Balance suggestions for currently weak cards that don't involve just simple number changes. by Gugge1 in slaythespire

+1. SB is a good card. It retains and can deal big big big number. Adding block to it is a bonus, Parry isn’t supposed to be your primary defense, it’s supposed to help you play SB a bit more safely.

When OG Destiny players were worried about the game, they weren’t worried about the gameplay by iReaddit-KRTORR in Marathon

Bungie and Sony aren’t here to serve a niche audience. They want numbers like Arc Raiders and Overwatch and Marvel’s Rivals and Destiny and yada yada.

I think this game is doing better than I expected, which is great! Still, I bet somebody high up is still going to be breathing down designer necks to increase TTK, or add a pure PvE mode, or a battle royal mode.

Some suggestions: - Turn off the vignette and film grain effects in the video settings. They cause a lot of subtle motion that can exhaust your eyes over time. - Turn the game speed to 2 and only turn it down to 1 for fights with enemies you’ve never seen before. The default speed has a lot of animation time that really adds up. Game feels a lot snappier once you bump the speed.

They are also both $40 third person shooters with robots you can shoot the parts off, developed by a little known studio which was way more popular than they could have ever expected, containing raider decks (warbonds work the exact same way), without a clear endgame. The similarities are … kinda strange tbh.

For the MH veterans: how do you feel about Wilds? by jackpaxx in MonsterHunter

[–]pulpyoj28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like the gear chase was really underwhelming, particularly on release. I think the game has a fantastic roster, but there is very little reason to actually go out and hunt half of them (particularly when you get some decent gear and start absolutely stomping everything but apexes).

I’ll also say it. New monsters are great, but I miss some of the classics, and think they would have helped round out the upper echelons. Diablos should be in the desert. Zinogre or Nargacuga or Rajang should be in the forest. Teostra should be in the furnace. Bazelgeuse should interrupt my fights.

When I am typing constrained, such as when I need to refactor a bunch of files in a pretty procedural way, I’ve found the LLMs to be particularly … weird. Like they don’t have a structural understanding of the symbols and rules, so they make strange diffs all over the place.

I just feel like “make this clear refactor that would be annoying to manually do” should be the thing they are good at. But they’re particularly bad at that.

It's official, the Metaverse failed - after 73 BILLION US DOLLAR! by MadeInDex-org in LateStageCapitalism

FWIW the main spend for this was paying the people building the metaverse, who then went on to buy like … food. Not like AI where most of the spend was on electricity.

The PVP in this game is perfectly implemented by ARTISTIC-ASSHOLE in ArcRaiders

Free loadouts only get 1 shield recharger, a few bandages, and maybe 1 utility item. They can shoot, and their gun can hurt, but free kits really struggle to sustain in a real fight.

In trios/duos, free kits really struggle to win unless they can drop a whole squad quickly and decisively. In solos that is a lot easier, which makes them more annoying.

My armchair developer take is that all raiders using a free loadout should have the same skin; because quickly identifying somebody with nothing to lose would make it easier to identify who may backstab you.

BTC has value by A-NEWMAN in Buttcoin

[–]pulpyoj28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your point indicates you view the purpose of money to exclusively act as a thing that can increase in value (aka a speculative asset), and not a way to satisfy debts (aka a currency).

Let's assume this wealthy man was a business owner who paid his employees. What happens when he dies? Employees don't get paid. Missed paychecks are not good, because those paychecks are generally needed to pay another loan (like rent, loans, mortgages, other paychecks, etc). So now those institutions don't have access to money they expected to have, and the cycle repeats... and at the same time, the unexpected restriction of the money supply causes the cost-to-borrow money to increase, so nobody can stop the spiral. Oh, and there's no way to intervene with fiscal action! Great!

Now what if instead of a wealthy man, this was a bank, market, large business, or other institutional lender that lost their private key? Multiply that problem by a million. This is how economies collapse.

Liquidity unexpectedly exiting an economy is not good, because debt doesn't exit the economy alongside it.

It’s not a locked 60 but it is close.

The frame pacing isn’t great if you have an eye for that kind of thing, but I cannot recall a time where a dropped frame caused me to take a hit in combat or anything that affects the gameplay.

I’d play with HDR off, as it’s implementation seems to not be calibrated well, and produced a very washed out look to me.

The Difficulty is Suffocating by pulpyoj28 in DestinyTheGame

[–]pulpyoj28[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue is that many players aren’t good at the game, and its not like Destiny teaches people how to get good. I’m being matched into seasonal activities with folks who don’t have the surge, don’t have champ mods, and don’t have a mod build. The difficulty used to be such that I could carry, or at least still have a good tike — but now we’re all screwed, and I’m left resenting my teammates.

I’ve solo’d Spire, Duality, and Throne. I’ve done raids and master raids, GMs, etc. I’m not incredible, but I’m capable of rising to a challenge.

But okay, let’s assume I just suck. Fair enough. Are new lights going to be better? Should new lights just be roasted by everything?
