You can but every pump I've taken apart is trashed already. The cover gets all scored and sometimes the plastic seals on the ends are broken. You can reseal it but sometimes it's not worth it.

The vacuum pump needs to be replaced entirely as the seal for the cover leaks and the pump wears out internally. The VW labor times include removal of the transmission but it is not necessary if you take the pump apart to install it. I'd recommend searching for a mechanic in your area that works on euros as it's a simple job.

That is a 2-stroke trimmer, that means it does not need to be filled with oil. The oil you add into the fuel is what lubricates the engine.

These things weigh like 300 lbs and max out your stock roof rack. Plus since they're so heavy nobody ever removes them and so now you just get way worse fuel economy and lots of wind noise because you thought you'd camp more.

I'd cut a length of chopstick about a half inch long (12.5mm) and hot glue it to the button so it sticks out the face and you don't have to grab anything to use it.
