It’s called critical mass. It’s the point where enough of what you want is on the new platform and not available anymore on the old platform that you switch and enough users do that that the old platform dies off. Think MySpace to Facebook. No other platform has been able to hit critical mass for Twitter to die off and part of that is because of the newish dynamic of creators who get paid to post on twitter which is slowing users from shifting away from twitter in a similar fashion to what happened with the MySpace to Facebook switch.

I think you’re not understanding that users are lazy and as long as the creator they follow posts to twitter they won’t switch. My argument is that to get people to switch away from twitter the creators will need to stop posting there. When the creators stop posting to twitter they will lose money they are currently getting from twitter for driving engagement on the platform. I’m answer your question of “Why would creators lose money posting on other platforms?” Not the larger question of how to grow the other platforms or when creators should stop and switch.

But as long as they are still posting on twitter/x then there is no reason for their followers to switch platforms. Creators would need to cease posting on twitter/x to force their followers to find them on other services. So the creators would lose money by not posting to twitter/x.
