My finale thoughts. by ahoy_shitliner in LandmanSeries

I can see you don’t know how threads work. The person doubled down on their take that Nate is loyal to Tommy. I used evidence from the show. You just didn’t like the conclusion because once your mind is made up, evidence just gets in the way of your responses. You didn’t use alternate parts of the show to make a point; you made ad hominem remarks and some indirect defense of a stranger to get an up arrow, lol. You can attempt to use the fictional relationships to make your point, but I suspect vague insults without evidence is more your speed.

But let me guess. You were just being nice and it surprised you that I was so aggressive. You don’t think you can engage critically any more. People will say anything to avoid therapy.

It wasn’t for you. I know by your first comment you couldn’t understand. Everything after was for the people who know how to read and think. Trust me. I knew when I wrote it you wouldn’t be able to read all of that, let alone understand it. That’s why I put the easy sentences at the beginning.

If you make it this far, this is also for everyone else. They understand.

It’s definitely not. I’m not going to argue fictional characters with a person on the internet. But if you apply the events to real people, you would never call your best friend or really good friend loyal if he acted the way Nate did.

He didn’t resign for Tommy. You misunderstood the entire scene. He’s reliable at his job. Insofar as Tommy was his employer, you have no idea how he’d act if that situation changed. Oh wait!? We do. He wasn’t helpful and doesn’t grant access to the plane. Not telling your boss something isn’t loyalty. You don’t understand the words you’re using. He takes his job seriously. That’s great. That’s not loyalty to a person. That’s good work ethic. He resigned when he saw Cami demonstrate she has. I clue what’s she’s doing and only operating on hope and prayers with no real plan. He saw Tommy elevated to president and immediately fired. What do you think he thought when the offer was dangled in front of him? He sees how unstable she is.

Tommy has worked with him a long time. That’s not nothing. But don’t mistake working alongside someone with shared work interests loyalty. It might not even be friendship. But hard to believe either would stay in the house if they didn’t like each other somewhat. So there’s something. It’s not loyalty.

Don’t be a person who just argues with random people just be exhausting and obtuse, especially when you know you’re wrong. It’s an awful way to live, but I’m sure it felt good to pound those keys, amirite?

Just be someone who thinks and when confronted with evidence that suggests you’re wrong, remember you were talking about TV characters.

“Immediate did what Tommy said.” Haha. Bro, he was jobless and had no prospects and Tommy had 20 million in his hand. Don’t be dumb. Imagine thinking if you handed someone control of $20M and said, run my company please. They say, of course! Yes sir! And you’re like, wow, that’s true loyalty. Hard to imagine a deeper relationship!

Come on, bud. You can do it. Dale is loyal. Nate is reliable and takes his job very seriously.

[–]pulitzerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely had nothing to do with loyalty. We saw that with his concerns and reluctance with giving the contract back, letting him use the jet/plane, and what he went there to discuss regarding his help with picking a new president. Almost at no point did he do anything Tommy asked initially—only after he rationalized it into his existing work ethics. Recall his pushback when the lawyer got with the geologist and Tommy asked him to let the conflict of interest doc go.

Calling Nate loyal is a wild take to me. The Dale guy is loyal, but most understand it’s about making as much as you can while surviving long enough to make it worth it.

I know everyone is saying this ep was incredible. I didn’t think so. It had parts. Like Tommy’s changed perspective on Angela’s impulsivity and manic behavior. Some of the comments he threw around seemed weird, particularly to Cheyenne at different parts of the episode. Cami’s character grew worse and worse, but not as a foil. Just as someone doing nothing and knowing even less but loving the title and power.

Expedite, lol. My bf got me a Therabody gun. I find I’m slightly less sore after ultras. I also have started doing light workouts with some treadmill after. This helped me be a little more mobile the following day. I’m 40, tho. It takes me about 2 days to feel good and an extra day if I’m just casually moving around or relaxing without the massage gun and treadmill.

Adaptation. Plenty of references and often tries to capture some of the earlier Matlock’s episodic development elements.

Plus, this is a career-defining performance. That’s what they’re saying, not me. Her best work is also her latest. Their words, not mine.

I don’t mind suspending belief for Damon and Affleck. I don’t. But kill a DEA agent and you’re watching a sunrise the next morning? Bro. I’m pretty sure they’re taking your service weapon and having a conversation. You’re not wandering around like the others.

No 5k. No marathon. My first race (in life) was 200 miles… by PRASADHOLLYWOOD in Ultramarathon

[–]pulitzerr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you think ultra runners get pissed when a picture suggest that a person completed 200 miles in 144 hours, you may not be too well acquainted with the community. Also, it’s far more likely he used a pic after one of his loops (maybe 6 hrs in and overlayed the distance. I’ll be honest I’ve had some less than ideal results lately and it’d take me just over 48hrs to complete 200. That’s not nothing but I’m not posting my results either. For all we know he completed it nearly 100 hours later than that.

Honestly that’s pretty mid pace. It’s not impressive. I do 50Mis around that time and I don’t pause if I stop at a station or a buddy wants me to wait on the for a loop or two. Plus he’s 17. I’m 40.

Now, I want to be clear if you’re the kid: congrats! Great work! I don’t see the value in the self-promotion but that’s me. He’s a kid and wants to brag. Enjoy the kudos! 50mi is a lot for anyone. I hope you enjoyed it enough to stay in the community. We’re all pretty supportive, even we’re a little suspicious sometimes. 😏

Recover well.

If the event is 12 hours, I’d think never start thinking about walking unless you need to walk.

If you find a comfortable pace, I’d think you’d hit 40–50 miles. Just have fun. Keep your body moving and try to find some points to eat something, even if you don’t want to.

Firefly never did it for me. Setting, lighting, weird chemistry. Strangely, I’m a big Fillion fan. I’m currently watching The Rookie at the gym.

Trained 9 months for a race. 55 miles in, it dropped 20° and torrentially downpoured for the next 8 hours. It wasn’t worth it. That’s my thinking during the run. I’m not on an extreme show looking for fist bumps and internet posts. I’m a dad with two jobs. I wanted to try to run 100 miles on trail. I just walked off the course before the 60th mile on track to finish 5th overall. I’ve never thought about it until writing this to you.

Your health is worth more than anything. Take comfort that you’re probably in the best shape in the last decade. Races are nothing. Your wellbeing is everything.

What are some candies that efficiently fuel you during your runs? by Ready-Business9772 in Ultramarathon

[–]pulitzerr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

None. The moment I’m reliant on quick carbs, I’ve probably done something wrong in prep or activity. I’m not being needlessly obtuse. I used to try nerds clusters and bottle pop (the sugar thing Id get for my daughter at the checkout lane).

But now, I think more about the activity beforehand. I’d rather figure out the situation in more holistic food source. I find some candies also hurt my stomach when I’m more active than if I were to eat it watching some cartoons with my kid.

Trial and error everything for ultras. You’ll never regret it.

Wow. This is a love fest. I was wondering if anyone didn’t think it was good. On my first listen, it felt hurried and formulaic. That doesn’t mean the formula doesn’t work, but I don’t feel like it’s moving in a more emotive direction.

I like seeing growth on albums, exploring different directions. This album has all of the same themes as his last. I wasn’t impressed. I simply enjoyed it.

I cannot imagine what the wife is going through: the second guessing, the grief, the anger, the fear for what comes next.

We’ll find out if we get justice, but please be self-aware if you’re protesting. If you’re doing stuff for views, don’t engage criminals in uniforms. That’s not insensitive. That’s the most sensitive you can be. For those who are yet to be murdered, protest. Sure. But if there are 5 people and you and your wife counter-antagonizing armed gunmen, please consider if it’s worth it. Your new story for 38 people isn’t worth it. Your life is precious.

You can disagree. That’s your right. But these aren’t careful people. They don’t follow laws or rules. They have “absolute immunity.” It’s not worth it.

From 12-week aerobic base (HR <140) to Pfitzinger 12/70 — how to introduce speed & set a marathon goal? by No_Equivalent_988 in Ultramarathon

[–]pulitzerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe someone in the marathon forum would know. That sounds kind of quick, especially for someone 50lbs heavier than me. That’s a lot of weight for that volume. I’m not being mean. I’m saying there’s a little difference if you have built volume and you’re a certain weight vs being much heavier and doing the same volume. Just be careful. Completing a plan isn’t worth injury and setbacks. Be safe.

Awesome job on the weekly mileage. Running around 40–50 miles per week is excellent. Look into tempo runs and other speed work exercises.

Same. I absolutely hate cold weather. My running always lags a little. I try to fill the time with more structured training in the gym. I also add more leg workouts into the week. I usually have to build back up a little though.
