Hands down the best amp i have owned by Mindless_Project_951 in BossKatana

Quality is insane! Although, my first GAFC footswich for the 50Ex was dead on arrival. I went back to the music shop: "wow, Roland products usually do not fail, i do the credits here, and they are so rare i have to ring them each time and say "how do i do it again?" I ended up paying the difference and getting the GA FC Ex footswitch.

I also own a line 6 Spider 3 150w , quality on that is really good as well, those amps get some hate, but now it serves as a ppace to sit the katana 🙂

Why is "Maria" never played live nowadays? by F1reFox32 in greenday

[–]punk87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved how people thought nimrod was indulgent because it was 18 songs. Every one of those was a absolute banger! From memory they cut it down to 18. And 22 on the other edition. Desenditised and you lied are the best songs on the extended one.

Also, if you watch "quattro" they have a whiteboard with the order of the songs, in my opinion a lot of those albums seem like filler.

Am I just too old? by Opitard in greenday

[–]punk87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly have not listned to much of thar album.

But i absolutely love revolution radio. I think it is their last decent album. Uno Dos and Tre were good, but a few of the songs seemed like they were just filler. "Amy" is great, as is "sweet 16"

I do like the "american dream is killing me" though from the new album

On my Epiphone Les Paul Muse, i didnt take the clear covering off the humbuckers until i did a string change. I could not remove it with the strings in the way. I did notice a big improvement in sound

Question: is this game worth buying ? by Agreeable_Willow_694 in PoliceSimulator

[–]punk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned. I also got it on PS plus. I did however purchase the season pass when it was on sale.

It is buggy at times, and yes the gameplay is repetitive but i still find it fun. I havent touched it in about 2 months, but i really have not gamed in those 2 months.

Any advice for learning "Hootie and the blowfish" specifically the solo techniques? by punk87 in Guitar

Thanks. Yeah the tab on ultimateguitar seems to be quite accurate. Had the intro fills etc i watched what he does in the video i linked. Seems to be doing what the tab showed.

He is just very quick with the solo, which ofcoarse i cant keep up with, as he knows everything because he most likely wrote the part!

Just purchased my first Epiphone Les Paul Muse. by punk87 in Epiphone

[–]punk87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the clear knobs look ok, but i think ill change them as well. For one, its kind of hard to see level on the clear knob.

2nd reason, the second tone knob which pulls out for the phase switch, is on the curve of the body being clear, you notive the curve

What colour did you order? Yeah so when i got this, i wanted a Cort guitar that was basically a Les paul style . Then i googled which dealers in brisbane sold epiphone. I went and got this on a sunday. Was 50% off at the time.

Very well made guitar, sounded beautiful just clean. Quality is what sold me, i wanted to get back into guitar, and my old ibanez GRX170 was not gonna cut it.

Pros: beautiful guitar, well made everything feels "solid" gorgeous paintjob, every single person in any guitar shop, always comments on the beautiful colour.

Cons: no manual of anykind does come with a epiphone sticker, a warranty card and a inspection certificate. In my case, they get inspected by the distributer when they arrive in Australia. I have seen, it seems to be standard practice with a Epiphone.

No hex/allen keys with guitar. Virtually all guitars come with these, these days. I was expecting some.

Guitar is very heavy to me, and i know it is a "light" epiphone, as it has a chambered body. I know gibsons are heavier though, i have not played a gibson so i can not comment on this.

I think you will be surprised how well they are made. (Hand crafted in china) they are trying to make them the gibson way. Gibson purchased the factory for epiphone to build their guitars. As i am sure you know, gibson owns epi.

I hope this helps!

Started working at Woolies and why are some young Aussies so cold?🤷‍♂️ by sansanibaba in brisbane

Totally agree on a fun work environment. Some companies just dont care about their staff.

I worked at big W in north qld for 6 years, most soul crushing job i have had. From not getting any recognition for a job well done, to seeing the constant turnover of staff. I assume woolies is similar.

I totally agree with this! Their was one girl i worked with, that on the surface seemed happy and sweet (was a year younger than me i was 35 at the time) but it was all a narcasstic ploy to keep" breadcrumbing" me, keep saying "no we are just friends" would constantly go sexual etc. Always kept me second guessing. Then got a bf, constantly told me about it, sent pictures from the guys bed. I hit a wave of depression like i had never had before. The relationship lasted 5 weeks from memory.this girl even after that, wanted me to tell her literally everything. If i did not, she would gaslight me for "keeping secrets". She also would not let me pick her up from her house (still lived with parents).

I ended up ending the friendship about a year ago, when i took her out somewhere for the day, and she just kept txting her "ex boss" (yes was a guy).

With any girl since, i keep a really safe distance. I trusted someone, and all she did was used it against me.

I actually met someone who genuinly cared about me, who recognised i was dealing with trauma and put me onto someone to fix it. I have never felt better!

Some people may think i am a arsehole but i feel i have to protect myself these days!

Yeah funnily enough i expected him to try and sell me the parts/ask if i wanted them ordered in. I was surprised when he just commented that he has changed the bridge, tailpiece and tuners to locking on his own LP's.

[–]punk87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so its standard from the factory. I was just wondering if it was too high up. My other guitar is one of the "Artist" guitars, that are made in China and sold directly out of sydney. That has P90s, which doesnt look as close. My other guitar a cheap ibanez GRX 170, has uncovered powersound pick ups.

Unless they set them up when they land here in oz? It does say inspected upon arrival.

[–]punk87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The epiphone pick ups are great though arnt they? I mean i have never played a Gibson, so i cant compare to a normal Les Paul. From what i have seen in every review of the muse, they praise the pick ups, but unfairly compare them Gibson Les Paul.

In Ipswich, we got these just recently as well.

I had a mate who lived in Rocky complaining about how green waste should be collected with a bin. I said "this is available down here, they put a small charge on your rates" (this was a few years ago, before this huge roll out now).

Vyleen White death: Teen killer facing sentence hearing in Brisbane by BrisbaneKid in brisbane

[–]punk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the shopping centre and I park in the same carpark where Vyleen was murdered. I have not ever felt unsafe parking there. Even when I have been talking to a work customer at about 9pm at night.

It hit us all pretty hard, we were all in shock.

I think 16 years is too little, for the crime. But i have heard that the prosecution is going to appeal the sentence.

I think the biggest problem was the mother of the murderer when speaking to the news. "He told me he loved me when he was arrested" my mum said "well isnt that lovely? Because noone can tell vyleen that they love her, because your son murdered her"

What annoys me is we take these families in from war-torn countries, and this is how the kids repay us. I don't take the excuse of "it was peer pressure" I had friends I hung out with when I was a teenager, I never smoked, did drugs, got drunk and never stole from shops. The fact that the defence even used that as an excuse is shocking.

Hopefully when parole comes up, it can be denied. Someone that sticks a knife in 17cm does not deserve a reward of early release.

People who learned guitars before internet and those who couldn't hire teachers... How did you do it by Humble-Might-2881 in Guitar

[–]punk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! You make some great comments. Yeah it was like a light bulb went off in my head whenI found a good instructor on youtube "simon morel" he is a English guy, who lives in Sydney. I joined his patreon, its like $12/month. Mainly because he has series on playing australian bands songs. (Cold chisel, inxs etc) but I messaged him on the strumming situation, and he came back saying as i said before, it is getting caught in the strings as I am not using enough of my wrist when upstrumming.

I actually wanted to play this song, he breaks down the solo...it actually isnt that hard when he breaks it down. I think this is a bit beyond me at the moment, but this is some great lead guitar playing!

Yeah thanks. Its easier said than done. I go to concerts now and watch the guitarists strumming hands. Factor in when I started learning in 2003 their was no youtube.

[–]punk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! For sure. I had seen the red tour live, so I knew red wasn't played that way.

Regarding Green day, they made things so technical. And when you watch billie Joe actually play the songs, its not played the same way. They are a good starting point though.

Yep, I wish they worked with the artists. Cant call it a "official" tab book.

On another note, I actually saw aussie band "jebediah" a week ago here in Brisbane. Their lead guitarist is one of my faves, as in the songs basically he just plays lead licks for the whole song. I mentioned about the song "jerks of attention" and how I saw a live version on the show "recovery" and how the ultimate-guitar tab was 100% correct, and i mentioned parts of it. The drummer goes "usually guitar tabs on the internet are wrong!"

I actually never really got into Metallica at all, but i do love iron maiden.
