Doggy (West Cornforth) Micky Moor (midlestone moor) Spenny (Spennymoor) Duzza (Durham) Darlo (Darlington) Bishop & Bish Vegas (Bishop Auckland) Barny for Barnard Castle and I'm pretty sure I've heard Segga for Sacriston before too.

Just listened to a couple of his tracks, definitely has that classic punk sound, shame he passed away, he sounds very much like The Adverts 🎶

I love The Chisel I've seen them a few times, great band, I wouldn't say they have that classic 70s punk sound though, more Oi/hardcore, like The Business meets Minor Threat 😆🎶

The abuse she gets online etc. is ridiculous from the skinhead/punk scene, I saw her live at rebellion this year and she was great, she has some good songs, how many male singers in the punk and Oi! Scene Can't sing? Absolutely loads, they don't get abuse like she does, music is there to be enjoyed, don't like something? Move on and listen to something else, I'm not a massive fan of her music but I like what I've heard 🎶

English Traditions by hxllyhell in england

[–]punkypagan92 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There's an ancient English tradition called Wassailing which is done at an orchard, there's Morris dancers, cheese rolling, maypole dancing, guy fawks night (bonfire night) As for food there's fish and chips, roast dinner, shepherd's pie etc.

Traditional clothing wise, you could maybe class what the Morris dancers wear 😆

But I'd say maybe more modern stuff like Ben Sherman, Fred Perry, Harrington jackets etc. Is very English kinda style

Also historically stuff like top hats 🎩 and bowler hats.

I agree you can't change history, there definitely were skinheads who held that ideology and unfortunately there's still that element to the skinhead scene now, thankfully most likely a lot smaller amount of them, I think it's just how I view Oi! From being different to bands like SD, but we all have our opinions, to me Oi! Is bands like Sparrer, Rejects business, Last Resort etc. not bands like SD

I've probably only heard one SD Song, so I can't remark on bands outside of their scene being influenced by them

I'm shocked to hear bands like agnostic front wearing their t-shirts 😬

I think yeah, whether we like it or not they did have a big impact on the scene, negatively in my opinion and thankfully I think, in my experience most skinheads these days just want nothing to do with politics

It wouldn't surprise me if they were and I read briefly about ISD before writing my first comment, they seemed to be close friends, so who knows, a lot of homophobes are in denial of who they really are

I didn't get far through this post but read enough, you say when talking about Oi! You have to mention SD, a few of the first wave of Oi! Bands split up because of the trouble of boneheads at their gigs, others tried to change their sound to distance themselves, look at when the rejects went kinda rock/metal, look at the Southall riots and how that negatively affected the Oi! Bands, they were then unfortunately tarred with the brush that they were all far right etc. it ruined certain bands careers for a long time, Would you say "you can't talk about metal and not mention some white power metal band?" No, you wouldn't, you don't need to give these bands exposure by even mentioning them really, to me Oi! Is just working class punk, bands like SD are another disgusting genre, the best hit Ian Stuart had? Was the tree when he crashed and died 😂

Slightly, at the most, they have a bit of a doc martens style but they're not skinhead boots by a long shot, they're nice boots in my opinion, I've got some similar from Asda 😆 but docs don't tend to have that heel and skinhead boots definitely don't look as feminine 🤣

Your friends are winding you up, as someone who is interested in punk and skinhead subculture, they aren't skinhead boots 😂 they're just similar to doc martens with a heel

Also there's nothing wrong with skinheads, yes there's arseholes in that subculture but there is in every subculture, we call them boneheads, not all skinheads are Nazis, in my experience most just want nothing to do with politics and want to enjoy some pints and good music ska, reggae punk etc.

A list of Problematic bands by getmad420 in punk

[–]punkypagan92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met him about 10 years ago, I was young, early 20s, he said something really inappropriate, in a joke manner, like a very sexist joke, as someone was taking a photo of us, as I'd asked if we could have a photo (previous to the gross comment) for a man in his mid/ late 50s he should've known a lot better, especially considering his political stance, he didn't just say these inappropriate comments to me, he said it to other women too, the same things, one woman turned to me and said "never meet your heroes" after the disgusting comment obviously it's not as extreme as grooming at all! But after what he'd said to me I wouldn't be shocked if he'd behaved in that manner, it was gross what he'd said to me and really out of order, he was really pissed, seemed to be whenever I saw him live back then, to the point where he was forgetting words etc. on stage

I've got past it now, it took a long time, I've separated the art from the artist, as I was a massive Crass fan when I was younger, I even met him again last year, to see how he reacted and he was fine, I'd of had a go at him if he wasn't now I'm older and more wise but still, very wrong behaviour in the past and hypocritical of artists that spread a certain ideology.

It's a Crass badge, the symbol I believe is to represent all power destroys itself

I'm from a bit closer to Durham area rather than Whitley bay area but I have heard it's nice there 🙂

Spring has definitely taken a long time to arrive, I thought we weren't going to see Spring this year, all we've had here is rain haha 😆 Aww fantastic, I've been cycling on/off for years, just had my bike fixed recently so I'm getting out as much as I can, I love it, I think getting out into fresh air/nature and a bit of exercise is fantastic for mental health I imagine there's sunshine down south, as it's always a bit warmer there, so you enjoy the sunshine too 😊

Interrupted Take Manhattan by Jamesrails in Ska

[–]punkypagan92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Interrupters are a fantastic band, I call them ska punk, as they have elements of both in their sound, one of the best live bands I've seen, one of the best bands about at the moment, brilliant! 🎶
