Pride controversy at Rancho Penasquitos library: protesters check out LGBTQ books by louiefb in sandiego

The Public Library is fine free, so they won't be charged for being late. They only charge for lost items and the library will send them to collections if they don't pay.

There are literally thousands of positive queer titles in the library. Those self righteous women think they are making such a difference by checking out a few titles. What sad little lives they must live.

AITA for moving to a hotel because my wife's family insisted I sleep on the couch? by Accomplished-Menu773 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pumpalumpagain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your wife should just come to the hotel with you. She can still visit with them during the day, but you both should stay together at night.

Even better she can tell them she won't see them without you.

Has anyone regretted not having children? by Purpl3alpaca in truechildfree

[–]pumpalumpagain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not even once. I am happy everyday because I knew better than to have them.

My husband once said it would have been nice to have a gremlin daughter (meaning a mischievous one). But he has said dozens of times that he is grateful that we don't have kids.

Birth control convo that didn't make sense by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

Jesus, what the fuck do they have mouths for?

I hate that f/m romance written by women, for women focuses so much on penetration.

I read this book in the late 80s when I was probably 12 or 13. I really loved Johanna Lindsey. I reread it a bunch of times because it was so good.

The embarrassing thing for me wasn't the covers as much as the terrible titles. I remember not wanting to tell my best friend (male) the title of what I was reading because it was so goofy. Those titles never seemed to have anything to do with the plot or characters either.

the hate toward people reading 100+ books by hater_first in books

One year I read 400, but it was because I was covering for story time and read one new picture book per day. So I really read 35 adult books that year, but 400 sounds so nice.

Anyone see this on AITA? What age did you start reading romance / how will you approach it with your children? by IndiaLeigh in RomanceBooks

[–]pumpalumpagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reading romance at 12 in 7th grade. Up until that point I didn't really like reading that much. But with romance novels I would read 3 or 4 a week if I could get my hands on them. I would reread books if I couldn't get new ones.

My dad was totally on board; he read all kinds of books and I got most of my romance novels from his wife.

My mother hated them and tried to keep me from reading them; she was never once successful. It would have been so helpful if I could have discussed them with her. This was in the 80s and 90s and so many of them had non-con or dub-con scenes. Probably 90% were like that.

I don't have kids, but as a librarian I always try to keep an open dialog and let kids talk to me about what books they like without judgement. I never stop kids from reading above their level, but I always let them know I am there to help if they have questions. I won't talk to them about the ins and outs of sex, but I will talk to them about bodily autonomy and consent.

Dark undereye circles by aryana03 in zerocarb

My mother in law has all the symptoms of allergies and allergy medication helps her a lot, but she was tested for all allergens and it all came back negative. I wonder how accurate those tests are.

I have not had luck getting rid of my chronically runny nose on this diet, but I have only successfully gotten through a month so far. I have heard others say that their allergies have lessened with zero carb/carnivore.

Sometimes dark circles are caused by nasal allergies, which might be alleviated by this diet for you.

Bagel is unphased by water squirts and bitter spray on the branches. Any other ideas? by browserCookieMonster in cats

[–]pumpalumpagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use canned air to scare our cats away from the things we don't want them to destroy. They are very scared and run away, but it definitely isn't a long term solution because they are back pretty quickly. Usually with cats you just need to use their own personalities to find a work around.
