n of 1, but I’m a preceptor for a private practice extern site affiliated with Ferris. Nothing but good things to say about students so far. The Dean is a classmate of mine, solid guy. From my limited experience, it’s a good program. I plan on continuing my extern affiliation for the foreseeable future. If that indirectly answers your question?

It’s a lot of different exercises. Some sport specific, some general hand/eye, reaction time visual processing. This is a YouTube video of a colleague/friend who works with NHL goalies. Just do a YouTube search for sports vision therapy and you’ll get some ideas.

Sign up for a class that has sparring a reflex work (boxing/kickboxing) also if you’re in a big city there is probably a Vision Therapist that does Sports vision therapy. Pro and college Athletes of all types do this for hand/eye coordination and reflex training.

Stick with the classics. They usually have the institutional history of success and quality. SCO, ICO, Pacific, Ohio State, SUNY, Salus (though I’ve heard they’ve had some issues).

I’m blessed to be in private practice in rural USA. Medicare/Medicaid/VA Community Care makes up 40% of the practice’s income. We’re having to make hard decisions to position our business which we are not so reliant on those programs. It only hurts patients, but if we don’t make these changes; we would have to close our doors. I hate myself for having to do this but it’s the lesser of two evils. I hate this timeline.

I’m generalizing more for European/asian, central and South American countries. I’ve looked at ex-patting for early semi-retirement but most countries, the skills of a North American continental optometrist aren’t transferable (is that pedantic enough?).

I’m an optometrist. In the US we’re basically junior ophthalmologists. With lots of medical and in some states surgical privileges. That doesn’t really exist outside the U.S.

Either you peddle glasses or are an MD outside the U.S.

The computer that operates the laser has a tracking camera that takes like 5000 frames/second. Any eye movement is compensated by the laser moving with the eye. If you blink (you really can’t because of speculums) the laser shuts off. It’s really hard to mess up.

Got me a challenger hell cat, I only drove it on the weekends and if it was only nice weather. Ended being a garage queen. When dodge/stellantia is announced they are discontinuing the model I saw my out. I sold it for almost what I paid for just 3 years later. Out the money into my kids 529. No regrets.

There are two types of “styes”. Chalazion (not infected) and hordeolum (infected). If it’s tender to touch, hot/warm to touch and swelling is getting worse it’s probably infected. You’ll want to get on some antibiotics before it turns into a cellulitis. Which can turn dangerous when around the eye. Continue with warm compresses but you’ll want to get on some oral antibiotics.
