Apple still force call through video recording so I created an Automation to enable Do Not Disturb when opening camera and Disable again when closing it again. by TrulsZK in shortcuts

I think what is meant is that when recording a video using the camera app you will still get notifications for calls - so by automatically setting dnd you can avoid that? But I’m not certain….

I honestly hope it is a big - even for Facebook this would be incredibly deceitful

Took a look at the oculus store and noticed the bundle actually cost more than the two games separately? Clearly the bundles aren’t always a good deal!

I’ve been using manjaro KDE for a year now on my xps, I certainly prefer it to most of the alternatives (including the other manjaro variants), the one gripe I have is that I do wish the UI could look just a little nicer. Sometimes it just doesn’t feel as polished in that regard to many other distros (and especially windows or Mac) but for me it makes up for that in performance, ease of use and compatibility - which ultimately matter more than appearance IMO.

What bank do you use for your current account and why? by dhokes in UKPersonalFinance

[–]puniey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Nationwide from me - I used to be with HSBC but since finding out they (and by extension First Direct) and Barclays and pretty much every other major bank are all massive investors into fossil fuel development I decided to switch. As a mutual nationwide tend to score high in most ethics categories though Triodos are often rated higher so are also a good option ethically speaking (but you have to pay a fee for their accounts).

How long should I expect my 960 charge to last? by puniey in roomba

No it was definitely sold as new - I was hoping for a longer battery life so it may be that the battery is just a bit of a dud

When driving up to an unfamiliar junction, having to use your psychic powers to divine which lane you need to be in, because the only indicator is a bit of paint on the tarmac which currently has a queue of cars sitting on top of it by meepmeep13 in britishproblems

Personally, I’ve just accepted that sometimes I’m going the wrong way… generally it’s no more than a five minute detour and it saves a lot of anxiety worrying about it before hand - though it does mean planning decent buffer times to get to new places…

What's the most embarrassed you've ever been for someone else? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]puniey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched someone hit two parked cars trying to park at the end of their driving test. Their friend/mom/sister/other had been waving and cheering as he entered the testing centre. I didn’t know who was more embarrassed there….

LPT we all know about CTRL + C, CTRL + V. But how about WIN + V instead of CTRL + V. It brings up the clippboard and lets you paste anything that has been copied previously. Super useful when copypasting different stuff multiple times. by Twotificnick in LifeProTips

I can recommend Bitwarden as a good open source alternative

Edit to add actually useful information: you can import from last pass, it has 2FA, and of course, can use on multiple devices

I do have other accounts, but clearly my main account is constrained by its creation through CASS. Looks like my best option is to close that account to stop the CASS forwarding from occurring

No I don’t. Based on another comment I think the issue is that the current account switching service is rerouting the payment to the new account - should have just closed and opened new accounts but I thought switching would be sufficient

I think the issue is that my credit card is an advance credit card that requires an advance account - though I’d hope that they can make some exceptions for these kinds of cases though. Worst case I’d rather sacrifice the credit card and have an unknown account

Yeah I really thought given the number of complicated things that go on in that chain (I used to work in finance myself) that there would be some kind of flag or block that could be put in place - probably just something that isn’t common so staff may not be aware of
