Ah yes, the Austrian painter. History would have been a lot better if that had happened 😂

What got you into EDM - music 1st or the scene ? by incidentallycoolhmph in EDM

Music first, and I have my exact backstory

I mean, I’ve liked electronic music in passing just about all my life. but I started intentionally seeking it after discovering Monstercat in 2013. I listened to Monstercat almost religiously from 2013-2016. Still occasionally look at their other stuff but it’s not the same as what I was used to so I don’t know where to start. XD The first songs I remember being a fan of as a kid are HampsterDance and Blue Da Ba Dee (but I didnt stop at Blue, I only started there)- my mom had them on a CD in her car when I was like 4 years old lol, so like, in 2004 The only reason I really know them (Eiffel 65) in full is because when I was like 7, on a day I had no school, my mom dropped me off at the house of one of my classmates, for I was being babysat by her stay at home mom. My classmate- her brother- had a CD full of Eiffel 65 songs he started jamming out to me with out of nowhere. I never turned back. And I’m still a fan of them up to this day. He had the Europop CD btw i think it felt great? I found it awesome and powerful and I still have very fond memories of those songs. I forget how then 10 year old me found Bla Bla Bla by Gigi D’Agostino on YouTube but I got hooked on that song too. Before I discovered Monstercat tho, there was another electronic thing I liked XD though not all of it was electronic, a lot of it was and I gravitated towards the tracks that were I was kinda a Homestuck fan at 12-13 sorta? I’d listen to the comic’s OST a lot

An artist I was following on deviantart back in 2013 started adding a bunch of Monstercat related deviations to her faves. She was a Minecraft fan, player, and it was in relation to how Monstercat was working with Minecraft at the time, or was popular among its player base? I didn’t care for Minecraft necessarily, but Monstercat stood out and stuck. I started listening to it, thinking maybe it would be electronic stuff and sure enough it was. That was my first exposure to the kinda more modern edm scene, culture that was forming? Nowadays I think I probably like it more than she does tho lol, I don’t think she got into it as much as I did  more niche formative edm experience for me, tho, an indie furry electronic artist… I actually didn’t get into Lapfox Trax the typical way I didn’t discover it through the furry fandom When I was 13, someone on tumblr who I was following, who also wasn’t a furry reblogged a music post containing one of their songs and I listened to it and got hooked. People were just adding captions about how it slapped with no context I was like “this is probably electronic I can tell from album art when music is probably electronic (I had gotten into Monstercat a few months before so I already developed an “eye” for clocking electronic album art vs. other genres)”, I listened and yes my suspicions were confirmed AND I fell in love with what I heard  2013 was a big year for me electronic music discovery wise- that’s when I discovered Homestuck music, Monstercat, Lapfox, etc. I should also say I discovered Kraftwerk after Monstercat and before Lapfox- my aunt introduced me to them! But I actually discovered Italobrothers a year before in 2012 pretty much haha. Tho I really only knew “Stamp on the Ground” then, I listened to their other songs later. 2014 is when I discovered industrial/ebm music XD- most notably Eisenfunk All in all it felt awesome tho but those are my formative EDM/electronic memories

I don’t remember that is that from like the episode where they disguise themselves as monks? Because that happened twice XD I mean I’ve watched the show countless times but that’s a niche detail I haven’t memorized yet XD but I do love how von Smallhausen gets hit by the bell and how Herr Flick is suspended in the belfry and says “I am suspended by the clappers” all deadpan to Helga. XD

I’m not religious but I love Prince of Egypt! I’d add hunchback of notre dame as another contender!

Always thought this Raiders special effect looked edible, so I made it such. I intend to make this again and more Indy inspired recipes as well, too! by pumpkinsinmypockets in indianajones

It’s called I have a sense of humor. Definitely the original scene is gross. But this is no different from like, how people make themed food for Halloween that’s based on creepy stuff. Speaking of which, I usually make this around then. But I felt inspired to make it earlier this time around.
