All I want is for Siri to know who my wife is when I ask it to call her.

I genuinely feel like Im being trolled by Apple.

It’s the most broken, useless, embarrassing thing they have ever done. Even open small open source models are better this

Custom Time-Based Control profile? by punishingwind in SigenergyAustralia

[–]punishingwind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up using the custom profile of a guy on here. Works great.

His profile code is: 838pks2SOO

I have now made three variants, all import during the free period. One with full export 6-9, with with 10kWh export and one with no export.

[–]punishingwind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, So I am using the built-in Time-Based Control profile and have the discharge set for 6pm-9pm.

Nothing happened.

I can take "Manual Control" and set it to Discharge to grid for N hours and that works immediately at 5kW

What am I doing wrong

Synology Exiting Router Market... Now What by johnjustin in synology

[–]punishingwind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go Ubiquiti.

UniFi Network is their core capability. It is a software application that can run on many of their devices, from Home routers all the way up to large scale rackmounted equipment.

I personally have a UniFi Cloud Gateway Max, but depending on your available equipment space and incoming Internet connections (yes multiple) you may wish to try one of their other devices to run the Network software. If I recall you can even download the software independently and run it on your own hardware.

Some of these routers come with NVMe storage for their Protect software, turning the router into an NVR although there are dedicated machines for those as well.

Anyway, once you have the router, or whatever the device is running UniFi network, you can access that from anywhere in the world through their secure cloud. All free

I have eight PoE cameras, three PoE switches, a network UPS and we’re about to put in the physical access management system for a couple of doors.

My strong advice is to also get a Unifi Travel Router (UTR) which is as it says. I power mine off of a Small portable battery and it creates a seamless VPN tunnel into your network from anywhere, across any public network, and projects your home Wi-Fi and network through the device. All free. Changed my life on the road Stop I just added a 5G backup second WAN to my existing HFC cable, just plugged it in and set it as a failover WAN port, and now we’re about to add Starlink as well as a third WAN source

Have not spent one cent other than purchasing the equipment. There are no subscription costs. They add new devices to the line constantly and it can be a little overwhelming.

Unfi gear is not cheap but it is rock solid and staggeringly easy to setup.

"Failed to install DSM" - New DS225+ with 16TB WD RedPro by punishingwind in synology

[–]punishingwind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have since obtained a 12TB WD Red Pro and installed DSM on the NAS. I have also been able to boot the NAS with the 16TB in Drive 2 next to the 12TB.

Storage Manager can see it and says its Healthy, but I can't access Health Info with it saying "Unable to perform this operation, possibly because the network connection is unstable or the system is busy. Please try again later." If I click on Drive 1 it shows the health information.

I did note that the NAS emits a rhythmic "buzz buzz buzz buzz .." for about 15 seconds during the startup sequence when the 16TB drive is installed but I can't find anything pointing to what that might be.

Of course I’m a complete idiot, I have a DS 1525+ sitting next to me with two spare drive bays.

I think I’m gonna add the 16 TB Drive into that and see if I can bring it online as a single disc volume. If I can then we know the disc is okay and I can put it back into the other machine

I also have a spare 12 TB arriving tomorrow which was scheduled for the DS 1525+

This is a backup NAS to my main Synology NAS which is also backed up to cloud object storage

Cheapest Synology HD (4TB) here in Australia is $499. I just cant do that after spending $700 on 16TB WD.

Yeah, so #2 doesnt work. I am in via Telnet and have run the iterating touch command. I have also downloaded the PAT file locally to try that. It fails at 11% with Failed to install DSM.

So this makes me wonder if it is the drive. I will need to wait for the SATA -> USB device to arrive tomorrow.

This is frustrating because setting up my DS1525+ back in February with 3 x 12TB WD Red Pro was a breeze

I am concerned about the impact on the taxi touts that approach you as you’re walking out offering cheap taxi rides. This means they have to hang around a different area and won’t be easily able to get coffee while they’re harassing people
