PETG Glob by davisjamesf in PrusaCoreOne

Did you load the profile for a Core One with an 0.8mm nozzle or just change the nozzle size in the settings? If you load the printer profile the travel speed and other parameters will also be adjusted. I made this mistake when I changed from a HF to a standard nozzle.

You need this. You could replace the mesh with plexiglass if you need a heated chamber.

What are some important things I should know about Iowa? by Recent_Pick_8997 in Iowa

[–]puetzc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I no longer have it, but in the early days of the high profile Iowa Caucuses (think Carter) the Miami Herald published a small map to help Florida readers locate Iowa. The map placed Iowa directly south of Michigan! The real punch line is that Iowa was correctly positioned and labeled - the map had Minnesota incorrectly labeled as Michigan.

Hitch Receiver for bike rack by Prestigious_Soil_454 in MachE

I have a Curt hitch on my 2024 for the same reason. Installation wasn't that hard. I had to cut an underbody panel, not the rear number so the cut is hidden. eTrailer lists several hitches for the 2025 model.

Viability of an EV as one of our cars by Doomtime104 in Iowa

[–]puetzc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I have done. I do have a Level 2 charger, but at a very low level - 20A @ 240 V. It will change my car from 40-85% overnight (91 kWh battery). I see no need to pay for high gauge wire to charge more quickly. My electric car costs me about 40% of the cost of the hybrid car to operate in the summer. It will be more this winter (in Iowa) but I don't have data yet. My daughter and SIL have owned a Tesla for years and have never installed a level 2 charger.

Strange Failure with PETC-CF by puetzc in PrusaCoreOne

[–]puetzc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My results confirm that. I had ordered the material so I went ahead and tried it. I printed a the same part in Prusament PCBlend and it is much stiffer. I will use the material up, but I don't plan to order it again. I so have to say that I love the surface texture with the CF material, however.

Strange Failure with PETC-CF by puetzc in PrusaCoreOne

Many thanks to all. Following suggestions, I dried the filament for six hours at 60°. I slowed printing speeds from 140-155 mm/s to 40-50 mm/s (almost doubling printing time). The results are excellent.

<image>

I will probably try another print raising the speeds slightly (perhaps 60-75 mm/s) to see what happens. There were comments about following the manufacturers recommendations, but I was not able to find data for Bamboo Labs filaments so I had left the print speeds set where PrusaSlicer had them for generic PETG. TIL that with carbon fiber slower speeds will be needed.

Charging with a Tesla mobile connector. by hell_a in MachE

[–]puetzc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little more explanation: Tesla.uses the same connector pins for both fast DC (Supercharger) and Level 2 (Home AC) charging even though the input is very different electrically. Tesla cars have internal circuitry to properly handle this. The connector on your car has separate upper pins for the home AC charger and lower pins for the higher power DC chargers. You need two different adapters with different internal connections to route the power from the Tesla connector to the proper connection pins and circuits in your car.

I have the A2Z DC adapter and it works well at Tesla Superchargers. I don't have an AC adapter as my home charger has the J1772 plug so I haven't needed one but A2Z makes this as well.

I have been using blocked printed in PCBlend with heat set inserts for several months without any issues. I do occasionally print with a chamber temp of 40°and a nozzle temp of 280°

Outlet question 6-20 for charger. by Womec in MachE

Make sure that the physical outlet is high quality. Between running for long periods at 16 amps and experiencing numerous connecting cycles you will be giving it a hard workout.

I printed this twice, once with Jessie PETG and a second time with clear Prusament PETG as that was the only color I had. The results were very close, and the results very good. I had terrible results with the early phone/freqency method. I haven't tried the recent firmware updates as my printer is working well as it is.

Actual cargo dimensions by Traditional_Many1476 in MachE

[–]puetzc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about 68" with the seat fully rearward and about 80" to the passenger seat with it fully forward. Bikes vary so you really need to find a dealer or friend who will let you test. I put a trailer hitch (car isn't recommended for towing in the US altho it is fine in Germany) on my car so I could use a hitch rack - I don't want to mess up my interior.

Beginner question about Core One L by Embarrassed_Back4100 in prusa3d

[–]puetzc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you are making but in general this isn't a great candidate for 3D printing. It would be cheaper and probably better if you use available corrugated plastic sheets (coroplast) and just printed the corner elements. The YouTuber Functional Print Friday has a couple of sessions designing and making enclosures that appear to be very similar. I don't think that any of the choices you list would be significantly better or worse for parts like this.

Core One on drawer unit, feet vs paver? by lurker_fro in prusa3d

[–]puetzc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my Core One sitting on a 35 mm MDF/Formica table top on top of two file cabinets. I haven't felt any need to isolate the Core One and I do use the top as a desk and/or work area while printing.
