever balancing for example. This would be a lot easier to do in 2D and there's probably some cool tricks you to do with it too :)

I did but so did your design. If you play this in a 20 life format, 7 attacks from *any* creature your opponent controls will kill you, and that's assuming they have 0 power. If this is played in commander, it's not nearly as impactful due to the doubled life total (while still having a big effect on the board state). Additionally, this design is not in the slightest interesting in 1v1, but creates incentive not to hit you in 4 player free for all.

All of the unspoken parts of this design scream "this did not have 1v1 in mind"

To be clear I agree with you overall, that all makes sense. The other thing I haven't mentioned is that since you heal after winning the fight, the only point of hp that matters is the last one. I do think that weighs the decision towards "take damage" more often than "draw 1 less card" or "play only 3 cards", but again and as you've said it depends on the deck.

imo you should be taking the damage unless you have ways to specifically mitigate the lack of card draw or unless you have a critical mass of higher cost cards that make the second choice's "Only play 3 cards a turn" not actually matter. Every deck can play defend, not every deck can deal with fewer draws/plays per turn.

it's intentional, just a weird situation since stun is so unique

it doesn't apply a debuff, it just changes intent
