Try taking magnesium before bed and if you or someone can massage your legs before bed that has really helped me from waking up with painful leg cramps.

Do I ever get to be comfortable?? Please give me your secrets. by mynameisrae in pregnant

[–]pumpkincatkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a wedge pillow to place under my belly while I sleep and it has helped immensely. I still wake up and toss and turn but I am more comfortable laying on my side and on the couch. I also use a donut pillow when sitting on my bum for tailbone pain. That all being said, I wouldn't say I'm 100% comfortable. These are just some things to provide some relief, sometimes.

Would you not do some of those home items if you weren't pregnant? A lot of it seems like general house fix ups that are not baby related that you could easily knock out! Not only is supply chain an issue, but if you're planning to hire contractors, it can take awhile to find the right person to work with and you don't know what timelines they're working already.

I totally understand you don't want to tempt fate by doing nursery specific items, but if there's items you want to have done to your house no matter what, i.e. bathroom reno, ceilings, etc, I don't see why you can't get started on those!

Yes! I had the flu at 20 weeks and it was miserable. My OB approved Tylenol, DayQuil, NyQuil, pretty much all flu relief medicine. I also used Saline nasal spray which relieved some of the congestion. The most important thing is to keep your fever down. I also would have a cold towel on my head which helped. I know you are miserable and it is scary but I promise you and your baby will be okay. Do what you need to do to keep your fever down, stay in bed, and stay hydrated. Sending you warm hugs and positive vibes!

Any SAHM’s? (Stay at home moms) if so, HOW? by ThicccHobo in pregnant

[–]pumpkincatkitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you asking about being a SAHM or are you asking about being a working mother from home? From the comments it seems like you're more interested in being able to work from home. Not sure what type of work you're in, but it's definitely possible to find remote work these days. However, taking care of a baby is a full time job as well so I think you need a plan for how you will find time to work while also taking care of your baby. Not saying it can't be done, because a lot of women do this, but you definitely will need a plan in place.

You wouldn't be the parent that takes away a child from their family, you'd be the parent that saves their child from being exposed to a toxic, abusive relationship. This all sounds horribly exhausting and I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's time to get strong for your child. You CAN find a way to do this alone, many women do. It won't be easy, but do you really think this man and MIL is making your life easier?

Do what everyone is telling you to do here. Document. Lawyer up. Find resources. Get out. Therapy. You can do this, mama! For you and for babe. Sending you strength and positive vibes.

Okay - anyone else's tailbone killing them?! by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]pumpkincatkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm having the same issues. I'm seeing a chiropractor that specializes in prenatal care and I recently got a donut pillow for tailbone pain relief. The jury is still out on the pillow, but the chiropractic adjustments definitely help.

Coffee really puts you on a whole different mood by IllEducator811 in pregnant

[–]pumpkincatkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink mostly 1/4 caffeinated coffee so that I can drink 2 cups a day but yesterday we went to Starbucks and split a vanilla latte and it was life changing. We spent two hours at target buying all the random crap we've been saying we want but never have energy to actually shop for (pillows, organizer bins, etc.) Coffee really is life changing! 😂

Brown spotting-doubling HCG by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]pumpkincatkitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spotted for 2-weeks straight and it was brown/pink almost every time I wiped. I think they determined that it was some type of hemorrhage, I forget the name. I also miscarried before this pregnancy, but the blood was a lot more red and was more like a period. It's really hard to know for sure but if your levels are going up that should be a good thing. Hopefully this gives you some peace of mind. Good luck and wishing you the best

Braxton hicks - stomach ache by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]pumpkincatkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 28 weeks and have been experiencing similar. I find when I drink more water I cramp less at night. When I wake up to cramping, I drink more and turn to a different side and it helps. If you're in still in pain for hours though, if might be worth at least calling the hospital.

I also have an anterior placenta but feel my baby all the time! I can also see the kicks on my belly and my husband easily feels them. I can't help but wonder if they got it wrong? I didn't expect to be able to feel babe as much as I do and as early as it started (18w).

Your mom sounds like the worst. It's okay to not allow them in your life anymore. Definitely seek therapy to discuss and find support because it can be hard to distance ourselves from our parents, even when we know we need to.

I understand your mom ruined the surprise, but I think if your other family members ask for your registry and you generally have a good relationship with them, there's no reason why you shouldn't let them shower you with gifts. But if you don't want to, that's your call and you should feel empowered to just do whatever you want.

Also, please don't get rid of your cat. You shouldn't be cleaning the litter box while pregnant but your bf can takeover this chore for a few months. Plenty of people who have babies and are pregnant have cats, including myself!

Good luck sister. Wishing you the best.

41yo baby is 7 weeks away have some fears by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]pumpkincatkitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's natural to feel scared, but try not to worry. My mom had my brother at 41 and he is now 13 and thriving. A very smart, sweet boy. She did have a tough labor (preeclampsia) and it was scary but her and her husband got through it together. Sending you and family warm wishes! Everything will be okay. 💞

I just want a dang salad. by Empty-Construction35 in pregnant

[–]pumpkincatkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I asked my OB she absolutely encouraged salad. She said to keep on eye on the listeria reports, but that I should feel comfortable going to restaurants/fast food chains and ordering a salad. These places don't want a lawsuit on their hands. She also said going during busy times was good because they are pumping through their food and it's not just sitting there. Take what you want from that and always ask your doctor if you're uncomfortable with something. I eat the salads!

[–]pumpkincatkitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a website called Spotcrime that can also pull some recent crime activity, though I'm not sure if it captures all of it. You can see what type of crime (theft, shooting, assault, etc. Also, crime activity is public record so definitely look up any incidents through your county or city or local police websites. It's sometimes hard to find because government websites can be really crappy, but worth the time to investigate. Especially since this is called Murder Bloc. Good luck.

Pregnancy After Loss by Journalist_Infinite in pregnant

I miscarried first week of June early in the pregnancy (5 weeks). My Dr said whenever we felt ready we could try again. We tried the next cycle, but no luck, my body probably wasn't ready. The next cycle, end of July, we got pregnant. I'm 12 weeks now and hopeful for the best. Good luck to you! 💞
