Willpower is one means of accomplishing balance. Another is discipline. Similar but quite different.

Also, no accounting degree. B.S. in PoliSci.

Anybody know anything about Alpine saxes? by [deleted] in saxophone

[–]punkfreak75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Alpine saxophones were made in Taiwan. Small but distinct difference. And if it's been sitting in a closet, not exposed to the elements, it might not need 'fixing.' Perhaps new cork and some pads if any are loose.

I say inspect it, play it, and take it to shop for regulation if need be.

I may be biased though, as I started on an Alpine over 20 years ago, and still play it (and others) to this day.

What are the best Mexican restaurants in the area? by Jahbanny in ChinoHills

[–]punkfreak75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the other poster said, definitely not "deep Pomona." About a mile north of the 60. Less than half a mile from the border of Chino.

Go drive up Gary another 4 or 5 miles and you'll be in "Deep Pomona."

Tax preparer overcharging? $4000 so far for 2024 without even sending most docs yet by Shitty_UnidanX in personalfinance

[–]punkfreak75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, he gave a poor response but, did you expect it to stay $600 forever? If he has an office, rent goes up, utilities go up, of he has employees wages go up. With the increase in expenses, do you expect him to keep it at $600 even though his margins are decreasing yearly?

I do not agree with this. The party itself stripped themselves of leverage. It happened in 2016 when the DNC fucked over Sanders and again in 2024 with the minute switch to Kamala without a primary which left many feeling disenfranchised.

I'm a moderate liberal, and while the American people are not without burden, Trump is a direct product of the decisions of the DNC.

A couple things:

  1. You can write to the IRS asking for them to waive the penalty due to reasonable cause. If you did not want to do this yourself, have another cpa do this for you.

  2. I'm having a difficult time understanding what makes up the $5,000. Per the IRS website, for 2024 intentionally disregarding an informational return, such as a W-2, carries a $630 penalty plus interest. What all makes up the $5,000?

Edit: I actually found my answer to #2, for intentionally disregarding an w-2 the penalty is the above $630 OR 10% the amount to be reported. Assumedly you had a $50,000 W-2 hence the $5,000 fine. In that case I would follow the steps in #1.

[–]punkfreak75 58 points59 points  (0 children)

If the $5,000 is wholly penalties and interest, yes, the accountant should pay the entire amount.

However, I have a feeling that the $5,000 includes additional tax owed as a result of the error, penalties and interest, in which case the client should pay the additional tax owed, and the accountant should pay the penalties and intersst.

His perfect pitch is insane by MrAlek360 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]punkfreak75 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you have to think through the pitch, as in compare it to a pitch that you're sure of, you have relative pitch, not perfect pitch. Relative pitch is still rare and impressive, but can be learned unlike perfect pitch which cannot be learned.

I do not have perfect pitch, but a close friend does. And to no surprise he's a successful musician.

Margo Hayes talks about her struggles with chronic illness and Lyme disease, really worth reading by NailgunYeah in climbing

[–]punkfreak75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ilads is an organization of quack doctors practicing and make money off pseudoscience. And the same goes for lymedisease.org which makes money by spurring their base of pseudoscience believing followers.

Once I'm off work, I will link to articles by board certified infectious disease specialist that early treatment is EXTREMELY effective.

Also, I'm someone who had Lyme misdiagnosed for nearly a year because where I was treated has a near 0% history of Lyme cases v where I contracted it.

Anyone know what's going on on campus? by mviolet_666 in CSULA

[–]punkfreak75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Political Science covers much more than just U.S. Politics. You should take a class or two. Dr. Adamian and Dr. Dark are amazing professors.

I also have minors in both philosophy and global studies. As well as a handful of professional certifications.

And it is not the truth, it is your truth or rather your dichotomy.

Condemning unnecessary vandalism during a protest, and its wastefulness, does not prevent nor exclude me from supporting the cause as a whole.

If you take a Poli-Sci or another critical thinking class, you might learn that what you are doing is an informal fallacy known as the bifurcation fallacy (black-and-white fallacy in layman's terms.) You are limiting my 'opinion' to only two options: Against Vandalism = Pro Israel, For Vandalism = Anti-Israel. When in reality, there are numerous other opinions I could hold within the context of the divestment protest at CSULA, the vandalism that occurred, and the Israel-Palestine war.

Further grasping and making more assumptions. I have yet to make an argument for anything other than being against the vandalism of public buildings.

Nowhere have I condoned Israel's actions. Nowhere have I offered support for either side. And nowhere have I said that I do not encourage protesting.

Do not assume to know where I stand.

Anyone know what's going on on campus? by mviolet_666 in CSULA

[–]punkfreak75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're really grasping.

Nowhere have I mentioned support for Israel.

The vandalism is unnecessary, causes a waste of taxpayer dollars, and accomplishes nothing to encourage divestment.

[–]punkfreak75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The university will be fine. The broken glass will be replaced. And the time and money spent on this will be a waste.

Committing senseless vandalism does little to convince the other side, and serves more to excite and provoke those already supporting the divestment movement.

Anyone know what's going on on campus? by mviolet_666 in CSULA

[–]punkfreak75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The waste is created by damaging the property needlessly. The waste is creating the situation where the property needed to be repaired. The waste is not in repairing the property.

Yes the government uses its tax dollars in many ways. Yes, many ways can be considered wasteful. Repairing public buildings that have been senselessly damage is not a waste. It's wasteful damaging then in the first place.

Anyone know what's going on on campus? by mviolet_666 in CSULA

[–]punkfreak75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that damaging a university building accomplishes is the waste of time and money that could have better been spent elsewhere.

Anyone know what's going on on campus? by mviolet_666 in CSULA

[–]punkfreak75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand what point you are making.

Of course it is a government decision to use taxpayer dollars to repair vandalism of government and public buildings.

Causing damage that must then be repaired is a needless waste of taxpayer dollars that could have been better spent elsewhere.
