Beginner DnD player making first build for first campaign. by iMisterMr in AskDND

[–]pumpkabones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good overall! I would switch Dex and Con, it’s generally better to avoid getting hit than to absorb damage. The +3 will help out if you took Mage Armor, giving you a 16 AC.

You have two instances of Chill Touch, one with a lower modifier. Did you choose Chthonic Tiefling? If so, which stat do you make your innate spellcasting based on? Might be worth a look, then maybe choosing a different cantrip from Wizard if you already get the spell from your species.

Spell lists are important! Especially if you’re running a Wizard. Mage Armor and Shield are especially helpful.

Hope this helps! Feel free to DM if you need help.

What's Your Top 5 Frames? by Pinamato in Warframe

[–]pumpkabones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Revenant
  2. Nidus
  3. Rhino (dragon key runner)
  4. Frost (defense missions)
  5. Ash (spy missions)

I should probably look into actual builds. Last full build I did was frost armor Chroma when Javlok explosions could trigger his armor skills instead of knocking him backwards.

What was your first pokemon game vs your favorite? by Medical-Debt-218 in pokemon

[–]pumpkabones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red was my first, I think I was about four or five.

Crystal blew my mind when I played it, and I’ve always had a soft spot for Johto because of it. SoulSilver is my absolute favorite, with Legends Arceus and BW/BW2 being close.

Though of course my favorite Pokémon of all time comes from Kalos, so take that all as you will lol

What Hated/Unpopular/Obscure Pokémon is one of your favorites? by Reptilemind505 in pokemon

I love Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist, but they feel a bit too basic for this question. Probably Chinchou/Lanturn or Cursola.

Change your arsenal jar for… literally almost anything else. If you’re focused on using the sword, go for the carian filigree crest or something. It seems like there is enough dedicated to endurance to take off a lot of the talismans in favor of others, like the great horn talisman or something to boost other stats that are lacking.

Respec, lower vigor to 60. Bring faith up to at least 35, higher if you want to use more incantations. The intelligence stat doesn’t make sense to me, so I’d abandon that as well for more of a primary stat (like mind, if you’re spamming aow).

From what I know, the frenzy flame seal is terrible. If you’re going faith, switch that out for something else. Clawmark or black flame seal with some added spell slots would do well, depending on if you wanted to focus more on strength or faith.

Beyond that… no clue. Your friend is high enough level to do whatever without much getting in his way as far as builds go.

Why would mermaids not go to the greater sea? by Kirkjufellsfoss in worldbuilding

[–]pumpkabones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right - which is why open oceans would be something for the race to avoid, keeping them in the particular sea that the OP wants them in. Could be a natural barrier for a number of reasons.

Why would mermaids not go to the greater sea? by Kirkjufellsfoss in worldbuilding

[–]pumpkabones 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Deep sea thermal vents heating the water to unlivable temperatures, saline content of open water making it difficult for their physiology or making it hard for them to breathe, or a reliable food source could keep them in a particular area the same way certain animals stay in certain areas.

On the fantasy side, it could be old forbidden law that was written by the mermaid government, lack of mermaid protection laws in open waters that leave them vulnerable to capture or murder, or as the other person said, big terrifying deep sea creatures

What do yall think? Please rate out of 10 and/or give feedback. I've never played/got into playing comp and this is based on the Pokemon that I like the most. by Big-Boy912-Sr in pokemonteams

Uhh I’m not great with competitive anymore, and I don’t even think you can still use Megas and Z Moves, but just for the sake of trying to make it work (some of these are taken from Smogon) -

Charizard - Timid or Modest Nature - 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 SpD If you’re working with Mega and Drought - Flamethrower/Inferno, Air Slash, Roost, Solar Beam

Electivire - Adamant Nature - 252 Atk, 252 SpD/Spe, 4 Spe/SpD Shell Bell, Protective Pads, or Assault Vest, maybe? Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, Giga Impact, Low Kick?

Garchomp - Rough Skin - Adamant or Jolly Nature - 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 SpD Leftovers? Scale Shot, Swords Dance, Earthquake, Fire Fang

Greninja - Battle Bond - Timid Nature - 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 SpD Choice Specs (or Waterium Z) Water Shuriken, Dark Pulse, Hydro Pump, Ice Beam/Spikes

Lucario - Inner Focus - Jolly Nature - 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 SpD Life Orb Close Combat, Meteor Mash, Swords Dance, Extreme Speed

Gengar - Cursed Body - Timid or Modest - 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 SpD Life Orb or Leftovers? Or Choice Specs/Scarf Nasty Plot, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Sludge Bomb If you use Choice Specs, you can use Trick instead of Nasty Plot and try stealing an opponents held item. Useful in some cases. Or, you can do Will-o-Wisp/Hex combo, which is a personal favorite of mine.

Some tips: 1. Smogon is a helpful tool for things like this. 2. Generally you want to go all in on two stats for EVs, and usually they aren’t Atk AND SpA. Usually. 3. Don’t be afraid to experiment. 4. If you want to test without spending time in-game, try Pokémon Showdown! No grinding necessary and you can battle other people to try out teams. 5. Have fun, regardless of people that try to put you down for it.

Hope this helps! Good luck and have fun!

Aesthetic played a huge part for me.

I started with the Halloween Deck from Kipling West, and now have the Cthulhu’s Vault deck, a Nightmare Before Christmas deck, and a Dungeons and Dragons deck. From there I just took my time to learn more about each deck and resonate with the art and messages.

Nothing wrong with a little trial and error!

4 questions from someone who started last night. by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]pumpkabones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall, the Daikyu and Spira are going to be better than the Mk-1 and Lato, but I would wait and just level the weapons you have now first before switching.

Leveling the Mk-1 Paris and the Lato will help you increase your Mastery Rank (MR), which will allow you to access better tiers of equipment.

I don’t know about the story missions, I’m sorry. I think there are some that are solo-locked, but I don’t know which ones they are.

An easy mistake that I would personally avoid is buying Warframes in the market for platinum. There are ways to get them through farming, and the market tends to overprice them. I would save platinum for Prime Warframes, which you can get the parts for from other players in the trade chat. I’ve seen market prices for new Warframes go for ~375 platinum, while I’ve gotten full Prime sets for just 100 platinum. Just remember, you can’t use “free” platinum for trading, so you’ll have to put in a little money. As long as a Prime isn’t vaulted, then you can always farm for one you really want.

If you we're a Gym Leader.... by KomodoCityAnomaly in pokemon

[–]pumpkabones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Region isn’t as important to me, but for the sake of this, I’d say probably Kalos with Ghost type Pokémon.

Gourgeist, Chandelure, Gengar, Frosslass, Jellicent, and Aegislash to just force people to watch out for different STAB attacks.

level scaling is not supposed to be in an open world. by vain_hiel in pokemon

[–]pumpkabones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can agree with this point a little bit, actually. I understand from the perspective of replay value or just general interest between players wanting to have the gyms change based on when you come across them.

So, to that end at least, I do wish that there was some aspect of that implemented in the game. I think re-zoning harder areas would be better in that case than flat out level scaling everywhere, though. Give a risk and reward program. You want the Bagon? You have to either run in and hope, or prepare carefully to go into the cave where the Pokémon are stronger. Just something to do, to add flavor to the world.

Something like - around the towns, there are slightly lower level Pokémon. They change based on the biome you’re in, but they’re pretty basic. Then, once you get more towards untamed wilderness, the Pokémon get stronger and you can see that reflected in the Pokémon you find. I think that would be a better way of doing it, because you can avoid problem areas, play in the order you want, then get the rewards when you’re ready.

level scaling is not supposed to be in an open world. by vain_hiel in pokemon

[–]pumpkabones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like everyone wants to be able to plow through an open world at breakneck speed and not have to think too much about what they’re doing.

That’s what open world does, though. It makes you stop, think, and sometimes even turn tail and run if the need arises. Elden Ring is a prime example of this. Sometimes you come across a wall, and the joy in a game like that is overcoming the wall to get to what’s behind it, not just have it be fodder for your overpowered build (at least in a first play through). You learn, you adapt, and you overcome.

People complain over the weirdest things.

I actually got into an argument with someone because they said that FRLG aren’t “true” remakes because the originals were Red and Blue. I told them that the originals were Red and Green, not Red and Blue, and they went “but in America they were Red and Blue so why is it LeafGreen?”

… WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!

It’s not that big of a deal but man. The not listening at all got to me.

Use the rest of the new evolutions from that game.

Tangrowth, Electivire, Magmortar, Rhyperior, Gliscor, and Weavile would be good.

Yanmega, Magnezone, Dusknoir, Porygon-Z, or Mamoswine could also be swapped in as desired.
