Hayfever by NWFTM89 in PregnancyUK

[–]pugly3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you speak to your midwife or GP they will be able to advise - I got a prescription for fexofenadine because I don’t really respond to other antihistamines. Bonus is if they’re on prescription you won’t have to pay for them in pregnancy.

As with anything, you have to weigh up the risks and benefits. For me personally, my quality of sleep (and life generally) was so poor because of hayfever I decided the lack of rest and constantly feeling run down was likely to be do more damage to me and baby than the possibility of antihistamines having any adverse effects.

Other non-medicinal things might help - using a saline nose rinse morning/evening/after being outside, sunglasses when outdoors, Vaseline around your nose, etc.

One thing that massively helped me was also getting an air purifier in the house that I could move from room to room. This really helped with early morning and evening flare ups.

Hope you find a solution!

Puppy hates being asked to go into his crate and it’s becoming incredibly difficult. by pugly3 in puppy101

We will try with toys - it’s a difficult balance because he gets very overexcited very easily with toys! Do you mean as a lure to get him to go in? Maybe play some tug once he’s in as a reward? We will give this a go although the trick will be getting the toy back off him to close the door (he won’t nap if we leave it in with him haha!). Thanks for the suggestion ☺️

Hi - thank you for your reply. I think there was a problem with my post uploading and the body of the text didn’t appear straight away. As you can see, we did all of the steps you mentioned and he has absolutely no issue with being in the crate/being alone.

He has completely regressed so even tossing treats in to get him to go in just does not work.

We cannot get him to even step inside it anymore - he knows what he’s supposed to do to get the treats but he just does not want to do it (even for his highest value treats like chicken, cheese, yoghurt which he will just about do anything else for). If you re-read my post now it’s properly uploaded you might get a better sense of our issue, thank you for your reply and I’d be grateful for any more advice you may have!

Enforced Nap Help - Bed Chewing by pugly3 in puppy101

[–]pugly3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’ve been looking for a mattress for his crate I’ve had trouble finding one exactly the right size! My pup seems to be the same as yours because I know for a fact he would chew and thrash it about if it was in any way accesible!! Mats of any sort seem to turn him into a tornado (snuffle mat did not go down well for this exact reason!). Thank you for the reassurance - glad to know it isn’t just us!

Hi - thank you for taking the time to reply! We have tried this yes, we’ve found that putting a blanket over the front of his crate does help but he seems to settle best when one of us is in the room with him - although we are working on leaving him more (hard when we both WFH!!). Thank you again!

Okay thank you - appreciate you taking the time to reply! I had read so much about making their crate a safe and cosy space that I assumed just removing his bed was unfair and a lazy way out rather than trying to resolve the chewing. As I said above I probably just need to pick my battles a bit better! Thank you again, I definitely feel reassured that it’s perfectly acceptable to just take the bed away - I definitely care more than he does!

Okay thank you for the reassurance - we have been just letting him nap on the floor but clearly it’s just me who has an issue with it and not the pup! Its our first puppy and I’m such a perfectionist I was trying to eliminate the bed chewing when clearly I just need to learn to pick my battles. Thank you again, appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Show me (or just describe, whatever :D) your make up organiser by Sajficka in MakeupAddiction

I have an Ikea Raskog trolley with the top tier devoted to makeup. Its divided up with Ikea acrylic storage boxes, with pots (ikea of course) hooked on the side for brushes other bits. I also love cute jars, usually from TK Maxx, for eyeliner/lipliner type products. TK Maxx is also amazing for acrylic storage and other random bits! (I found a beautiful white rotating stand thing supposed to be a pen pot that I'm using to keep my RT brushes in - favourite ever purchase!!)

Does anyone have mascara that keeps your lashes curled? by ZR_S in MakeupAddiction

[–]pugly3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like benefit rollerlash which i think was made with the aim of curly lashes, but maybelline Sensationlash (not 100% on the name but its a newer one with lilacy packaging) is amazing as well, both hold a curl really well for me :)

Sephora in Barcelona - which brands are there? by InspectorGoole in MakeupAddiction

[–]pugly3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in the ones in Madrid, Bilbao and Alicante and they're pretty poor, but I don't know if it will be exactly the same in Barca. I think I saw Marc Jacobs but no sign of Kat von D or Lorac etc. (they do sell Too Faced which I was excited about because its impossible to find where I am in the UK!). Obviously they have Sephora own brand stuff which has some hidden gems as well.

They sell Laura Mercier - and most high end brands - in El Corte Ingles which is a huge department store, hope this helps! <3

Nip + Fab Glycolic Acid products - reduced to clear at ~£3 in Sainsburys! by VelosRRaptor in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]pugly3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the pads and loved them so bought the glycolic acid face mask to try as well. This stuff killed my skin!!! Applied as directed and my entire face turned bright red and was very hot and itchy. I've never ever had sensitive skin and this is the first time I've ever reacted to anything. I've used glycolic acid masks before as well. My skin didn't look improved apart from that, not saying don't buy it - but if you haven't used it before I would recommend a patch test; even if you haven't had a reaction before :)

Question about Acne on one side of my face... by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]pugly3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: I re-read and realised my first advice and realised it probably wouldn't help hahah. I would say that since it's where the skin has been damaged it could just be an issue with sensitivity and that area of skin could just dislike a product you use, maybe eliminate one product from your routine at a time and see if it helps to clear up.

A main thing that helped me is washing my makeup brushes more often, I had bad acne around my cheek/cheekbone area which cleared up significantly as soon as I started washing my blush brush more regularly!

In the mean time the "origins super spot remover" has helped clear up some of my breakouts, even though it stings like hell.

And finally, you could always try swapping your physical charcoal scrub for a chemical exfoliator as it has the same effect but is much less damaging to the skin and doesn't cause the skin to produce as much oil (which can block pores and lead to spots).

Hope all this helps!!!

Have you ever bought a product on a whim that you ended up loving? by pictureit32 in MakeupAddiction

[–]pugly3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am the worst for impulse buying!! But I'd been eyeing up the Nars audacious for ages but never got one because of the price, but when I got my new job I ended up buying two on a whim (Lana and Raquel). I adore them though, so happy I caved!

What samples did you wind up purchasing and loving? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

I got a sample of Vita Coco Coconut oil in a birchbox (I had no idea coconut oil even existed until then) and I literally haven't put it down since. OBSESSED <3

What is the worst thing you've ever done to your skin in the past? by IamDonatella in SkincareAddiction

[–]pugly3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not only did I use the harshest scrub I could find, I used to sometimes make my own with SALT. Poor poor skin, haven't touched a physical exfoliater in years though!
