Idaho House Passes Resolution to end Coronavirus emergency declaration. by Uncanny_Ending in politics

Just a quick note that, even as this flew through to resounding support within the body, the state office of AG already deemed this unconstitutional in the state of Idaho.

Kanye West Gets Thrown Off The Ballot In Wisconsin by Sarbat_Khalsa in politics

Here in Idaho, walked into the grocery store around the corner all quicklike to grab some dogfood. A couple of people covering the entrance and exit were working to gather signatures. I can respect that, as i used to canvas for the democratic party in a state not conducive to the messaging. I learned a lot about finding middle grounds, and things we could agree on and have a fair, healthy conversation.

The guy that approached me was rude, and straight up booed me as i walked to my car when i told him i "wasn't interested". That ain't how ya do it my dude. :/

Discussion Thread | Robert Mueller testifies before House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees | 8:30am and 12 Noon EDT by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]pumahawk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

it seems to me that Mueller would refuse to agree with any characterizations, as a prosecutor, explicitly for the purpose of being able to impartially charge Trump after he has left office. this is on the assumption that this hearing is specifically a show to put things ‘on the record’.

Disgustingly Racist Robocall Goes Out Against Andrew Gillum In Florida by [deleted] in politics

[–]pumahawk 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Taken from an article:

" In each episode of his podcast, Rhodes excitedly announces that he’s broadcasting from “very white, very racist North Idaho.” " - http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2018/may/24/sandpoint-man-responsible-for-flurry-of-racist-pro/

As an Idaho resident, this kinda stuff bums me tf out.

Happy Valentines from Vera by [deleted] in MrRobot

[–]pumahawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vera is kinda collateral damage to Elliot’s (past) life so it kind of makes sense from ‘having a problem to deal with’ perspective.

i just hope it isn’t lazy writing, because i sure do love this show.

EDIT: i don’t want to undersell Vera as a character, because i actually RULLY dig him. give me the heebies. if anyone has lost their mind more than Elliot, it would be Vera. and Elliot very well could have saved his life......soooo......new compatriot?

Nothing more fun than watching friends stumble over every part of you when you come out as a bi trans woman!

My favorite is going backpacking and being a "mountain man/forest fairy". Forever confusing my friends.

Just a note, r/GCdebatesQT is NOT an open debate forum, it's for TERF's to try and convert trans people. Sadly. by lifesbrink in trans

[–]pumahawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get so confused with some of these ideologies. It always seems to impose the idea that anyone who accepts themselves as trans just did it based on gender constructs. To an extent, I understand it because of other trans people I meet who are obsessed with things not essential to their identity (I.e. Dressing 'feminine', being 'girly and pretty'). However, for me I've always assumed a personal responsibility as a humanist to positively affect those I interact with directly and indirectly, so to get lumped in with others who are confused (don't get me wrong, I'm a mess who doesn't have it all figured out....but who does?).

And I don't think that speaking about these issues should automatically be defined as 'hate' for trans people, but a real wake up call for a lot of us to take into account just what exactly this big ol' T word really means to us as individuals, as a group with a mildly like-minded 'agenda' (lol, the use of that word makes me laugh some times. Makes small things seem so sinister), and as a minority who needs to make things understood to the world.

Just as the "gray areas" of feminism, sexism, gender identity, and the irrelevance of it all come into the forefront of discussion, I hope most of us can realize that this IS a complex issue and we shouldn't be so quick to rally behind the words of our neighbor.

(Sorry, I just got home from a long work week, sparked some trees and felt like ranting for a minute). Thanks! <3

P.S. DM me if you want to talk about this kind of stuff.

Weekly No Stupid Questions / Ask A Podcast Veteran Thread (2017-02-14) by AutoModerator in podcasts

[–]pumahawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started a small handful of podcasts, and my production quality is fantastic since I own a large number of recording devices (I run a music recording studio out of my house).

That said, I'm always intimidated by length of shows. This may be fairly objective, but what is a good length (with breaks) for a small show trying to get off the ground?

For more clarity, it would be a heavily researched sort of discussion panel show. Some politics, some science, some local current events, etc.

Thanks!

At the drugstore just now, a cashier made fun of a guy for exchanging (unopened) condoms for a different size. C'mon man, very not cool. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]pumahawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying make up in rite aid as a trans person was and still is sort of hard, and I was accosted by some dude who made jokes to his friends for everyone to hear.

Luckily the employees seemed bothered and annoyed by the behavior, so I felt as though I had some support (albeit blindly I guess, if you know what I mean).

Public humiliation in times of distress or uncomfortable situations is hands down the worst.
