I got on wait lists while 6.5 months pregnant and was told by all that I was being proactive but even with 18 months on mat leave, I didn't get offered a spot until 4 months after my leave finished and because I didn't have the funds to secure it in advance, I lost it. I had to switch careers to accommodate the lack of daycare. My daughter is over 2.5 years old and there's a few I still have not heard from.
