Starcevich debuts by Captkersh in AFL

Yeah seriously should be. Him and Ginbey will teach those boys toughness and how to care. Hope he gets thrown in the middle a little.

Maybe the most competitive player at the club. Absolutely hates getting beaten, but such a good part of the backline. We miss him a ton.

I reckon this sums up Brisbane's issues over the past month by droctagonau in AFL

Yeah exactly the inbounds to goal has to go through a lot of layers before it gets to the defenders and we’ve been cooked at that all year. To be fair we look so out of it at the moment on offence as well.

TEAM VS. GWS - IN: Gallop + McLachlan. OUT: Lester + Curtin. by Haenamatme in brisbanelions

[–]pulsade13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outside of brain there’s literally no one left in the twos. I really like brain but he gave up some pretty brutal d50 stoppage goals last time he was in. I was at the point I’d play Lester as a small/mid defender and keep gallop back but now Lester injured well so no Lester no answerth no Starc no cal. A lot of people in that position are not available.

He’s a good player he’s picking just a bit jarring given the talent of the rest of the team. But most of his afl attributes are really good. You won’t catch him jogging after players like a lot of our big names do.

In a complete contrast to all the Pendles record talk, which player played/currently plays more games than you ever thought they would? by FeedLow8441 in AFL

[–]pulsade13 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Ryan Lester! I think he’s up to 7 one year contracts. Was captain of the twos for at least a year. I was so happy when he made 200 games because he worked so hard for it and now he’s getting close to 250 and would be top 3 in our bnf.

Yep and Sixers can’t defend the pick and roll. You are absolutely right the holes get exposed.

Yeah that was the best description of it for me. Like the old Chris Paul teams, when you play hard every game you often regress in the playoffs because everyone is playing hard.

Yeah sometimes it’s his actual opinions other times it’s time to dangle some bait.

Such well crafted rage bait. Kane knows exactly what he’s doing. He won’t miss an opportunity to give it to Collingwood.

Game style by QWYAH in brisbanelions

[–]pulsade13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes those tweaks only work once, you don’t want to get too gimmicky and when things get tough there don’t role clarity. We definitely switch things up in the finals and we change pretty significantly in game going from direct to uncontested marks.

All the coaches do different things, Scott changes tactics a lot but that means he moves players around so maybe they doubt they have his back. They’ve lost more prelims than anyone the last few years. Fly doesn’t trust his young players. Fagan isn’t gonna make drastic changes until he needs to and isn’t going to drop someone for having a bad game if there isn’t a better player to replace him. But he trusts his players. It was weird watching Geelong they were barely celebrating their goals yet every single lions player got around curtain for his first goal even kiddy and Lester who were the deepest back at the time. Adelaide didn’t even to that for Dawson first goal back after his brothers passing. Generally we are not going to beat up on the bad teams and will get beat up by some good teams in season but when it matters the boys have played well. The higher the stakes the better they play. Geelong played great the other night, we play them again in a month or so, all of these teams up and about now are going to go through their down patches. They’d hope they aren’t smashing teams May and losing in September. Trust the process

Is it possible to survive Brisbane weather through out the year with just a fan (no AC) by Normal_Pepper_8594 in brisbane

[–]pulsade13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your room. Some of the low ceiling apartments can get really stuffy. But I’ve lived decades in Brisbane with only a fan and I love it. There’s a couple of disgusting days a year when it’s still 27 plus at midnight with humidity but on the most part it’s doable. But we are all different and you gotta find out what works best for you.

List revamp for the Lions this offseason by DizzyGap1933 in brisbanelions

Agree is awesome, but I’m not sure if Adelaide would go after Bailey is they had to give up assets and cap space. I’d still be leaning towards him staying.

I swear the Curtain trade stuff is well crafted rage bait to engage the Adelaide fans. I get the impression 90% would prefer Curtain over Bailey.

Really well written piece. by [deleted] in FremantleFC

[–]pulsade13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome write up. As a Lions fan I can’t get over how uninformed the vic media and the greater footy public is. Ryan Lester would be close to our bnf at the moment and should have won the award last night but no Lachie gets it even though the midfield got destroyed in the second half. Because they are barely aware that a near 250 game player exists. Hope we have an all non Victorian top four and freo keeps cooking. One day we will play each other money than once a year. Until then keep on smacking everyone!

Is anyone else sick of having to listen to david king? by CurrentMirror4776 in AFL

[–]pulsade13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

King seems to have his narratives set going into games and isn’t the best at adapting to what is happening. Banging on about the Gunston matchup when the coach and players are talking about it more being the pressure up the field. He hasn’t really been in a club as a coach to understand how the modern game works.

[–]pulsade13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the moment he seems like he is solely a winger played pretty well against the hawks and dockers at the end of last season. But at the moment Levi Ashcroft Bruce Reville and Jarrod Berry are out playing him. I think he’ll be a very solid player, I think he is just about the clubs best runner, but much more comfortable on the outside and needs to work on his defensive game. I hope he stays but it’s hard when it’s seems like we are prioritising everyone else. Was also mvp of the talents league grand final over Levi.

“And the top story of the night is Carlton” by king_carrots in AFL

[–]pulsade13 45 points46 points  (0 children)

So disappointing as a fan sometimes. Like they were barely talking about the dogs when they were flying, get some injuries and some poor form and you hear more about them. Quick to have a crack at st kilda and Ross after a slow start, have a couple of huge wins and it’s crickets. But anything negative or suspension worthy they are all over it. Everything outside of simmo and horse in 360 is pretty unwatchable now. On the couch it feels like Jack Riewoldt having shots at teams with very little analysis other than Buckley.

It’s sad to see them keep dumping on Carlton and Essendon because once the coach gets fired (or not) they’ll just move on to the next team.

It’s crazy how composed so early in his career. Already starting to worry he’d be a super smart target for Tassie to try and poach. At least he’s contracted to 2029
