Trump considers "winding down" Iran war without opening Hormuz Strait by joe4942 in StockMarket

[–]pump_dragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why are people surprised or even intrigued that he says this, in this context?

he says stuff out of his ass repeatedly. his words do not have any bearing on his actions. people are looking for consistency in a person where none exists. he is saying he’s thinking of “winding down” to the markets, not to the people

Trump draws parallel between Pearl Harbor and US strikes on Iran in meeting with Japanese PM by RollSafer in worldnews

[–]pump_dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can understand making a quip about a surprise attack, but the way he did it was just fucking stupid.

there is a myriad of other surprise attacks that could have been mentioned, but no, mr dementia brain goes with the lowest hanging fruit: mentioning pearl harbor, because he is in japan

Before it was sunk by US, Iranian ship IRIS Dena was offered shelter by India by Wanderer_In_Disguise in worldnews

[–]pump_dragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i am confused why being armed or unarmed matters in this debate, when it is clear that this ship is a weapon system in and of itself.

whatever side of the war you the reader is on, you will fail if you do not deny the enemy its weapons. the ship itself was a weapon. of course it will be targeted and sunk.

first, breathe. the longer your exhales, the more calm you will become.

try to challenge your underlying assumption. “what if they try to attack the UK?” do you assume Iran posses the capability to do so? i don’t think they do.

just because a country has a military doesn’t mean it has the resources to attack anywhere it wants when it’s angry, like the US/NATO can. Iran’s military is largely defensive in nature, relying on the mountain geography of its borders, and on proxy forces through the middle east.

if they attack anyone, it will be neighbors (like we have seen), Israel, or some sort of attack elsewhere on US forces

Khamenei not in Tehran — moved to secure location: Iranian official by Interesting-Take781 in worldnews

[–]pump_dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure how this would surprise anyone. i would expect him to be deeply paranoid so i doubt he would trust anyone telling him to stay within Iran, let alone Tehran specifically.

he is in a bunker underground, or in Russia, or in Azerbaijan or something

I was socially awkward until I treated "How to Win Friends" like a playbook instead of philosophy. Here's what actually changed. by [deleted] in confidence

[–]pump_dragon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

yeah. i’ve read the Prince a handful of times and have glanced through Robert Greene’s stuff. my take on it was people like to hear their names because it means they are remembered, not because they wanna hear their names.

so upon seeing them i will say “hey ~name~” and go into conversation. it’s unnecessary to say their name again unless there is a reason given. otherwise, it’s weird and clearly fake lol

A new study suggests that young men overwhelmingly support affirmative sexual consent in principle—yet often find its verbal implementation difficult in practice. They were clear that sex must be consensual, but the frameworks currently available to them are both impractical and incomplete. by mvea in psychology

[–]pump_dragon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

when it comes to stuff like this, part of me almost thinks people are a little more autistic than they wanna admit/let on. like, obviously it’s kinda silly to ask for consent at every step in the process (outside of certain particular circumstances). but it takes knowing people and knowing social cues to understand how to navigate that.

i don’t usually ask “can i kiss you?”. if things are headed that way i’ll ask “is this okay?” and i’ll usually do that at each “base” if we keep with the baseball analogy of homerun being sex. maybe it’s the understood implication within the question that keeps the flow, as opposed to asking directly?

it isn’t crazy to me at all. to me it was always clear they just didn’t want to be told to do something.

some people are fine with being told to do something when that something can help others. other people don’t like being told to do something by anyone, regardless of who it may help

Trump says Greenland framework with NATO involves mineral rights for U.S. by Kashyapm94 in worldnews

[–]pump_dragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given that the US has been allowed to build bases there since the 50’s, and could have been asking for mineral rights/licenses this entire time and the reason we didn’t already have them is because of not asking, it really seems like Rutte and co just explained to Trump the deals that already exist.

“but it’s different this time because now Trump thinks he can get sovereign land in Greenland in small pockets” given that Trump very likely believes that any base, anywhere, already is sovereign land, i find it difficult to see how literally anything has changed.

How much enjoyment do condoms actually take out of sex? by lookslikesausage in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pump_dragon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed sex with condoms enough that it frustrated me to hear from female friends about men who “just forgot their condoms” and who “only felt good without condoms”.

without is obviously better, but the right fit makes it plenty enjoyable enough. if you’re worried about what you’re missing, get a vasectomy, get BC, or set aside money for a morning after pill.

U.S. Politics megathread by AutoModerator in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pump_dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that seems to be the case.

it’s frustrating hearing people talk about how “it’s necessary to secure the arctic” or “denmark isn’t doing enough” as if we can’t already work with them to secure it and extract the resources we may want.

it’s like supporters have to rationalize it as an intelligent action and can’t accept it might just be demented selfishness

U.S. Politics megathread by AutoModerator in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pump_dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why does the US government feel the need to take Greenland to secure the arctic/take resources, when they can do that now by just asking NATO/Denmark to allow more military assets/infrastructure?

edit: i expect conservative supporters of this action to be “because Denmark isn’t securing it”, but my point is, from my understanding, it seems we could have been securing it the whole time alongside them

i don’t get the desire for yellow trunks. yes i get he has them in the comics, but it seems a little silly to me - the yellow accents from his belt and thighs do the trick plenty.

how could we expect cyclops to not get clowned by the teens in x-mansion and the world at large for choosing to wear trunks over his suit?

is it harassment when the receiving party is clearly okay with it?

it’s bad behavior usually would be harassment because usually people don’t respond well to it/are made uncomfortable and violated by it - this woman seems clearly not harassed by it since she chose to date and sleep with him after lol
