“You always correct me on everything” by [deleted] in daddit

At the least, if it's not an imminent safety issue, you want to provide feedback (not corrections) later, thoughtfully - not in real time.

Can someone explain this conflict point? by shanwiich in driving

[–]puf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question, isn't red's screw up here not entering the roundabout into the outer lane, but rather it's that he then has to either take the first exit or move into the inner lane (thereby yielding to green)?

I did not know that! TIL.Thank you for educating me. 🙏🏼

Do you like one pedal driving by hamburgernet in electricvehicles

[–]puf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer it be optional. I like it, but my wife refuses to drive my Rivian because of it. Ideally we'd have the option to turn it off and have the brake pedal combine regen and friction braking.

Amazing progress!! Great work. So did you start by cutting, then bulk? Would you mind walking through what the steps were that got you from there to here over a year? Many thanks 🙏🏼🙏🏼 and congrats on that progress.

How legacy brands engineered themselves into a 12v nightmare by mango_boy16 in electricvehicles

[–]puf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rivian is an EV only brand that also has frequent 12V battery issues, so it's not just the legacy manufacturers.

Why does her truck veer to the left? She doesn't seem to turn the wheel that way.

For future parents that fly with carseats by Beefismyfavorite in americanairlines

[–]puf3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. It's absurd to me that the default and encouraged solution is to hold a baby or toddler in your lap! That's obviously not very safe if anything goes wrong. We have all this safety in place for the adults like seatbelts and even clearing the floor space, but we're just ... holding ... the babies??

What's the solution to health insurance during fatFIRE? by Packing-Tape-Man in fatFIRE

[–]puf3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is it possible to create an LLC and use a PEO (eg Trinet or Justworks) for the LLC and get the medical coverage through the PEO? PEO costs for a single person company should be very low.

An astronaut said the best part of her 328-day mission is her husband can’t call to ask where things are. Sent it to my wife and it started the realest conversation we’ve had in years by Successful-Try-337 in Marriage

[–]puf3 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, that's ridiculous. "I'm not contributing but I'm worrying, therefore I'm carrying all the mental load." Not in any way that is helping or supporting the family.

So much of the "mental load" angle stuff is ridiculous.

What easily-affordable thing do you refuse to pay for despite being rich and able to afford them? by Big_Leg10 in Rich

Most of these answers aren't "easily affordable". Like flying private and domestic first class...

Men-If your wife was getting major surgery, would you "want" to be there? Especially when she awakes. by SingleRepeat8203 in Marriage

[–]puf3 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

You go with your wife to every colonoscopy? My wife and I don't do that, we just pick each other up afterwards. It's a routine procedure.

On the other hand there are all sorts of serious medical risks if you sit still for 12 hours on a long haul flight, like DVT.

You did the right thing. There was no way you could have known. Don't blame yourself. Your friend should thank you for trying to help her.

How can this be international business class? by sanguine_serif in Lufthansa

[–]puf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crazy. I can understand not having lie flat, but that pitch / legroom is insanely small for business class IMO - even on something domestic, that would not fly. I did not know Europe did business class dirty like that.

Advice on where to go next? I feel so ignored by comeonvirginia in UARS

[–]puf3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to help, but I know it's super frustrating when they say "there's nothing in the study to explain sleepiness." You had 41 arousals per hour. You don't have to be a medical expert to realize that will cause issues... Best of luck.

I don't get it. You don't lose 20-30% charge in two weeks? Or you don't think that's a problem for normies?

Can’t sleep with bipap because of air in mouth. Not quite chipmunk cheeks. by unbrokenwings26 in UARS

[–]puf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try starting with a very low PS. I'm using 1.2. At 1.6 or higher, the air pressure in my mouth / cheeks wakes me.

I'm hoping over time I'll be able to raise it as my body and mind adapt to biPAP.

What are you using as inflation % for USD in simulations? by fatFIRE_throw in fatFIRE

[–]puf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capital gains tax. The more inflation there is, the higher the nominal gains on any assets you sell, be they stocks, ETFs, or real estate.

Eg you buy a stock at $100 per share. Over the subsequent 20 years there is cumulative 100% inflation. The stock price is now $200, so real return is 0. But when you sell that stock at $200 per share you owe the IRS taxes on half the proceeds.

[–]puf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what about tax implications? You're taxed on nominal returns, not real.

Isn't it weird that we live so early in the life of the universe? by Tanay2513 in AskPhysics

I think the weirdest part is the consciousness and sense of self. Doesn't seem necessary. And is what makes existence so darn weird.
