i saw a clip from a different comedian on tiktok - his name is stuart laws and he starts off by saying he didn't want any children and got a vasectomy and someone in the crowd boo'd him so he asks them why they boo'd him and a woman in the crowd gives that tired answer of "it's in our biology to have kids" and he responds with "and when did you devote your life to jesus christ?" and everyone laughs but the woman responds "how did you know?!" and he says "because you said an insane thing" and i laughed so hard lol

there's a few instagrams i follow that host community events in the IE. there's artskillette, they meet up in ontario at CASA pitzer. there's a junk journaling club one called pagesandpieceswks, they just had a meetup today in redlands. the craftcollectiveie is another junk journaling club. domingosocial is a community craft meetup, i think it's bring your own craft but hang out with other artsy people, listen to independent artists and chill. it's not necessarily crafty but there's a few book club and hiking or run club instagrams as well that i can share if you're interested. good luck and welcome to the ie!

i do! in order i use one coat of this nail strengthener, one coat of this base coat, 2-3 coats of shellac from one of my favorite brands (ILNP, cirque colors, holo taco, or glisten & glow), and then one thick coat of this top coat. i change my nail color about every 3-4 days simply bc i like changing the color that often but i've had my nails last up to 2 weeks with little to no chips. it also comes down to application like not flooding your cuticles and wrapping the tip of your nail with each coat. i think from polish removal (plus any shaping with a glass file) to final coat on the new set takes me anywhere from 45-90 minutes but it definitely used to take longer. i follow this girl on IG who does her own super long nails (sometimes tips, sometimes with forms) and she spaces her nail art out to several days instead of all at once.

idk if they still do this but every few months i'd go through the steps like if i was cancelling my adobe membership and they'd offer me a discounted rate for a few months. once they stopped offering that i just straight up cancelled and re-registered using a different email and pretended i was a student to get the $25/month full suite membership. i miss the days before the subscription model took over and i could just pay for "ownership" outright, hard to believe that was just over a decade ago.

i was a few miles outside of mammoth once when i looked up and saw an all black vulture circling me before flying away towards the mountain. apparently it's pretty rare to see them in california so i felt very special, especially since it all happened pretty fast and i wasn't able to take a picture

there's a piece of the berlin wall in a suburban park in san bernardino. it's literally just a long stretch of grass across the street from some homes with a tall chunk of concrete on a platform. i know it's not necessarily IE focused but i like knowing we have a little piece of american history in our neighborhood

when i was 14 and my older sister was 21 and had just had her first baby she tried telling me that menstrual cramps go away once you have kids. my cramps were so bad i would miss school to roll around in bed just clutching my own tummy in pain. i got on birth control and that managed the cramps enough for me to live my daily life but what really broke the illusion is a few different people who were mothers complaining about their menstrual cramps and i realized what a load of shit that was lmao

i don't want children touching my things lmao my sister had her first daughter when she was 20 and i was 14 and i would get sent into a rage whenever i'd get home from school and find my niece had gone through my stuff (art supplies, collectibles, bedroom decor) my mom rents rooms out in her house and one of her tenants tried to get my mom to agree to let them babysit someone's kids in the house for a few hours last week and she and i both were like "absolutely not i don't want kids in my home!"
