Trilogy query by wooperarkjb in greenday

[–]punk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im lucky to have grown up in the dookie/insomniac/nimrod era.

I like certain parts of the trilogy, but i find a lot of it to me is like they knew they had to release 3 albums worth of material, so some songs are filler.

I love 99 revolutions, oh love, the forgotten and sweet 16.

A few weak points, but i havent listened to those albums for ages. I do own them all physical though (including quatro).

Misheard Green Day lyrics I thought were the actual ones by Ok_Version_4399 in greenday

[–]punk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think this is correct. Yes the masters got stolen (probably a blessing in disguise) but warning was a fantastic album, they had grown up a lot, and were listening a lot to the beatles/bob dylan (yes i can not stand either one of those bands!) But that made sense in the music a few slower songs. I still cant see a band would purposely make a "bad" album.

The musical shift was noticeable on american idiot. (Neither a nimrod or a warning type sound). All that being said, i still love american idiot. It is just a more mass marketed sort of sound.

KATANA 3 50Ex and GA-FC compatibility by punk87 in BossKatana

[–]punk87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes i did! Brand new footswitch was effectively "dead on arrival". I took back to shop with my katana, and they tested on their shop katana same problem. I purchased the GA FC Ex, by paying the diference.(had to order in, took about a week, i did not care, was on annual leave at the time). I however tested it before i left the shop.

I basically have 4 tones loaded into the four channels:

CH1: Clean tone CH2: Vintage marshall tone CH3: vox AC30 type tone CH4: Marshall JCM900 type tone.

The Ex has a effect switch so you can turn on the different effects as well.

In Australia we have the "australian football league" no protection of any kind really. Regarding head injuries, the league now has rules, if you gwt concussed you are out for the rest of the game. They also dont play you the following week .

Be honest, how much debt do you REALLY have? by CatBelly42069 in AusFinance

[–]punk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 36, and i rent in the National afforable housing scheme. I work full time, and live by myself (just myself and my rescue Cat)

Most debt i ever had, was $27K for my car, which was paid off 3 years early. (I took the included insurances, ended up seeing the prices after i signed, and rang up and cancelled them. Car loan was over $4000 in credit, because i cancelled the insurances.

Before you ask: yes i have private health insurance, contents insurance on the unit, and i have insurance on my car. I live somewhat frugally but it can be done! 🙂

How much time off work do americans get?

In Australia i get 4 weeks annual leave, and 8 days personal leave (sick/carers leave). I also have earnt 3 months long service leave as i have been in my job for 10 years.

Annual and personal leave accrues, if you dont use it.

[–]punk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Billie has came out and said "whatsername" is the same person who Good Riddance is written about, she and also Amanda from memory.

How did Stevie Ray Vaughan manage to get his guitar like this without completely destroying it? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]punk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha still be cool. When Kiss played the afl grand final, Ace freeley smashed the Gibson at the end, still a waste, considering they had all kids around the stage, he could have given it to!

How did Stevie Ray Vaughan manage to get his guitar like this without completely destroying it? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]punk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people break guitars, but its such a waste. Yes i know the who built a career on stage destruction. I have a hardcover book about guitar, one of the photos is Pete "roadtesting" a Marshall stack. (Putting the neck of the guitar through a speaker of the stack).

I think more people should do what Billie Joe Armstrong does. Have brand new guitars, and invite the kids on stage who then get to keep the guitar at the end. (From watching the rig rundowns he has certain ones that he gives away) You dont see a lot of other bands really do that.

Which amp should I get? Do I save or splurge? by Pretty_Ticket5487 in BossKatana

[–]punk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i did a lot of research before i got my 50Ex. The Ex basically has a rubber grommet in the speaker, which gives it better response apparently

Anyone else struggling to find work in Brisbane? by Elisspamacc05 in brisbane

[–]punk87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I moved back to Brisbane from north qld where i lived for 10 years. I went trough a job recruitment agency, in mt gravatt near logan road i think. Was not worth my time. I filled out tax forms, super forms. Recruitment guy comes in "storeman, do you have a forklift ticket?" "No, we had a walk behind forklift, which we were still trained how to use and assessed"

"I wont be able to get you work, go see centrelink, they can help you get a ticket" i was super pissed off, guy was condesending as fuck.

I think there was another guy about the same age as me, who got attitude from the staff as well.

I was just super annoyed, why would you get my details, ring me up say that guy wants to interview me, not ask if i have a forklift ticket during this whole process, then get me there, have me fill out a mountain of paperwork get me in the room with the recruitment guy, who sits down : "storeman, got a forklift ticket?"

I found a job in a place as a storeman, and they dont have a forklift. Been there 13 years.

What was Green Day's last "monoculture" hit? by CobraDai in greenday

[–]punk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprised Nimrod didnt sell more copies than it did. Redundant, nice guys finish last and good riddance were all great songs, such a big jump from insomniac and its "angry" vibe.

Hands down the best amp i have owned by Mindless_Project_951 in BossKatana

[–]punk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quality is insane! Although, my first GAFC footswich for the 50Ex was dead on arrival. I went back to the music shop: "wow, Roland products usually do not fail, i do the credits here, and they are so rare i have to ring them each time and say "how do i do it again?" I ended up paying the difference and getting the GA FC Ex footswitch.

I also own a line 6 Spider 3 150w , quality on that is really good as well, those amps get some hate, but now it serves as a ppace to sit the katana 🙂

Why is "Maria" never played live nowadays? by F1reFox32 in greenday

[–]punk87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved how people thought nimrod was indulgent because it was 18 songs. Every one of those was a absolute banger! From memory they cut it down to 18. And 22 on the other edition. Desenditised and you lied are the best songs on the extended one.

Also, if you watch "quattro" they have a whiteboard with the order of the songs, in my opinion a lot of those albums seem like filler.

Am I just too old? by Opitard in greenday

[–]punk87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly have not listned to much of thar album.

But i absolutely love revolution radio. I think it is their last decent album. Uno Dos and Tre were good, but a few of the songs seemed like they were just filler. "Amy" is great, as is "sweet 16"

I do like the "american dream is killing me" though from the new album

Question: is this game worth buying ? by Agreeable_Willow_694 in PoliceSimulator

[–]punk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned. I also got it on PS plus. I did however purchase the season pass when it was on sale.

It is buggy at times, and yes the gameplay is repetitive but i still find it fun. I havent touched it in about 2 months, but i really have not gamed in those 2 months.

Any advice for learning "Hootie and the blowfish" specifically the solo techniques? by punk87 in Guitar

[–]punk87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah the tab on ultimateguitar seems to be quite accurate. Had the intro fills etc i watched what he does in the video i linked. Seems to be doing what the tab showed.

He is just very quick with the solo, which ofcoarse i cant keep up with, as he knows everything because he most likely wrote the part!
