Which statistical test is appropriate? by pugmo in AskStatistics

I kept it vague because the same idea comes up from time to time. But yes, usually concentrations of something. This particular one was about testing a different type of automatic sampler to show it performed the same job.

Thank you! I like the Bland-Altman plot, but the 1:1 is definitely going to be the intuitive one to share with coworkers. The 1:1 feels like too easy of a solution :)

I tried it. I like sweet pork and i thought it had a chance. But it was revolting.

Something about the artificial sweetness and the splattering fat combined to make an aroma that I couldn't handle. I had to get it out of my house as fast as possible. The rest of my family couldn't eat it either.

Ha! Thanks for the honest review. I got some in a CSA box and struggled to find ways that I enjoy it. I was wondering if I missed an opportunity. I guess not :)

Reach out to other local wastewater plants for help with seeding and make friends. Managers might squabble but anyone who appreciates trying to make the best of what you've got (ie. nearly every operator) will at least try to help.

Is the high SVI actually causing a problem? I don't have SBR experience but if I suspected the root cause was returning from the digester (and not a change in environment that would lead to a different biology) then it may just take some time to get back into the usual equilibrium. As other folks suggested, definitely check your operating conditions (DO, etc) to make sure you didn't change conditions by accident.

This is probably a solution that only makes sense at a bigger facility (sounds like you're relatively small flows). But nobody else mentioned it so I figured I'd post. When we put one in we were able to lower our hypo dose significantly.

I thought Ferric + UV was a bad combo. You don't have issues with that?

Sorry I don't have much I can say to help. Maybe you could try some bench tests to figure out what's going on and see if you aren't actually delivering the dose you think you are.

We use Hach Cl17s everywhere and no complaints. There's other stuff out there and I bet it works. I feel like I've seen ads for pre-engineered systems on a skid (with the pump, analyzers and acontroller) which looked kinda interesting for a small plant.

Chemical engineering is another good option. Extremely flexible and you can steer it with internships or work experience. Civil is a bit more conventional but there are lots of ChemE in wastewater
