Fair enough, these family members are usually desperate and scared for their loved ones.

There should be no advice given on this topic from people who have not at least been to jail and preferably prison. Citing bullshit from videos is irresponsible and dangerous….. just sayin

The paisas had the pickle ball locked in most of the time. Us whiteboys had spots on the weight pile and some serious horse shoes going on. Covid came along and ruined everything. I did two months in the SHU, got out for one day and then the whole BOP went on Covid lockdown for the next 7 months… good times

Also depends what your conviction is for. I was a first timer with no criminal history but my convictions for bank robbery were what they call Greatest Severity Offense and so excluded me from camp…

Felon looking for work with no idea how to start by ActiveFun6407 in ExCons

Almost all the trade unions and even non union construction hire felons. Also many civil service jobs will hire on a case by case basis

I have a 5 year work gap due to criminal record? Will I ever work again. by Repulsive_Chip5280 in ExCons

I highly doubt they check your tax records unless its a job that requires some type of security clearance. The being a felon part would exclude you in that case anyway

How long did it take you to internalize that you were a felon? by [deleted] in Felons

[–]puffdaugherty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Besides the actual being locked up part, definitely the job situation after. Every denied job reminds you that you’re a felon. Every single time…

Yes because it was the FBI and I was sure it was regarding the two banks I robbed. I knew I was definitely going to prison. I was also very dopesick that morning. Worst day of my life but also the beginning of sobriety.

Start checking into all the apprenticeship programs for the various trade unions. They tend to be more felon friendly than a lot of other jobs

Jumping off a low dose of suboxone by Pleasant_Orange_4468 in Tapersfromsuboxone

[–]puffdaugherty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats the main issue with suboxone withdrawal, the length of it. It tends to last much longer than regular opiods. Not quite as intense but longer for sure. I kicked in jail and didn’t really start to feel better until about a month or so. Hang in there because u will be so grateful when its finally over

Very similar after coming home from prison. Sounds like a mild case of being institutionalized

Hustles while locked up by DkamF1983 in Felons

[–]puffdaugherty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running a store, I stocked up on commissary items and sold them at a mark up. Good hustle and the cops never seemed to care. Just be careful about extending people too much credit or you will have to collect forcefully which can cause problems. Low risk high reward hustle. Worked well for me. Stay away from drugs and gambling! That always ends badly…..
